It was an interesting world, to say the least. Just looking upon the massive valley before him, it was like gazing upon a hellscape - red rock covered with dark foliage, bathed in an eerie light from an obscured sun. He wouldn't have wanted to be here, among the other creatures of the dark side, if the situation wasn't so dire: dozens of Imperial stormtroopers suffering from a mysterious ailment that was steeped in dark side energies.

Not even the Ysalamiri they had been created under the watchful guise of could repel such an infliction. They were suffering and, even though he was no stranger to suffering, it made him feel uneasy. A few years of constantly being in the presence of someone who was, personality-wise, his polar opposite had done much to nurture a sense of empathy in the older man.

Even still, there was something about the dark side on this planet that affected him, made him feel as if he should rely on his more primal instincts. Perhaps, just this once, it would do him well to ignore the call of the Force.

Lest he became a monster himself.

With her unworded love for mysteries and acquiring knowledge, the lady of House Du Couteau had read much about the malevolent world of Dathomir, even before she found her way into the graces of the present imperium. But as with many things in life, theories and words does not always translate well into reality.

Marriskcal stood several steps behind the older male, with only years of guidance and resolve allowing the blonde to remain keen and composed as she kept her vigil over their surroundings. Even then, a hand stayed close to the lightsabres that laid hidden beneath her cloak, primed to draw them at a moment’s notice in the advent of danger. For she did not trust this land of crimson haze and roiling dark energies.

As one who stood on the light spectrum of the scale, the young lady found herself apprehensive as wisp of shadows slithered across her senses, oily and unpleasant. It also left her with a lingering sense of dread, that she was perpetually under the gaze of an unknown predator. And even when Marriskcal knew that it was merely because the world itself was so immersed in the dark side, her reasoning and lucidity was unable to abandon the oppressive sensation that weighed down her soul.

Though she knew better, the blonde closed the distance between Frederic and herself, taking solace in his presence before they continued on their hunt. They had a time-critical assignment to accomplish… and she was not about to allow the ailing stormtroopers to suffer any longer than it was necessary. “We shall have to be careful when we venture forth,” she spoke in a quiet voice, enough so that the others that accompanied them were reminded of the treacherous swamps and creatures in the valley below.

I will keep an eye out for the necessary leaves and sapling as we trek across the lay of the land.” While she had never seen any of the creatures whose portions were required for the draught, Marriskcal was more confident when it came to ascertaining the plants that were essential. Not to mention, she had a feeling that those that they hunted will also be hunting them in turn.
