STRENGTHS

Fast and Maneuverable: The Cabur-Type Corvette is known for its speed and is quick and nimble even compared to other vessels of its class. With a class 1 hyperdrive it is capable of rapidly deploying to any sector of Mandalorian space and once it gets there it has the speed and maneuverability to make its presence felt and quickly counter any threats.

Well-Armed: Although not designed to counter larger capitol ships, the Cabur is more than sufficiently armed to handle ships larger than itself and is especially adapt in countering starfighters and the numerous types of ships commonly used by most pirates and smugglers.

Advanced SLAM Capability: Is equipped with a SLAB-01 SubLight AfterBurner and AIMS-01 Active Internal Maneuverability System by the N&Z Umbrella Corporation which in tandem will allow the vessel to temporarily exchange one or two levels of speed for an equal and opposite level of maneuverability.

Semi-Automated: The benefits of being semi-automated are that the ship requires a smaller crew which reduces logistical, operational and maintenance burdens for the crew allowing for longer less stressful deployments. Automation also reduces the processing and response time needed to react and counter threats during hostilities while still enabling human command, control and oversight.

WEAKNESSES

Semi-Automated: Along with the benefits of automatization there are also disadvantages. Ion and EMP type of attacks have the potential to inflict increased damage upon the ships system. Offline systems will have an exacerbated effect upon the ships performance as the reduced crew would have a difficult time and a drastically increased workload to manually maintain the ships ongoing operational requirements without droid or auto-system assistance.

Uneven Defensive Coverage: The majority of the vessel's weapons are mounted on the upper portion of the ships hull with limited firing positions being able to engage targets directly below. The rear arc is also weakly defended with but a single cannon emplacement able to engage to the rear.

A Skirmisher not a Brawler: Although well-armed the Cabur-Type Corvette is designed primarily for paramilitary patrol and security duty not for battle line deployment as its offensive profile is heavily optimized against small craft. It lacks heavy turbolasers and will struggle when trading blows with larger frigates or heavy warships.

Reliant on External Support: The Cabur-Type Corvette does not have an internal hanger bay and is therefore reliant on external support for fighter cover if needed. Even if accompanied by supporting fighters the Cabur is unable to provide any kind of logistical support for them.


DESCRIPTION

Continuing their practice of modifying existing platforms to the specifications of the Protectorate Guard Patrol, the design firm of Mando-De'Loren Multi Atmospherics have applied their skill to the traditional Mandalorian Crusader Corvette. To all outward appearances this is a bog-standard copy of the venerable and highly respected corvette from Mandal Hypernautics but MDL has upgraded the internal systems and electronics to bring its capabilities up to state-of-the-art modern performances calling their iteration the MDL Crusader 'Cabur'-Type Customs Corvette.

The ships hyperdrive had been upgraded to the third generation OS-HD3 system from N&Z Corporation allowing it to rapidly deploy to all sectors of Mandalorian space and to quickly jump into and out of hyperspace enabling the craft to rapidly engage in attacks and just as swiftly disengage. The tried-and-true Girodyne Ter58 Ion engines were retained for compatibility with the Crusaders operated by other branches of the Mandalorian Navy but were tuned for optimal operation providing the Cabur with ample speed in realspace. A robust powerplant, the Maji Ironworks Multi-Fuel Fission Reactor, provides power enough to operate the weapons, shields and engines at high power settings without the risk of overloading and is capable of running on multiple types of fuel giving the ship added flexibility.

The Cabur-Type Customs Corvette is the largest class of ship normally assigned to standard Guard Patrol formations with every sector and major port having at least one on station to ensure free navigation and enforce Mandalorian customs and border regulations. With its ion weaponry and the ability to carry boarding pods and troops it is able to disable and seize resisting craft, its sophisticated communications, sensors and jamming equipment allow it to monitor shipping and track radio traffic for an entire sector. and its six batteries of turbo lasers allow it to challenge and defeat all but the largest of pirate groups.

Able to carry a troop of 36 Aran'verd (Guard Patrol troopers) which are meant for security, policing and boarding operations rather than traditional ground combat although they are trained in light infantry and anti-riot tactics. Automation has reduced the crew requirements allowing space for redundant systems, crew amenities, and secure holding brigs allowing the vessel to remain on station for extended periods of time.

The one major capability this vessel lacks is the ability to embark and maintain a supporting fighter compliment. It is able to equip two Maxi-Pod auxiliary boarding shuttles which adds some utility but any needed fighter support must be coordinated from non-integral assets. Thankfully the Guard Patrol operates such assets and various gunships or fighters are routinely assigned to support its operations but it does add complications to the organization and logistics of deployment.

Like the variants before it the MDL Crusader 'Cabur'-Type Customs Corvette has exceptional speed, a heavy offensive armament and is noted for its advanced automated point-defense capabilities. Added to these general capabilities the Cabur adds formidable boarding capability for its size as well as an ability to hold and transport prisoners. These advantages contribute to the reputation of the Crusader Corvette as being one of the most effective corvettes fielded today.
