BIOGRAPHY:

Connory was born Galeth Hennst, son of a Mandalorian bounty hunter and her nemesis (and, briefly, husband), an Echani pirate. Raised by his mother on Concordia, Galeth underwent a verd'goten at twelve and was ori'ramikade by twenty. Troubles emerged when he married young, and his bride and her parents -- members of a well-to-do Coruscanti family -- died violently. Partially responsible for their deaths, he fled to the Unknown Regions, where he took a job as a mechanic on a tramp freighter called the Solid Sunrise. Eventually he found his way to Trevel'ka, where the Jukre sages wiped aggression and muscle memory from his mind with moderate success. Given a new lease on life, Galeth became Rel Connory, Bard of the Hyperlanes, an ardent pacifist and useless in a fight.

As the Bard, Connory had sources everywhere, kept his ear to the ground, and lampooned the universe in poorly written drinking songs. His verses can still be heard in cantinas across the Outer Rim. Most people believed him to be an effete infochant or, for some reason, a hutt. He stayed on as a tramp freighter crewman, where his knack for engineering blossomed into a full-fledged calling.

Apart from wandering, he spent the next several years on and around Eshan, seeking to understand that side of his heritage. He served alongside Janira and Zandra Fenni and Kamon Vondiranach, and was a close confidant of Spencer Jacobs, who served a term as Queen of Eshan. He aided the Echani in repelling Omni's invasion. He was the Echani delegate who negotiated Eshan's inclusion into the Republic, and served as its first and third senator (the second being Yusan Fenn).

Meanwhile, however, Connory continued his associations with the Mandalorians, aiding them in resisting the Sith Empire and bolstering the Echani/Mandalorian alliance. He was already known as a trusted friend of the Mandalorians when he, along with Warren [member="Valik"], designed and built the Shev'la Kal, the galaxy's first cloaked capital ship in centuries. In his search for mastery of stygium technology, he fell in love with [member="Mia Monroe"] while prospecting for crystals in the Aeten Nebula.

During his Senate tenure, Connory's Mandalorian sympathies were known, but his original identity was not. He served with distinction as chair of the Finance Committee, investigating misuse of Republic funds and pioneering anti-Force-interference measures in Senate procedure.

After Mia's torture by Nemene Talith, Connory found himself unable to cope. While participating in the annihilation of Circe Savan's influence over Serpena, he stepped into blasterfire and was seriously wounded. Mia's use of mando'a, his own stress, desperate circumstances and increasing pain broke the Jukre conditioning, or at least fractured it. For the first time in ten years, he picked up a lethal weapon, and turned Subach personnel to hamburger while lying in his own blood.

Ashamed of his suicide attempt, and conscious that Mia needed him, Connory resolved to be the sort of man who could cope with her maiming and torture. He resolved, once more, to be Galeth Hennst.

INFILTRATION OF THE ONE SITH

Connory pled personal and medical reasons for his resignation from the Senate. By and large, he fell off the map. He surfaced, on occasion, when the Republic needed help -- he was behind the implementation of SCINET throughout Republic space, and its opposition to the Serenity incursion. In secret, he was working on a plan.

Connory's next play was to reinvent himself comprehensively. Longtime lover of a well-educated Force master, and associate of others, Connory uncovered a way to grant himself Force sensitivity by duplicating Desann's ancient experiments. Like the hundreds of empowered Reborn and Shadow Troopers, Connory used Artusian crystals and the Valley of the Jedi to give himself an unnatural and unsustainable Force sensitivity. Connory had long been known as a non-Force-sensitive, proven by numerous Senate blood tests and thaissen crystal exposure. When paired with modest plastic surgery and a slightly different voice pattern, his new Force sensitivity allowed him to pass largely unnoticed as a low-profile Sith acolyte specializing in tech support.

Under the name Darth Parash, he began collecting information. He secured a position as apprentice to Darth Carach, a Voice of the Dark Lord. He was operational at Cato Neimoidia (meeting with Carach), Bilbringi (concealing dormant SCINET iterations aboard the shipyards under the guise of destroying them), Selvaris (in-depth sensor/mathematical analysis of world-scale Vongshaping), Sluis Van (corresponding with Dagora-Kel), Sarapin (repairing major geothermal power plants), Redoubt (participating in naval combat as an observer/advisor), Eclipse (terraforming), Crina (token ground involvement), Bilbringi again (engaging with SCINET iterations aboard the shipyards under the guise of searching for them), and Iridonia (data recovery). At the Battle of Telti, he commanded one hundred stormtroopers to run in circles for tactically important reasons. Though the depth of his access was never especially impressive, the breadth of his efforts was at least consistent.

During his undercover work inside the One Sith, Connory was notified that his lover, Mia Monroe, had died.

IN FROM THE COLD

After the captures and kills he witnessed at Telti, Connory decided to come in. During a mission to investigate a subtle but odd subspace signature on Metellos, he arranged for his 'death' at the hands of Echani commandos, and covered his bases with obsessive precision. His body, identifiably that of Darth Parash by every conceivable metric, was left by his 'attackers' after a brief and eminently realistic fight. Using a Spaarti appearance tailoring unit, Parash adjusted his appearance back to original specs and exfiltrated himself and the commandos on the Veil. Darth Parash was dead; Rel Connory, an older, shorter, non-Force-sensitive man, had come back from a long recuperation. He was welcomed on Eshan in his old social circles, and returned to a life of relaxing political mundanity.

That, at least, was the plan. To his irritation, Republic Intelligence led him along and then spurned him. Taking the information he'd collected, including access codes to buried sabotage mechanisms within major One Sith facilities, Connory retired from politics.

At this point, he began seriously examining his investments. Decades of invention royalties and contractor fees had piled up to a fairly ridiculous sum. Connory fell in with a group called the Foundation Trust, which believed that another Dark Age was coming and aimed to prepare the galaxy via gene banks, buried archives, and hidden colonies. Along with the Trust, Connory purchased a majority share of the sprawling, heterogeneous shipwright firm Iron Crown Enterprises. Connory applied himself to reorganizing and revitalizing ICE.

During this time, Connory encountered a resurrected Mia Monroe. Their reunion on Dathomir was passionate but brief, an attempt to recapture the past. Something was missing; something had changed; and both those somethings centered on him. When they'd met, he'd been a young, idealistic, pacifist inventor; now he was a retired politician, a successful infiltrator and saboteur, and one of the galaxy's wealthiest sentients. He returned to his work. He also dabbled in politics and intelligence somewhat, digging into the Imperium as well as the Republic.

NEXT STEPS

In short order, ICE consolidated and standardized its assets across the galaxy, and underwent exponential growth. Its goals met, the Trust sold back its majority share to Darell Irani, including Connory's seventeen-percent stake. Now lacking in equity but awash in cash, Connory turned his attention to rebuilding himself. Though he couldn't shake the post-traumatic stress of Mia's torture and death, or of his suicide attempt, or the things he'd witnessed in the One Sith, Connory fixed what he could. That included the leftover physical damage from his suicide attempt, as well as years behind a desk. Sith training had only taken him so far; now he relied on top-of-the-line myostim units and sharp-edged discipline, hoping to rebuild his spirit as he reforged his body.

He still had no intention of publicizing his birth name and his old ori'ramikade rank -- a role he doubted he could pull off anymore regardless. However, as Rel Connory, he'd been named an honorary Rally Master many years ago, in the wake of the Omni crisis. Though clanless, he set out to make his longtime secret allegiance more overt, more active -- in short, to be known as a Mandalorian again. Though he had little hope of rekindling a lasting connection with the equally damaged [member="Mia Monroe"], her Mandalorian affiliation was only one factor in his choice. The United Clans of Mandalore and the Mandalorian Empire were on the verge of war, while surrounded by worse enemies and better targets. Connory decided something had to be done.

I really don't. I mean, my lampoons of Ember Rekali, Daer'Gunn, Mikhail Sage and Damascus were pretty good, but most of these were written while under the influence of Ol' Janx Spirit.
