Personality: Vale is passionate, tenacious, loyal and spirited she tackles every challenge encountered with steady reliability and an underlying fury. Vale is disciplined but retains the impulsiveness one might expect from youth and, as a result, is provoked into response with almost comical ease. The trauma Vale has experienced in her short albeit troubled life has left her with a volatile temper. Vale will attempt to remain impartial and neutral in professional settings, keeping any personal animosity or fondness behind a stoic steely expression of pursed lips, clenched teeth, and narrowed eyes. Vale will engage in acts of cruelty that she attempts to justify to herself but, more often than not, will wordlessly concede puts a dent in her honour and integrity; she actively attempts to suppress ideations of remorse or guilt with distractions such as liquor or thrill-seeking exercise. Consciously, Vale tries to balance out the wicked acts she performs with charity and kindness as a sort of moral penance to those less deserving. Vale is narcissistic and believes herself to be superior in body and mind to many of her peers. Vale can manipulate others with a friendly face and a charming smile. Vale is a vicious opponent and will haughtily taunt and angrily goad her opponents in a firefight as a hostile combatant.

Vale views the law with a level of cynicism, believing it is merely the will of the ruling government or community of the day given force by violence rather than ideas or concepts with genuine merit and fairness; Vale observes and complies with the law first and foremost as a matter of pragmatism to avoid punishment. In Vale's mind, only a secular government could give way to law genuinely fair and just, religion has no place in an indeed just and noble society and as such is antagonistic or hostile towards force wielders along with ideologies rooted in its' practice or severance such as the Jedi or Sith. Because of the destruction their wars inflict upon the galaxy, Vale has grown to distrust and despise the Galactic Republic and Sith Empire as the ideology of the Jedi and Sith, respectively, tend to dominate the political landscapes of those governments. Given her suspicion of force wielders and the religions which grow from its' proliferation, Vale distrust and dislikes the Imperial Knights and fears they might be used as a means of those poisoned ideologies to infiltrate the New Imperial Order. Despite her contempt and mistrust of religion, Vale can bring herself to trust and respect individual force-wielders and is mature enough to look past her contempt for their misbegotten religion.

Vale has no particular love for democracy and is first because of her deeply-rooted military upbringing. The source of Vale's loyalty is her interpersonal relationships first and foremost and a belief that in the wake of the injuries which led to her voluntary acceptance of the REAVER Cybernetic Weapon System, she is a superior combatant to any ordinary soldier and should use the capabilities of her new physiology to protect the galaxy's fragile order from genocidal anarchists, religious zealots and alien scum. As an Imperial Cadet who has been trained for combat from adolescence, Vale's attitude towards mainstream enlisted recruits is challenging. She views their competence with a level of suspicion and is prone to micro-managing them due to a lack of belief in the adequacy of their training. Vale's discrimination against them manifests in an icy reception. Vale is loathed to have to be subordinated to regularly recruited officers. A Meritocrat believes that one's specialised knowledge, performance, and leadership ability should be met with elevated responsibility rather than senatorial skill.

Motivations:
  • Short Term:
    • Obtain a promotion to the rank of Captain.
  • Mid-Term:
    • Combat the Brotherhood of Maw and stop their campaign of genocide.
  • Long Term:
    • Collect incriminating evidence of Prefsbelt Command's activities from witnesses.
    • Expose Prefsbelt Command's atrocities to the New Imperial Order and broader galaxy.
    • Kill Carlyle Rausgeber.

STRENGTHS:
  • Cyborg Supersoldier: Contrary to outwards appearances, Vale is a cybernetic organism with most of her biological organs and system replaced with mechanical facsimiles in a technologically breath-taking example of cybernetic augmentation and prosthesis. Vale can run significantly faster and hit dramatically harder than any baseline Human, resist chemical and biological hazards that would otherwise hinder a normal Human and endure environments that would see to the end of an oxygen-breathing mammal. Vale can communicate wordlessly with wireless technology and, through this ability turn, foes own security mechanisms against them.
WEAKNESSES:
  • Cranial Trauma: With an organic brain sitting in her metallic-ceramic cranium, Vale is vulnerable to brain injuries. She can suffer from sudden unconsciousness with a sufficiently robust blunt force trauma to the skull or even to experience venal or arterial haemorrhaging. Ergo, as a combatant, even though penetrating impacts from ranged weapons is unlikely, there is still ergonomic and tangible benefit for Vale to wear a protective helmet designed to reduce the effect of blunt force trauma and explosive overpressure.
  • No relief: Vale can find no release, peace, and victory in the embrace of spice, narcotics, or alcohol. What choices she now makes as a Cyborg warrior, Vale remains conscious of and cannot escape the consequences of her actions. Excessive consumption of alcohol no longer has an inebriating effect on the young woman.
  • Sleep: Unlike actual machines or other cyborgs with more extensive nervous system modifications, Vale still requires sleep for brain health and fundamental processes required by the nervous system. Consequently, she will eventually experience fatigue, which typically manifests as a steady and noticeable degradation in reaction time, hand-eye coordination, and perception. At an extreme, without sleep, Vale will begin to experience hallucinations.
  • Sustenance: Possessing an organic nervous system and functioning circulatory system to pump nutrients around their body, Vale has a functioning digestive system. She must consume food and water regularly for her health, though at a dramatically reduced quantity and frequency compared to a baseline Human. Essentially, being deprived of food and water with sufficient time will lead to debilitating consequences for Vale.
  • Spinal Column: Vale's cybernetic body features a functional facsimile of a spinal cord filled with fibre-optics and superconducting filaments that transfer what forms the equiValent of motor control sensory nerve branches. If Vale's spinal cord were to be severed or damaged, her organic nervous system would be incapable of controlling the cybernetic body ergo; she is vulnerable to traumatic injuries, which can lead to paralysis.

[APPEARANCE]
Vale outwardly appears to be a young human woman standing remarkably tall for a woman about 1.94 metres or six feet or four inches tall; growing from the crown on her head is a dark brown almost jet black hair that is typically dyed a rich Auburn, Vale keeps this hair tied into a ponytail or bun so as not to interfere with the wearing of military helmets or communication devices. Vale's facial features are sharp and defined as the edge of a blade with a pair of prominent noble cheekbones sat loftily upon her lightly freckled face. Vale's lips are shaped like the limbs of a slender bow and sit above an oval chin on a wide, proud jaw. The stem of Vale's nose is set profoundly and equidistant between a pair of startling hazel almond-shaped eyes beneath a couple of thick full eyebrows, which are angled in a gentle taper along the length of the top eyelid. Vale's physique is powerful with round solid lower limbs, a chiselled torso and a duo of long slender contoured arms. Vale might be considered attractive for a female of the species, remarkable in the sense that that one may not readily assume the occupation of a young, albeit tested and highly competent soldier from her appearance.

[BIOGRAPHY]
Vale Bragg is a junior commissioned officer of the Imperial Military's Stormtrooper Corps and a former Imperial Cadet of the Imperial Academy's Imperial Cadets; she was born on Coruscant approximately two decades before 858 ABY into a wealthy and politically connected "High Human" family. Vale's parents Jerek and Danil were viciously murdered during the New Imperial Order's formation, a murder in which Vale would have been a co-victim were it not for the timely intervention of the Coruscant Security Force who gunned down the assassins responsible. Vale's older brother enrolled his younger sister into the Imperial Academy when she was a teenager as a means of getting his adolescent sister into a safe and accommodating environment in the absence of their parents. Vale would be accommodated on various Imperial Academy campuses and most notably the Imperial Academy of Mandalore after that world's annexure into the ever-expanding Empire led by Imperator Irveric Tavlar.

As a Cadet-Corporal, Vale was responsible for a section of Imperial Cadets. A. While lodged at the Imperial Academy of Mandalore, Cadet-Corporal Bragg's cadet platoon commander was an instructor of Mandalorian background named Jarah Eldar. Eldar was a harsh but ultimately fair woman who instructed the recruits on the value of teamwork and emphasised in contradiction to old Imperial military methodology that one's comrades in combat were your family and that to forsake or condemn a member of your team was unacceptable. Eldar reinforced this with exercises where the individual sections against the platoon would engage in team-based competitions such as relays which fostered a sense of reliance and mutual teamwork to achieve success. As a leader, strived to be an example to the others ever appearing on the parade ground with reflective leather boots, lightly pressed uniforms a proud gait.

Vale's section consisted of Cadet-Lance Corporal Kayde Deros, Cadet Rainier Hask, Cadet Tove Rann, Cadet Kylo Asturo, Cadet Gage Lyste, Cadet Aksel Greev and Cadet Bronn Wayle. The eight of them were begrudging acquaintances initially, with a tension between a number of its members. With sufficient exercise and training beneath the rigorous tutelage of Jarah, Eldar gave way to cooperation and acceptance. Vale developed a reputation for being a decisive leader;. However, she was not always correct in her decisions; she could be relied upon to decide even in the most stressful training scenarios and simulations that the academy saw her section put through. Vale's academic scores saw the training cadre take note of the teenager's attitude, and she began being groomed by Jarah Eldar for a commissioned-officers promotion track; Jarah thought that Vale was impatient and sometimes reckless as to her safety in training exercises and tried to instil in Vale that there was a blurred line between being a heroine and distant memory.

Years pass steadily, and Vale nurtures a close friendship with Kayde, her second-in-command, who she comes to rely upon. The two of them would often argue about politics, with Vale, the open critic of Imperial policies and Kayde ever frustratingly playing the role of devil's advocate, always trying to find an angle from which to view a conflict from their enemy's point of view. Vale perceived Kayde to be professional and even cold. Still, she believed there was a certain sadness behind his eyes; there was for most Imperial Cadets, the bulk of their number coming from orphaned children. Vale quietly observed that they all seemed to have similar psychological traits. At least, that's what she believes based on their ability to bond with one another. Vale, Kayde, Tove and Gage became quite close within the section, Tove taking on a role, not unlike an older sibling to Gage. Vale liked Tove immensely, Tove with her fair skin and curly hair, knew how to leverage her glowing complexion, bright eyes and wicked smile to win over even the most steely instructors.

At about the age of eighteen, Vale was put through a course of tertiary study combined with a junior non-commissioned officer course delivered by the Imperial Academy. The class of officer cadets was dominated by adult volunteers for whom their first exposure to military life was arriving at the Imperial Academy on Mandalore. For Vale, it was home.S. She participated in a study led by Lieutenant Colonel Berach Ulrand evaluating the performance of former Imperial Cadets and adult volunteers, finding that Imperial Cadets performed significantly better in all military skills compared to the adult volunteers. Eventually, Vale was separated from her platoon. She was promoted to the rank of Cadet-Underofficer and put onto the commissioned officer promotion track to become a platoon commander for her Cadet platoon to replace Jarah Eldar as their Cadet unit would soon be operational and deployed.

Graduating from the Imperial Academy as a Lieutenant, Vale was posted back to her Cadet unit, now a fully-fledged Stormtrooper Unit, as the platoon commander for the old platoon. With its' full complement of officers, the team was now ready for deployment. Although, in the interim, in the immediate following of graduation, Vale was permitted a limited time of shore leave and spent it with her dear elder brother Edrik who had supported his younger sister through all of her years as an Imperial Cadet. Edrik himself had since risen to the rank of Captain in the Imperial Navy and occupied the noble distinction of command over his own Star Destroyer. The two of them holidayed on their now rebuilt homeworld of Coruscant firmly under the guidance and protection of the Republic. Vale loved the galactic city's vibrant lights and the thrum of bass emitted by nightclub stereos in the evening. After her Imperial indoctrination, though, she was significantly less fond of the multitude of aliens inhabiting its' streets.

Vale returned to her unit happy and content that she had been given a purpose by the Empire; after years of paramilitary education and training, she could think of doing nothing else than being a soldier, a combatant. Above everything else, though, her loyalty was to her platoon and the young men and women she had been raised within raised with for all intents and purposes and came to think of them as a sort of extended family. The New Imperial Order had given Vale the power, the strength to exact justice on the people responsible for forcing her and Edrik into a life without parents, not in the belated lengthy proceedings of a courtroom but at the end, a blaster. Vale and her unit formed the constituent nucleus of a "Security Enforcement" Division of Stormtroopers given the privilege of painting their stark white armour with gunmetal grey accents.

The first battle that the 105th Security Enforcement Division participated in was the evacuation of Csilla and Vale's battalion deployed in support of an evacuation to retrieve as many Chiss as possible to save them from the Brotherhood of the Maw, an alliance of fanatical dark side devotees who believed that the will of the Dark Side and their evil master would only be fulfilled through genocide, destruction and domination. Vale and her platoon supported a large contingent of Galidraani Militia atop a snow-covered plateau; their defensive positions in concrete trenches and bunkers formed a protective posture on a land route to a significant city on Csilla's surface. Vale positioned her platoon in the contact trench line, a plan which Kayde disapproved as it placed one another at the front of what was anticipated to be a horrific onslaught.

During the battle, Vale met a rather unceremonious fate. Kayde deactivated the safety on his thermal detonator and peered over the trench's precipice to lob it amid a crowd of chitinous sith spawn scampering across the tundra towards their canal. A blaster bolt found Kayde's breast and caused the man to double over in an unconscious state. The blinking charcoal fragmentation grenade rolled across the concrete floor of the trench. Vale shouted a warning to the nearby soldiers, threw her torso atop the fragmentation grenade, and closed her eyes to embrace the darkness she believed would await. Vale heard what sounded like a pop and then nothing, awakening in a murky fluid with invasive plastic tubes threaded through her mouth and nostrils floating in the nutrient-rich fluid. The pain bled through even the sedatives they were pumping through her veins; even through the lukewarm comforting amniotic film, Vale could feel the thermal detonator's fire dance all across her skin though it had long been extinguished.

Emerging from her Bacta-filled sarcophagus, what was left of Vale was a charred husk with both arms and legs having suffered tremendous damage significant enough to necessitate amputation of the tissue that the explosion of the thermal detonator hadn't outright obliterated. Vale was initially confined to a repulsor chair while cybernetic prosthesis was being prepared for the soldier; in the interim, a mysterious woman who introduced herself to Vale simply as "Garro" visited the injured Lieutenant and made the courageous former Imperial Cadet a choice to undergo an extensive government-sponsored cybernetic prosthesis if Vale would sign a lengthy service contract with the Imperial Military. For Vale, it wasn't even a decision that begged consideration at that moment; she would have done almost anything to regain her beauty and mobility from the explosion, which left her disfigured and scarred.

Edrik would be tasked with transporting casualties of the battle with his Star Destroyer NIV Victrix and insisted that among the passengers be Vale, feeling a level of shame for being unable to protect her from the action on the surface of Csilla, which left her challenging to recognise. Vale, sedated, was moved to a New Imperial Science facility on Bastion where she was placed into a bacta tank and briefed by several scientists and doctors who informed the Lieutenant what would be involved with the procedure is more than likely to be a one-way street. Without reservation, Vale consented to undergo the cybernetic, genetic and biological procedures associated with REAVER in her despair and fury. Vale went under the knife of surgeons. Her organs were grafted into the cybernetic chassis, which would become her new body.

Awakening following the procedure, Vale was delighted to find that her skin was unmarred the way it looked in holostills before the explosion on Csilla. Her cybernetic body was taking on an appearance consistent with Vale's self-image. Edrik, Kayde, Tove and Gage would have the opportunity to pay their platoon commander a visit to the military hospital on Bastion. At the same time, their unit received replacements from the Imperial Cadet classes that had recently graduated. Kayde, bereft with grief that his mistake cost Vale nearly everything, drove his eyes wet with regret, and the others comforted him with the knowledge he was shot. Kayde asked Vale how it could be possible for her grievous injuries to be fully healed, and reluctantly after asking for their discretion, disclosed to her brother and friends the nature of her recovery being one achieved through advanced cybernetics. However, she did not detail, claiming the specifics were subject to strict information security and didn't want to put them at risk of disciplinary action.

With her ever-charming smile and the boyish Gage, Tove gifted Vale a startlingly beautiful antiquated timepiece on a narrow chain that wrapped around the wrist, something that excited Vale and remarked was almost too beautiful and precious for a soldier to wear. After a brief period of physiotherapy performed in zero gravity and adjusting to the new strength and weight of her cybernetic body, Vale was released from the hospital and placed on leave which she enjoyed in the streets of Bastion with the men and women of her platoon, in the capacity of their Platoon Commander. One last time. On that night, Vale found that she could no longer find comfort in the embrace of alcohol; there would be no escaping from the dread action on Csilla where her life was changed by a grenade thrown not by the enemy but one of her own. Vale looked around and took comfort in that she saved the lives of the men and women she loved and would forever hold her unswerving loyalty. Kayde seldom left Vale's side through the evening; the two would talk for hours, with the climax of their conversation ending in a chaste kiss at the evening's conclusion and a sorrowful farewell. Vale was not long for the regular units of the Stormtrooper Corps; she had been recruited to a higher purpose of clandestine special operations.

Vale went on through the course known as "Umbra Operator Training Program" and successfully completed the intensive 32 week-long course and graduated assigned to the 1st Cybernetic Special Purpose Unit's Aurek Company as a platoon commander. Vale would be frequently requisitioned for duty with other units within the Imperial Military's special forces community as an attache to leverage the unique capabilities of her cybernetic platform. As a "Dark Trooper", Vale has been on the front fighting against the Brotherhood of the Maw, singularly focused on that conflict until Edrik, her brother, was charged with "unauthorised disclosure of privileged information" by zealots of the Imperial Security Bureau committed to Tarkinist politics and loyal to the deceased Jaeger Harrsk. Vale refused to believe that her brother would knowingly jeopardise the integrity of classified information; what was worse is that the Imperial Security Bureau would not provide definitive answers as to whether Edrik was in state custody or out on bail concerning that charge but quietly suspected Edrik had been transported to one of the Imperial Security Bureau's black-sites.

Being careful to cover her inquiries, Vale secretly makes contact with former Imperial Cadets who she knew now to be working for the Imperial Security Bureau; the information she synthesis from her various sources lead her to conclude that Edrik was taken into custody for attempting to disclose the operations and activities of Prefsbelt command to the foreign press. Vale concluded the arrest occurred while Edrik's Star Destroyer was in space-dock and had a secret closed-doors summary trial which left him dishonoured and transferred into the custody of "Prefsbelt Command," one of the many governments which supported Irveric Tavlar's New Imperial Order. Publicly available information on the activity of Pfiefdom of Carlyle Rausgeber was scarce; what could be deduced from logistic reports was it manufactured and shipped tremendous quantities of arms and armament, leading Vale to fear that Edrik was being interned in some nature of labour camp.

It wouldn't take long for Vale to arrange a mechanical malfunction aboard an Imperial warship transporting her that necessitated a stop in the orbital space docks of Prefsbelt Command. Vale used the opportunity and her mastery over technology to remotely access a limited sample of camera feeds across Prefsbelt Command. What Vale's mind processed left her disgusted and stunned, lines of unwashed and malnourished looking Human Men and Women existing in gunmetal and fiery inescapable nightmare. Vale's intrusion was detected and evicted from the network, though managing to remain anonymous, clogging Prefsbelt's databases with zettabytes of bloatware in an attempt to frustrate their operations, if only mildly. At this moment, Vale resolved to kill Carlyle Rausgeber for his atrocities against mankind and, more specifically, her brother. Vale would see Edrik released and came to suspect that the level of secrecy surrounding Prefsbelt command did not even the Imperator was privy to its operations.

Vale's loyalty to the New Imperial Order was shaken, not destroyed. She continued to participate in the War of the Maw. Still, it would also seek out neutral personnel among the New Imperial Military who might have been exposed to Prefsbelt Command's corrupt practices and accursed facilities. Hoping to obtain evidence of their cruelty to present to a member of the Imperial Assembly.

Vale was deployed onto Maridun to support an Imperial Security Bureau operation to breach and obtain any useful resources or research inside an abandoned Confederacy of Independent Systems bunker concealed deep within a dense forest. Vale deployed by Gunship with Ziare Dyarron through the thick forest canopy with difficulty and made their way on foot to a rendezvous point; one of their company Lieutenant Salvor King rushed ahead from his own gunship and engaged several droid guards outside the bunker's sealed doors, narrowly escaping injury Vale harshly chastised him.
