HISTORY

After the fall of the One Sith much of the Galactic Core were left to their own devices, while the Galactic Alliance dealt with threats closer to their direct borders. The First Order was quickly becoming an existential threat after the fall of the Sith and needed to be dealt with right away. This meant that much of the Core had to figure out their own problems.

Fa Holdings was steadily and with confidence making a name for itself in the Galaxy as a trustworthy powerbroker, who could get things done when others had failed or who did not even think it important to try.

After the investment in the Core Energy sector turned out to be a wild success with much revenue flowing in, Lord Fa started to look for new opportunities. This came roughly six months into his attempts to restore the Humbarine Sector back to industrial prominence.

It was noted that much of the energy they relied on had always come from Sarapin, a volcanically active world, who at one time supplied about eighty percent of the energy needs for the Core during the days of the old Republic and Empire. While Lord Fa had invested in on-location energy infrastructure - basically carrying energy from generation to location - the geothermal market was a different beast. One which the ambitious Thirriken was only happy to dabble in.

Sarapin had been conquered by the One Sith years ago, efficiently and without much loss in civilian life - unique compared to their usual tactics - but as often is the case… things did not stay well. Once the One Sith suffered its first hosts of major setbacks against the Alliance, the upper leadership (what remained) decided upon a drastic course of action.

Scorched planet, destroy that which they had laid claim on and then retreat back into the shadows.

Some worlds survived this, some even managed to repulse the attempts and some Sith even betrayed the orders - figuring it was preferable to rule as Warlords of the planets, instead of disappearing into the shadows.

Sarapin was spared the fate of Selvaris and others, but much of the valuable infrastructure was damaged and destroyed.

Lord Fa saw opportunity here, though, as he often did. In the face of no centralized government, chaos reigning, the Thirriken decided to instill order where he could with his troops and funds assisting in the relief. At the same time he set to work to restore some of the infrastructure of the geothermal installations. Building new facilities on the volcanic territory and pushing it forward to new standards, ensuring there was efficiency here as well.

DESCRIPTION

The Crux-class facilities are standardized for efficiency and productivity, but as often is the case the ancient proverb of ‘If it ain’t broken, don’t fix it’ is working here as well. It is for this reason that the facility has taken much inspiration from other assets Fa Holdings has invested in across the Galaxy, this ranges from the defensive armament, the shielding and the turret lines, all in a steady measure to protect the facilities from being targeted by hooligans.

One major difference is the increase of troops that the facility carries from the standard 300 Vigor Troopers to 600. This in an attempt to have a more balanced force that is capable of providing measured responses when being threatened.

The Crux-class facilities have also taken inspiration from the ancient geothermal facilities on Sarapin. Most of them destroyed in the aftermath of the Sith’s official retreat from the Core, there were still old schematics and the sort in forgotten archives to draw information from.

For this reason Fa Holdings determined two key sources of energy on the volcanic worlds it operated on.

First the active volcanos themselves, where drilling installations were constructed and improved upon. It was determined that the drilling facilities could be used to overload the tectonic plates and the continents, if the operators lost control over the drill. This was not a preferable outcome and so failsafe mechanisms were put in place to avoid it. Automated checks ensure that the drilling does not go over a certain threshold and if it does, access is immediately cut to the generators providing power for the operations.

A secondary source of energy are the energy collectors that can be found lining alongside lava flows and siphon off the energy from it. The collectors draw the geothermal energy from the many flows and are grouped together into larger collection farms.

From there its all stored into energy collection repositories. Where the energy awaits transportation off-world to their destinations. These repositories are outfitted with hangar bays, landing platforms and other means of loading up and unloading the equipment necessary for the facilities.

All of this ensured that Fa Holdings held a stake not only in the delivery and generation of energy on-site, but also had a substantial stake in the shipment of energy towards the various areas in the Galaxy.
