OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
SETTING INFORMATION
  • Astronomical Location Name: K-20
  • Classification: Moon
  • Location: Terminus System
  • Rotational Period: ~6 Hours
  • Orbital Period: 93 Days (Around Crossroads)
  • Size: Medium (x0.8 Earths @0.6G)
  • Affiliation: Crossroads Republic Armed Forces
  • Population: Moderate
  • Demographics: ~360,000,000
    • 90% Human (Predominantly descended from Eriaduan, Caridan, Corellian, Hosnian, and Alderaanian colonists)
    • 10% Other
  • Accessibility: Trade hub and popular destination for refugee families and colonists.
  • Description:
    • A pock-marked grayish-white rock which is too small to support an atmosphere. There are several semi-underground cities on the surface with durasteel and transparisteel with a mix of underground and on-surface highway tubes with rails for mag-lev trains and speeder traffic. All of the lived-in facilities with artificial gravity are, by law, required to set their gravity to mimic the heavier gravity of Crossroads Prime to insure that military recruits possess the biological strength that is required to potentially serve on Crossroads Prime, which makes it somewhat harder to live on Crossroads-4 for non-humans whose physiology may not be as adaptable to heavy gravity.
    • Large transparisteel domed botanic farms growing a vast variety of produce and small herds of livestock surround the cities on the surface. They are successful enough to grow enough produce to export much of it for sale. These crops and livestock are almost entirely from non-Hosnian sources due to the fact that non-Hosnian crops aren't allowed on Crossroads Prime.
    • Structures are quite safe from the moon itself, as it is no longer tectonically active.
    • There are large factories and shipyards belonging to Crossroads Defense Industries. The shipyards are large dug-out pits with anti-gravity plating to assist in efficient transport of heavy objects. The ships that are built or refitted here are nestled into these slipways, and constructed under the protection of the facilities' defenses which face outwards at the only direction an opponent can attack from, providing additional security to these strategic assets.
    • There are other examples of heavy industry present on the moon along with other more white-collar jobs which support the blue-collar workers, with manufacturing and service industry of all kinds appreciating the safety of the world and eased-up standards which heavy industry is forced to endure at Crossroads Prime.
    • Like Crossroads Prime, a planetary shield system is present over the world, but it is not nearly as powerful as the one over Crossroads Prime.
    • In order to travel on the surface of Crossroads-4 one needs a protective zero-atmosphere space suit and oxygen supply.
    • Noted for being a fairly boring world, where there isn't much happening in terms of major cultural output or uniqueness.
POINTS OF INTEREST
  • Domed semi-underground cities.
  • Large spreads of domed botanical farms.
  • Large military shipyards dug into the surface.
  • Widespread surface and underground factories and civilian shipyards.
  • Underground mines.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Crossroads-4 is the first colony of Crossroads Prime. Initially, this moon was sought as another candidate for terraforming, however the moon was unable to retain an atmosphere, and so industrialists on Crossroads Prime sought to colonize it anyway and were able to operate quite efficiently, free from the world's stringent environmental protection laws. However, due to the fact Crossroads-4 is under the authority of Crossroads Prime the moon is still required to enforce many of Crossroads Prime's main environmental codes to protect their population of workers and families. Nowadays, it is almost impossible to go anywhere on Crossroads-4 without seeing a domed city, a travel tube, a factory complex, or a shipyard. The people who live on Crossroads-4 tend to be no-nonsense straight-shooting people, who are proud of who they are and what it is they build or do. Refugees coming from other worlds tend to come to Crossroads-4 for its ease of finding a steady job there. While it may lack the refinement or the beauty of Crossroads Prime the world is legally an equal to Crossroads Prime, as all people born there are citizens, and representatives elected to the legislature from Crossroads-4 have the same weight of vote as their homeworld counterparts.
