Founded by Derron Daks, primary shareholder and CEO, DDSI is concerned with exploration and scientific research. To this end, they currently deploy one, and intend to deploy several, research frigates. Income is generated by the sale of data and discoveries to industries which may benefit from them, such as pharmaceutical companies, mining companies, and shipping companies, as well as Universities and other research institutions. Research activity on a single world can generate many millions of credits of marketable data.
RATIONALE
In addition to a sizable family investment, Derron sought investment from other Yakans on his homeworld who believed that an exploration and research corporation could be both profitable and a worthwhile endeavor for the forwarding of galactic progress. He now operates one research frigate with an intention of purchasing additional units once his operations are profitable enough for expansion.

After discovering a rich source of neutronium, DDSI made a deal with Makai Dashiell and Salacia Consolidated that will provide a continuing revenue stream enabling the expansion of the DDSI fleet. (Reference Thread - The Rock of Ages) DDSI borrowed against these expected revenues to begin immediate starship construction.
