STRENGTHS

Fighter Wing - The Corona-class was designed to be capable of deploying a full Starfighter Wing consisting of up to three squadrons of Starfighters, Bombers, or a mix thereof.

WEAKNESSES

Minimal Armament - The vessel was designed to focus on providing Anti-Starfighter screens; due to this, it was not equipped with heavier armaments. This can be seen in its lighter armaments that would have some difficulty engaging a heavier armored target such as a Heavy Frigate or Light Cruiser.

Average - Despite its minimal armaments and its expanded hangar capacity, the bulk of the Corona-class is known for being rather average without any specialization or focus on other aspects such as defenses, speed, or maneuverability.

DESCRIPTION

With the Galactic Alliance Defense Force undergoing a continued modernization program in which older vessels have been decommissioned or mothballed in favor of newer warships, it quickly became apparent that the Galactic Alliance was falling behind when it came to the availability of Frigates. As other designs and classifications had quickly outpaced and deployed in greater numbers, the need to fill out their Frigates became a priority which resulted in the creation of the Corona-class Frigate. Designed to serve as a light escort, it is also more than capable of handling Anti-Starfighter Pickets due to a focus on increasing its hangar capacity. The Corona-class is known to be capable of carrying and deploying a full Wing of Starfighters, consisting of up to three squadrons total. This allows the vessel to support itself in its role as an Anti-Starfighter vessel, or as a Light Escort. However, the increase of its hangar capacity resulted in a decrease of its overall armament which can be seen in its limited number of heavier ordnance. Beyond these minor focuses, there is nothing much that really causes the Corona-class to standout as it is, for all intents, a rather average vessel that is mass-produced to fill a specific role and function within the Galactic Alliance. However, despite its lack of a specialization and its focus on being a vessel that is meant to be deployed en masse, the Corona-class is still a capable vessel. Either due to its expanded hangar capacity, or its focus on providing Anti-Starfighter Pickets, the Corona-class is an all around balanced vessel and an additional tool to the always expanding and ever present Naval Might of the Galactic Alliance.
