A sister line to the Asclepius, the Coronis is laid on the same hull and shares many of the same characteristics. The largest divergence being that the Coronis has no medical facilities instead converting the med bays and central passage to a cargo hold which is easily loaded via the rear ramp or floor elevator. Crew accommodations are also dropped to a more comfortable two persons and enlarged with added seating and entertainment. Luxury touring yacht might be a misnomer given that most of the interior is given over to cargo, but it’s not far off with its sleek interior and advanced technology placing it in a class of its own.
The scanners are the first line of defense for the ship, capable of quickly searching out threats before they pounce, allowing the Coronis to use its high speed to evade the danger before it ever closes to a range where the defensive armament it carries becomes necessary. For pure defense, an EM probe launcher can confuse incoming warheads into missing. Strong, fast replenishing deflector and ion shields prevent the ship from easily being disabled while a pair of dual laser turrets, one dorsal and one ventral, provide the Coronis it’s only offensive defense. Believing that the best fight is one you never get into, a HIMS unit prevents the ship from being pulled from hyperspace while an anti-ion emission tracer prevents tracking it through hyperspace allowing it to remain elusive.
