Commissioned by the Ministry of Defence, the Dodonna - Class Interdictor Cruiser was the newest creation of the Republic Engineering Corporation. It was a warship that was designed to wrest control of the spacelanes away from hostile forces, and force them into compromising positions. Through the inclusion of the Dodonna - Class, the Defence Force would be capable of policing their territory more efficiently, as entire Starways could be locked down and forced to comply with their implemented Security Measures. The Warship would also assist the Federal Law Enforcement Agencies as they fought against Smuggling Operations and Pirate Raids that were common on the fringes of their territory. But, when used in a Military Capacity, the Interdictor Cruiser found itself capable of drawing entire flotillas into established positions - allowing their fellow Vessels to ambush the enemy.
Further enhancing its capabilities, the Dodonna - Class Interdictor Cruiser was equipped with a slew of Electronic Warfare components and Countermeasures. These technological additions would prove to be invaluable to the Defence Force, as they would turn the very Spacelanes against their foes. To achieve such lofty goals, the Dodonna was outfitted with a selection of Hyperspace Beacons and Navigational Buoys that would duplicate and mimic whatever coordinates were uploaded into NaviComputers. This process would force the Starship, or the Flotilla thereafter, to believe that it arrived at its intended destination and decelerate from lightspeed. Once they translated back into realspace, the trap would be set as the Starship, or Flotilla, would be momentarily struck by confusion - allowing the Warships of the Galactic Alliance to spring their well-placed trap.
From there, the Dodonna - Class Interdictor Cruiser was outfitted with a host Copycat Pods that would make it difficult for Enemy Warships to target the Parent Vessel, as their Transponder Data would be scattered throughout the Starship’s spatial surroundings. Thus, the Dodonna would not only prove to be a hassle to anyone that sought to reinforce the enemies of the Galactic Alliance but prove to be a nuisance to those seeking out the Interdictor in an attempt to disable the artificial gravity well generators. In many ways, this Interdictor Cruiser would live up to the Legacy of the Man for whom it was named, as General Dodonna had led the ancient Rebel Alliance to many Victories against Palpatine’s Empire. It was the hope of Republic Engineering, and the Ministry of Defence, that the fighting spirit of this Ancient Hero of Rebellion would carry the Galactic Alliance towards a new era of liberty and prosperity.
