STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES:
+Natural Call to the Dark Side: As Umbara is a planet of perpetual darkness, many force-sensitive Umbaran's are naturally stronger in the dark side of the force. Along with this, Derleth draws a hereditary connection to the force from his mother.
+Erudite: Derleth is a scholar of the dark side, spending much of his time either discussing or reading about its mysteries.
= Umbaran Ultraviolet Vision: Derleth's people have the ability to see in the ultraviolet spectrum. It provides him no particular advantage over his opponents.
-Sympathy for Jedi: Derleth's studies of the force have brought him into contact with Jedi and the light side of the force. While he feels no pull to the light side, he understands the Jedi code much like he does the Sith code and understands why Jedi remain in the light. This has brought him animosity from other Sith, particularly the militaristic and self-consumed.
-Haemophilia: Derleth was stricken with Haemophilia at a young age. Due to the impaired ability to produce blood clots, Haemophiliacs bleed for a lot longer after an injury than a normal person, and bruise much easier.

APPEARANCE:

Derleth stands tall and somewhat fit with pale skin and white hair. He is typically seen wearing his Sith armour and wielding his Sith Sword. He is less gaunt and pale than most Umbarans thanks to his Dathomirian Zabrak heritage, but he did not inherit the horns that the males of his mother's species have.

PRE-RP HISTORY
Derleth was born on Umbara. His father was a scholar of Umbaran history teaching at a university when he met Derleth's mother. His mother was a Nightsister of Dathomir who had disputed with her clan and traveled to Umbara in hopes of practicing her arts alone. She took an interest in the Umbarans and began to research alongside Derleth's father. Derleth was born in 830 and from a young age exhibited a strong control over the force. His mother taught him what she could about magic and the dark side, hoping to keep him away from the Jedi or the Sith.

When Derleth was 15, a Sith knight encountered rumours of Derleth's natural force abilities and sought him out. Despite his mother's objections, Derleth wished to be taken to the Sith so he could continue to grow his knowledge of the force. For another 10 years Derleth studied the Sith from top to bottom. While his master saw him as a powerful weapon for the Sith to use and pushed him to join the military, Derleth was content learning the ways of the Sith from afar.

He was constantly outshone by his master's other apprentice, the prodigal blades-woman Kayna Cadav. Kayna was both Derleth's close friend and rival. Despite her superiority over Derleth with a lightsaber, their master believed she lacked the necessary devotion to the Sith that Derleth had. While the two were constantly at odds over this, they were united by their mutual hatred of their master.

He constantly argued with his master to the point that Derleth almost ran away from the Sith. The two argued for the last time when Derleth was 25. Derleth had been a man for sometime by galactic standards, but his master still treated him as a child. Like many Sith, Derleth murdered his master. Unlike most Sith, he was disgusted by his own actions and deeply regretted them. His actions stunned him at the time, but ultimately led him to stay with the Sith and progress deeper into the dark side. Kayna however left the order without haste, considering herself finally free. Derleth considered leaving with her, but eventually found a way to justify his actions to himself: through the Sith Code.

Without a master breathing down his neck and a newfound respect for the Code, he continued to study the Sith. He became interested in the ancient art of Sith science, and above all
: Sith swords. He saw Sith swords as a return to a more civilized era and symbolic of Sith power, as they were imbued with the dark side itself. Derleth sought to craft himself one. His quest brought him to the dark side nexus of Exegol, where Sith science had been perfomed for centuries. Within the Sith temple and with the aid of the scientists that resided there, he forged himself a greatsword imbued with both his blood and dark side energy.

With sword in hand, Derleth challenged himself to pilgrimage around the Sith Empire to hone his abilities. In his pilgrimage he came into contact with the Keepers of the Sith Code, an enigmatic, traditionalist sect of the Sith Order who sought to return the Sith to their former glory and destroy the Empire. Derleth saw this opportunity as a higher calling from the force and quickly pledged himself to their new order.

RP HISTORY:

Chapter I: The Dark Spark of Rebellion

Derleth pledged himself to the Qotsisajakaar to fight an empire he saw as crumbling. From the order's inception, Derleth set out to perfect his dark powers. His journeys brought him back to Exegol, where it appeared the once sacred Sith world had been discovered by many. Whether the dark forces of the planet called to them, or they journeyed there of their own volition he knew not. Not yet at least. Roon stones, holocrons, the secret of immortality and the secrets of alchemy all brushed paths with Derleth. Answers were never found for any of the esoteric knowledge he encountered. His journey of Sith occultism was cut off by a declaration that shook the Sith Empire. Derleth and his fellow Keepers of the Sith were now apostates. The dark machinations of the Keepers and their leader, Darth Voyance, finally culminated in the reveal of her battle-station and a secret Sith world for the apostates to congregate.

Chapter II: The Civil War (Ongoing)
As disenchantment with the Empire grew among every class, the New Imperial Order was proclaimed. While Derelth claimed no allegiance to any politicians or emperors, the Keepers sought them out as natural allies and the Sith-Imperial Civil War began. The Qotsisajakaar splintered at the absconding of Darth Voyance, but Derleth and the Zuguruk remained loyal even in their pseudo-exile that followed. Derleth returned to Exegol, where the Outer Planets Alliance and Cathar Hegemony sought to destroy the legacy of the Sith on the world. When Darth Avernus called the Keepers to re-emerge and convene on the Dark Praxeum, he heeded the call. Back with the Keepers, he was naturally drawn into the war when a surprise counter attack at Borosk trapped him among enemies and unwilling allies.
