DESCRIPTION

Long ago, Arris Windrun belonged to a Talusian gang called the Sneaky Shens, a small but ambitious outfit beholden to one of many Corellian Syndicates; until the gang was eventually eradicated, leaving Arris one of the few survivors. Named for them, the Dead Shens is a major criminal syndicate and a dominant player in Coruscant’s criminal underworld, with holdings throughout the Core Worlds, Hutt Space, and the Outer Rim.

The organization - like many crime syndicates - is a racket, preferring to exploit specific segments of the entire underworld rather than dominate markets or territories wholesale. Often, the Dead Shens engage via proxy: smaller syndicates, street gangs, and privately aligned mercenary outfits. However, the Dead Shens does maintain a core group of loyal footsoldiers, formed principally of Gank clans from the Smuggler’s Moon that joined Windrun on her warpath across the Core.

As the Syndicate of Arris Windrun, a Sith Lord and leader within the Sith Covenant, the Dead Shens can leverage resources and exert influence that rivals even the Hutt Cartel, Black Sun, and other major criminal groups throughout the galaxy. A mere word from the Dark Horse can direct fleets against her competitors, engage the services of elite assassins, and crash the economies of entire worlds.

RATIONALE

Arris Windrun established the Dead Shens after consolidating underworld power following the Sith Covenant’s conquest of the Core. As one of the principal leaders of the Covenant, there was honestly very little stopping her from building up the Syndicate, let alone fueling it with the unimaginable wealth she had amassed as part of her share of the spoils. Of course, it didn’t hurt that Arris Windrun was raised in the underworld and honed her talents further as a Black Sun enforcer before her rise as a Sith Lord. If that alone wasn’t enough, then how about having Quinn Varanin Quinn Varanin as her patron - for the Sith Princess and Queen of Eshan entered an alliance with Arris Windrun, lending her significant influence in exchange for guaranteed access to key resources and operations.
