SPECIAL FEATURES
- Custom order for a HP-001 made by Talohn which includes all of the capabilities of the original design with noted modifications. Base modifications include the revision of all materials utilized in the weapon as all of the highest quality metals and materials are incorporated into its design. This includes the use of a Phrik-A frame, FM-001/002/003 for their various protections, coats, and structural additions. This makes the weapon lighter, able to perform at much higher performance tolerances, and otherwise overall more reliable and robust in construction.
- Blaster Pistol upgrades include the reinforced Phrik-A barrel allowing for higher temperatures and FM-003 conduits and reinforcements in wiring allowing for higher power charges. This allows for each shot from the heavy blaster pistol to hit harder, fly further and faster, while also reducing the recoil due to a revamped recoil system.
- Class-D Disintegration Pistol has similar upgrades, the barrel's increased strength and the use of FM-003 to reinforce the conduits powering the weapon system allowing for higher power shots. This allows for similar performance upgrades, allowing for the weapon to shoot further due to the increased charge. The weapon also features a revamped recoil system allowing for the barrel to reciprocate, allowing the barrel to absorb and dissipate some of the recoil before it actually interacts with the operator.
- Slug Thrower and Verpine Shatter Gun configurations have received the same but more comprehensive revisions. Use of better materials and extreme quality in both build strength and reliability. For the recoil system a free floating reciprocating barrel connects to a buffer system that not only absorbs recoil but turns in a clockwise direction to dissipate more of the weapon's recoil outwards evenly allowing for the weapon system to be fired from a single hand. Barrels have also been threaded to allow for the use of muzzle devices such as flash hiders, silencers, or even more offensive attachments such as dual mounted door breaching attachment or pistol mounted bayonet (look I know, some grunts are just weird).
- Ion weapon configuration's improvements follow more in line with Blaster and Disruptor upgrades, however with the added bonus of the higher quality materials allowing for even larger and more powerful charge packs to be utilized. This alongside the recoil of the weapon in this configuration being mostly nullified, allows for the weapon system to be used almost as a automatic pistol. This rate of fire isn't too particularly high, but is certainly a welcome standard over just pulling the trigger every time you want the weapon to go bang.
- The real beauty behind this weapon however, is that it is capable of utilizing proper smart munitions. This is made possible and was only incorporated into the weapon system with the inclusion of the Ion/EMP protective material that is FM-001. With this level of Ion/EMP protection present in the system, they were able to incorporate various chips, micro-computing technologies, and several smaller sensors into the weapon system. This all feeds into the pistol grip of the weapon system, allowing the operator to not only power the weapon but receive/transmit data to the onboard computers of the weapon via gloves or hand modifications. This allows for the operator to simply (provided they have the necessary modifications or gloves or whatever) grab the pistol and be immediately provided all the data they could possibly want about the weapon while also being able to simply select targets for the rounds to target. This information includes ammunition counts, types of ammunition, and predicted trajectory of the ammunition from bullet/shot flight paths, Time To Target predictions, possible ricochet trajectories based on origin of impact and speed of the round, and allowing for the operator to program more modes with the available sensor/computing packages should they develop further modes of operation. This brings this pistol to the forefront of heavy pistols, as not only can it utilize a variety of widespread ammunitions, but it can do so at the highest performances possible, while making shooting the thing child's play.
STRENGTHS
- Extremely adaptable and reliable - This pistol was designed to be customizable by the owner to not only accept most types of rounds that are generally available but also FI's own slug thrower technology. The inclusion of various laminates and FI's copyrighted material technology also makes the construction of this weapon extremely reliable in even the most inhospitable climates, including those with actively disruptive fields to technology and their weapons. That means that regardless of where you're going, what you're doing, or how many times you club the bad guy with this pistol, it absolutely will shoot, accurately and with deadly force. Just make sure you load the right ammo.
- Smart Round Technology - This weapon system incorporates the necessary technology to make it capable of accepting and utilizing self guided "smart" rounds. This includes the ability to have rounds make drastic changes in direction and be able to hit targets off the original bore of the weapon system. That being said you can't exactly turn around and shoot in the opposite direction and expect the round to do a 180 then blast a hole in some poor sod as physics doesn't work like that. This however gives this weapon's operator extreme access to being creative in a firefight as some shots that would normally be impossible with a pistol are now not only possible, but actually doable.
WEAKNESSES
- Ammunition still has its limitations - This weapon while offering their respective ammunition's capabilities at peak operation, doesn't negate each rounds various weaknesses. Ion is still generally considered a Non-Lethal type of round (unless you seriously kill someone from the radiation which good god man you'll be there a while), Blasters and Disruptors can be still affected by the atmosphere meaning that they can be dissipated under various atmospheric conditions. Verpine Shatter Rounds unless specifically designed and shot a very specific speed with break apart after contact with large masses of various materials (water for example) due to the interaction of the kinetic energy on a solid projectile as it passes through various substances. Bullets are, well, actual bullets meaning that you either get the dumb variety which you have to actually aim the things and adjust for bullet drop, wind, and various other factors, or you get the smart variety which are much more expensive and just generally less effective at delivering that knockdown power without specialized warheads. Which you guessed it make them even more expensive.
- DO NOT, and I mean, DO NOT MIX THE AMMUNITION - So a noted problem in the original weapon system was that if you mixed ammunition up with different configurations you'd get varying degrees of bad results. This is because that while blaster, Ion, and disruptor technology are quite different in their methods of operation they are similar enough that only one of them would turn the weapon into a bomb because of its specific energy in the system. This problem was noted with the first weapon initially designed for this commission as when it was run through safety tests, it exploded after mixing the Ion charge packs with blaster tech rendering all of the tech on the pistol inert. When all parts were either repaired or replaced they attempted a similar mishap with the blaster charge pack and the Ion barrel. Thankfully a droid was using the weapon because it detonated with the force of a thermal detonator (Note this is the second ever produced weapon). We have since noted the earlier failures of the disruptor tech with the original models and so did not bother to test it. You have been warned. Don't. Mix. The. Ammunition.
DESCRIPTION
It wasn't long after the debut of the HP-001 "Atin" pistol series that a call came in for a request for a custom version of the weapon was made. The specific buyer in question, a Mandalorian calling themselves "Talohn", wanted a weapon system that was of this original model, however they wished for it to be of the highest quality both in materials and technology available. This commission was accepted readily by the engineers and techs at Freebirds Industries, hoping that such higher quality models could even justify their own line of pistols, making several different classifications of this pistol being submitted to the review department pending trials and marketability review. The original test bed for this however, was this specific custom order. Originally the pistol was slated to go through several design and production phases, utilizing the more expansive technologies available at FI to make this pistol more up to FI's standard of absolute performance and reliability at a reasonable price. There was an incident however during the safety reviews of the pistol, noting that the higher powered charges of the blaster, Ion, and disruptor cells increased the volatility of the weapon significantly making it a veritable bomb if not handled properly, whereas before the weapon would just operate ineffectively (excluding the disruptor rounds of course). This is still undergoing development at Freebirds Industries as while they are more than happy with the reliability, accuracy and performance of the new weapon system they are however dissatisfied with how much a safety hazard the mishandling of the ammunition is.
