Conclave of the Jedi Order (The Galactic Republic).

Veiere's eyes closed a moment, inhaling through his nose as he listened to the words of [member="Cyril Grayson"] in response to that of the old man at [member="Sheila"]'s side, she herself who had somehow managed to misinterpret Veiere thinking that he had not recognized the current Council and it's complacency to do nothing whilst there was so much calling for reform. [member="Vorian Adasca"] had spoke for the Army of the Light, it sounded almost militant though Veiere saw his reasoning behind it as the Sith Empire had lost their Dark Lord though that time of confusion and disarray would not last and as they had always done before, they would find another to lead them against those of the Jedi Order, of Democracy and of the Light.

His gaze shifted to [member="Lady Kay"], she was going out of her way to offer him her vocal support despite not being a member of the Order and not wanting her talents in the Force to be recognized. The expression that he gave her whispered appreciation yet also silent apology for seeing her mixed up in the politics of the Jedi Order, these talks reminding him more of the Senate and less of the Jedi that knew patience and respect for life, and the opinions and differing minds of said living beings.

Looking again to [member="Cyril Grayson"], he offered a brief nod. The concept of leading was not to be a position one sought after but rather one accepted with the needs of the majority in mind and with that in Veiere's heart, he reluctantly did not answer Master Grayson in his suggestion, instead allowing that decision to be decided upon by the few who were willing to take action and to see the Jedi Order return to its former stature.

"I feel I must remind us all that we have not come here to divide ourselves any further than what has already been lost to us..." he spoke up following Grayson's words offered to [member="Sheila"] and the Older male beside her. Beyond this, he did not respond to anything more, wanting to hear more from the peers around them; some who had entered and yet to share their thoughts.

Part of him felt frustrated with the opposition that they were being met with, that the two members of the Order who were clearly happy to do little and allow the Jedi to further slip in their standards would speak against the conclave that sought to return them to their former role, something that was being met with great enthusiasm yet spearheaded by complacency out of fear that history were to repeat itself? Or was it a fear of change, perhaps even the loss of position amongst the Order; Veiere could only presume to guess. It was not that he was one man who they did not know, coming to Yutan to change everything but rather that he was one man who had spoken out and been met with the support of others that had suddenly revealed the need for change and a return of reform. Perhaps this was difficult for the old man to accept, aged and marred in his ways. Veiere would not offer the same disrespect that had been voiced unto him. If he was to be disregarded then so be it but he wished that the voices of the others be heard. Leading was not his intention, and the Republic was not the only place where the Jedi resided, Veiere had long term plans to help and support the others and while this forum was provoking controversy, he truly believed that the remnants of the Jedi Order of old, would come to be once more.

The cold durasteel gaze glanced the room from speaker to speaker as the meeting continued. Arguments were put forward and from the silence behind the mask, Senji contemplated on his fellow Jedi’s words. When Cyril gestured towards the gathering, inviting others to speak, Senji slowly stood, running a hand through his mane of black hair, a frown hidden behind the indifference of the steel mask.

“First of all.” A cough was heard from behind his mask, his voice remaining polite yet bass and monotone. He was not an experienced public speaker, that much was certain. “I agree. Sitting idle by while the forces of darkness consume the core worlds serves no one, but those consumed by the dark side of the force.” Senji replied to Vorian’s concern.

He adjusted his posture and turned towards the Cyril only briefly, his gaze inspecting him quietly for but a second before he nodded at him to show that he agreed at least partially to what he said. Afterwards Senji turned his eyes, hidden by his mask, towards the Grandmaster and in turn Sheila, by reflex adjusting the curved lightsaber attached his leather belt.

“I second what Master Cyril said. And forgive me for saying this Grandmaster, but denying notable members seat at the council due to their experience, when no other wiser active members than them currently exists within the Order is ludicrous. Our Order will not function without well-trained Masters, that much is evident.”

He sat down once more, placing his hands on his thighs as he looked about to continue his speech.

“While this may seem self-absorbed coming from one that have lived for 31 years within the order and have yet to attain a tutor of any kind... Nevertheless, I have long surpassed the optimal learning age and therefor do not qualify for much training, but I believe without any self-interest in mind that in order for us to thrive we must immediately begin to educate a new generation of Jedi Masters that can be placed within the council." He nodded slowly as his own words as he considered them once again.

Furthermore, I am no politician, but I believe it would be in the best interest of the Order to instate a rule that makes it so that you can only sit in the council for a certain period of time or any variation of such. This could guarantee, that the dark side does not take hold of our Order from within if that a concern any of you hold. For how long a term, so to speak, would last I do not know.”

He had said his for now and the voice behind the mask fell silent.

Dune broke his silence.

"Please, let's have above all, unity."

His voice was not loud. It didn't have to be when the room carried it.

"Infighting and strife won't help us. Master [member="Cyril Grayson"] is right. We are not dead or defeated."

He gestured to [member="Veiere Arenais"].

"Grandmaster, Jedi Arenais speaks true. Our Council must be reformed. If enough Masters are not present, we must select among our Knights the best and brightest."

"It was done in times past. Ki-Adi-Mundi, Anakin Skywalker were among those so selected for exceptional ability."

If it was done before it could be done again.

"Let us form a Council of those we feel are best suited. Let us think of the future of our Order."

He knew he wasn't saying anything that hadn't been said. But Dune Rhur was known as a voice of moderation. He hoped that he could ease the tensions in the chamber. The Bith knew that he'd ultimately abide by the collective decision for harmony.

Yutan, it was a world that Zarot had visited on occasion, one still within the hands of the jedi. With more territory falling to the Sith everyday it was relieving to know that there were still some lands of the jedi that hadn’t been destroyed or pillaged. Zarot had been one to fight alongside the Sith when the Vong had initially joined their efforts, and it regretfully took him many years to realize the wrong-doing of the Sith and the enslavement of his people. He needed to stop it, and he had been offered that chance with the jedi. More specifically by one named @Cyrill Grayson .

Zarot had received the summons, and while he had been given the time the hybrid acted when he pleased. He would not rush for anybody, not even fellow jedi. The closer the ship got to the surface the more he could feel the presences of other jedi. They were like beacons in the force guiding him home. “It has been too long.” He grunted out. He knew not of what had truly happened to the jedi in recent times, but from what he did know it hadn’t been good. They had stagnated, they were being trampled by the Sith and stood little chance. The Republic held nowhere near the power it had once had. They needed jedi, and Zarot had come for that purpose. Whether they took his help or not was the true question.

Bringing the ship in for a landing Zarot exited the ship causing the ramp to rock slightly from his weight. He was not a light man, standing at over eight feet tall and weighing close to four-hundred pounds make him quite the sight. The muscles of his body plainly obvious to any onlooker rippled as he walked to the front gate where two padawans stood guard. Looking up at the behemoth one of them gulped. Casting a glance down at the young man Zarot patted his shoulder gently so as to not break the human. “Do not worry, I’m on your side.”

Zarot’s appearance inspired fear in many very few weren’t fearful upon seeing the Vong Shaped Tof. “Keep up the good work.” Making his way past the youngling Zarot walked up to the chambers where the meeting was being held. Muffled voices came from the other side of the door, and he took it as a sign to enter. Pushing open the grand doors with a slam he strolled in during the discussion of who would be placed on the council. “Of course a council reform is necessary.” Zarot said agreeing with the Bith. It was obvious that he didn’t plan on holding his tongue for anyone in the meeting. “There should be no squabbling over such positions either. Those who have proven themselves worthy should be given seats. Those that haven’t will sit and deal with the choices made. Jedi do not care for power or prestige. Is this what I was called for?!” He shouted his mighty voice echoing off the walls.

The tension present in the room was more than obvious, but that was to be expected from such a meeting. The Galactic Republic was slowly but surely falling, many wanting to avoid the complacency of old. However, the recent events could not help but sway the brown haired man to think back to his studies of ancient Jedi history. The Jedi were infamous for waiting around till the last second, in some cases not doing anything at all. This was not always the case, but it seemed such oblivious behavior was behind the Orders of today now. Most of them. Those that were gathered in the conference room began to voice their opinions, bringing up the council and how it needed to be active once more.

Tugoro had not visited a Jedi temple in years, let alone met with any masters of the Order. He was truly shocked due to lack of masters available, though in his heart he had always known that the situation was bad. Rank elevation was also brought up, members of the conference desiring to assign notable Jedi the title of master. Years ago this would have excited the young man, when his eyes were bright and full of life, when his foolish ambitions and desire for attention were visible in his smug smirk. These things had died with long sleepless nights, and countless memories of death and failure.

Now, the thought of being a master hardly piqued his interest, if not scared it away altogether. Even though he had spent all of those years training in hopes of becoming closer to the force, one with it, Tugoro was unsure if he was ready, and decided that it was the will of the force that would decide when the time was right. For now, it was his turn to speak. "There really is no need for shouting," the man spoke, turning his head slightly to regard [member="Zator Carr"]. The brute definitely made a point, though simply not in the best manner. It was best to stray from the topic at hand, and deal with it at a later date. Continuing, Tugoro turned to [member="Cyril Grayson"], who for some reason reminded him of the battles fought against the New Order.

"A rebuild of the Order should be our focus, but what of the Republic?" Tugoro questioned, casting a glance to those present. "No doubt our restructuring will go hand in hand with the Republic, but should we not discuss how to contribute, without making the same mistakes of the past? I feel as if so many unnecessary decisions have been made in the past, that these lines have become blurred for some." The Knight concluded his input on the whole situation they faced, knowing that there would be more work to do than the revival of the Order and council. Worlds across Republic territory burned, and even more fell to the enemy everyday. The situation they faced was grim, indeed.

"The Jedi Order can prioritize itself during its reform while still maintaining its service to the Galactic Republic..." Veiere answered [member="Tugoro Taidarious"], offering a firm nod in agreement, "We have been at the center of the Republic for years beyond count, we will not pull away from them now. However, I feel there are certain boundaries that we must restore...-The lenience of instructing non-Jedi personnel is a great concern and one that encourages the misuse and the abuse of the Jedi Teachings. If we are best to serve the Republic, we must focus on training Jedi, seeing more of our students commit themselves to the path of the Order so that they might one day become Knights of the Republic and have the discipline not to stray from their path...", the lack of Jedi Personnel was a clear sign that the lax in teaching structure had not strengthened the Jedi Order at all but rather had seen to others come and go as they pleased, taking with them their learnings of the force elsewhere without the continued guidance and overwatch of the Jedi. "Furthermore, no Jedi should take part in the actions of the Senate or the matter of politics, again this goes to emphasize the need for care in who we instruct. The Force is too great a weapon of persuasion in the hands of one who might abuse it...".

"The Galactic Republic has many foes, many out there who would see Democracy fail and the Jedi are not soldiers, we are keepers of the peace and those who seek to maintain balance in the Force. Beyond the Republic Borders remain the Sith Empire, the Dark Side of the Force though it might take many forms. Without our aid, the Republic cannot hope to quell such a threat...-The Senate and the Jedi Order must stand as two separate entities, one does not contribute to the leadership of the other; yet we know that the Galactic Republic seeks to establish a livelihood for its people through equality and integrity, that it does not seek to rule but to govern and serve the people, and this is why we will continue to stand with them, now and always". At the heart of the Jedi Order, the core principles, one of them was said that the Jedi were to respect life in all forms. They knew that the Force flowed through life, connecting all living things and binding them together, blanketing the galaxy for miles beyond comprehension. To negate life was to wound the Force and to preserve it was to maintain balance, the natural flow of life that it continue in its uninterrupted cycle.

There were of course other ways that they could support the Republic, smaller ways that brought more ease of service to the force and did not see Jedi clashing against others in battle day in and day out. The Agri-corps were one such establishment, a sect of the Jedi Order and Republic personnel combined focused on the natural growth of worlds and the production of crops and the like, food stores that allowed lesser economical worlds to be supplied in times of crisis and famine. Then there were the Edu-Corps which, you guessed it, were all about the education of many various fields not always considered routine for Jedi. Those of the Sentinel Path often made use of the Edu-Corps to expand their knowledge in technological engineering, the maintenance of Jedi vehicles and tech-systems, datapad and that sort of thing. With a steady fleet, they could pursue the Ace Squadron of the Jedi Order once more. The abilities to provide support to the Republic was huge if only the Jedi could see themselves back to their former stature.

The Bith turned to face the huge newcomer. He found himself nodding in agreement with his boisterous fellow. This Jedi was right. Infighting had no place in the current situation.

[member="Tugoro Taidarious"]' question was quite valid. The Order had virtually always been tied to the Republic. [member="Veiere Arenais"] had an answer but that was not unexpected. He'd thought much about things.

"Whatever we do, let's actually do something," said Dune "Too many talks happen with no action."

He nodded to [member="Sheila"] who had fallen silent. The pixie-ish Master had been right on that account. Lots of talk and no action. Words were just air, after all.

"Let's first focus in rebuilding ourselves. Then we can worry about the Republic. Jedi Taidarious' point does stand, but for a future gathering."

He turned his gaze to the human and nodded slightly to his old ally from Nar Shadda. Dune had made a point of bringing this up later. Too often a Jedi felt their opinion didn't matter. Togoro's mattered because he knew the man had the Light in mind.

"Grandmaster, as it's been said, first a Council. Then we shore our foundations. After, we will address our old allies in the Galactic Republic. I don't think we will ever abandon them, in my opinion. This is my feeling on the issue."

(ignore my Dark Jedi tag, for story purposes etc etc)

It had only been a few months since she returned to what happens to now be the current state of the galaxy and its affairs. However, things change as they do and it was their job to accept those changes for whatever they may be. Though she had been adjusting herself back into the sway of things, she was contacted from members of the Jedi Order amongst the Republic. A Conclave was called...and she hadn't known them to have a temple on Yutan; much has changed. However she hadn't been amongst their member base for a long time but she always kept her ties helping when she could, if she could.

It would seem there was even more [member="Matsu Ike"] had to tell her...

The Togruta sat in her seat, shrouded in her earthly toned robes. For the time she hadn't said anything, instead listening to what the others had to offer. It was like her to hold her words unless she felt the need to interject them. But she had been to soo many conclaves that she was growing tired as much of her associates were when discussing such topics. Perhaps thats why the tension was thick...people were frustrated and that right they had.

She raised her index finger, and stood up. "I third what Master Cyril has proposed..." Her exotic accent broke through the crowd.

"Flexibility is a trait we should heed...most times we run to back to what we know, looking to see how things functioned before us." She brought her hands down, interlocked her fingers, and resting them on her abdomen. "There should be a Council...that I agree. Though permanent residence on such a body, no. Pick amongst those you have...and as you grow bring in new perspectives from time to time. Though on the issue...having a Knight present is uncommon but not unheard of. For those that have spoken, there is much promise here. Veiere would bring much needed wisdom."

She took her beat, "I was a full member of the Order before the inception of the One Sith, when its predecessor was at the forefront of the havoc...I have fought on numerous fronts, and have trained a multitude of students...I have seen much. Amongst those things...the greatest evil I have seen face the Jedi were themselves...most have failed to adapt, and the lack of flexibility has caused confusion and allowed the true threat to divide us. Looking forward...there isn't much to be done with those who have went their separate ways; they have made their choice." She turned to [member="Veiere Arenais"]

"Form the council, elect those with the courage to lead. Create a new code for a new era of Jedi. Lay the foundation for the students, they are the future. Remain firm in your decision to be an entity beside the Republic, advise and assist, do not partake. Furthermore, reach out to your brothers and sisters, not to shun or coerce but to form relations that will be benefitting in the future."

Alcohol and Smoking, two of Matthias Draay's greatest weaknesses. He picked up the glass of aged whiskey and took a long sip of the amber-green liquid. The whiskey had a more subtle citrus fruit with just a puff of smoke. Firm and smooth, it begins sweetly then yields a fragrant smokiness and a sweet-smoky, lingering finish. "Pretty good bottling." Matthias said to himself, then drew back on a cigar, full body flavor lingered in his mouth while he enjoyed the luxurious flavors of cedar, nuts, exotic spice, all made from the finest tobacco leaves around the galaxy. The Jedi master took his time, and didn't bother checking on the time. "Got somewhere you need to be?" The bartender asked while drying off a glass. Matthias shook his head and exhaled the smoke. "Yes. But I don't want to be drawn into galactic politics. How many years have I coming telling you I want nothing do with politics?" The bartender nodded at Jedi's response. "I know Matthias, but the people around here need someone to look out for them, and not just on the streets, or from the office in the slums you run." The bartender set the glass he was cleaning down. "You can't hide here forever." Matthias exhaled sharply, partially admitting defeat. "No. No I can't."

The trip from Denon was not to long. Stepping off the ship, Matthias smelt like whiskey, cigars, and black coffee. Putting on a dark brown fedora and straightening his matching blazer he walked towards the Jedi Enclave. He was late, yet it did not bother him. Probably because he did not want to be here. But responsibility called, and [member="Cyril Grayson"] had asked him beforehand. He ran his hand through his thick black hair, getting a whiff of cigar smell that lingered. Passing security with a quick flash of an identification badge, in the old days his family's name was enough to get him in anywhere. Not so anymore. He offered a smile and nodded to the aides that led him to the chambers wear the meeting was being held. Eventually he could hear the voices of the Jedi speaking, then he finally entered the meeting to see his fellow Jedi, he was late, and had arrived just in time hear [member="Sochi Ru"] begin to speak and support Master Cyril's proposal. It was good to see he had some support other than himself.

"Villainy." Matthias said cutting in after Sochi spoke, standing behind everyone and leaning against the wall. Perhaps he was making a rhetorical statement of the threat poised not just to the Jedi and the Republic, but to the galaxy itself. Maybe he would lecture them all on the responsibility to hunt down the users of the Dark Side.

He held up a large cigar in his right hand between his middle and index finger, the stuck it in his mouth. Fishing out a butane lighter from his blazer, and then with a metallic flick the flames came to life to light the end of the Cigar. He drew back, then after a long moment let out a puff of smoke. "Dark Ligero filler tobaccos from the most fertile growing regions in the gaxaly, brought together in a tasty Habano binder. Finished with fine leaves that are covered in a dark brown and glimmering with oil, and a Viso Habano wrapper." He hoped that they realized that Villainy was the name of the cigar. "So. Hopefully y'all have taken the time to carve up the order among yourselves. So what I miss?"

Kay-Larr

Sphaera Tea Company Owner
Kay looked to [member="Veiere Arenais"] and bowed her head to him. It seemed as though things were progressing nicely and it wasn't her place to be there to distract the Jedi from their goals. Politics was her path, no matter how many times she had tried to leave it.

She slowly retreated towards the door. Hopefully all went well and that herself and Commenor could count on the Jedi for help when it was needed. Crime Lords were trying to get a foothold on the streets, as well as try to smuggle illegal goods through their ports. And the One Sith territory was still on the very edge of their borders. Already their region of space had been attacked, but thankfully Commenor was spared.

Kay took one last look before walking out the door. She wasn't going to leave Yutan just yet, but remain nearby so that she could hear of the results of this meeting. From what she could tell, it seemed very promising.

All had valid points. All seemed to agree on the heart of the matter. Veiere would be the focal point for this reformation, if one could call it that. The knight had made that decision whether he had known it or not when calling this conclave. So long as he remained, Cyril had no doubt that those gathered would find a reason to stay in their seats if they couldn't, in the least, find common ground.

"Enough talk about not talking," Cyril quipped, a hint of amusement in his voice. "We've all heard enough as to what we want to do, I'd think. Jedi from across the galaxy have come to this conclave," he gestured toward [member="Matthias Draay"] and [member="Zator Carr"], two whom he had asked personally to attend. Both were friends, both respected, and more of their kind would come once things were solidified. "We have masters, students, knights and people who have suffered more in five years than others will in a lifetime. There is little end to the wisdom gathered here."

His gaze fell upon, [member="Tugoro Taidarious"]. "My friend, our duty has, and always will, fall to the Republic. We should not shut ourselves away from our lost kin, but we understand that peace cannot last without the democratic process to maintain it. It is why we have a council rather than one to rule us all. We model ourselves after the Republic, and they us. We are reflections of one another; we are their guardians and they are our keepers."

A warm smile touched his patrician features. "The Jedi are keepers of the peace, but to keep that peace we must stand strong. A Jedi is a warrior pacifist. We strive to bring peace in all things, but we will never let the forces of chaos and discord run rampant as they have for so very long. We need able bodied warriors like [member="Zator Carr"], [member="Vorian Adasca"], and this masked man, honored friend," he gestured toward [member="Senji Selah"], " - to liberate the lost. They are our guardians."

"We need men and women of character to keep the order from losing sight of itself. To maintain our spirit, our ethics, our code. Jedi to tell keep the guardians in check when they've gone too far -- to keep the Order in good standing with our cousins and other political entities." At this, he gestured to [member="Veiere Arenais"], [member="Dune Rhur"], [member="Tugoro Taidarious"] and [member="Cath Lorr"], the former for obvious reasons, the latter for, as he knew it, her political experience. "Take the good lady for example. As I've heard it, she gave up her position and humbled herself to join our order. Does this padawan not exemplify what we should all strive to be?"

A pause.

"And even then some of us must dirty our hands to do our dirty. The scant few of us who understand the nature of the dark side and combat it at every turn. Be they shadows, investigators, or something else entirely, we are the ones who solve the problem before it begins. The ones whose deeds can never be known." He nodded toward [member="Matthias Draay"], [member="Saran Drast"], and [member="Sochi Ru"] respectively.

"We are comprised of all kinds of Jedi, and we've all come here rather than the other orders. We all know our duty -- our calling." His lips pressed into a thin line, his visage one of stone. "The council will be made here, now. I nominate Veiere to sit upon it." He smiled at the former exile. "As for myself, I've taken Master Kian Karr's position as the master of shadows, and if the council will have me, I would offer myself as the shadows' voice. Furthermore, I offer my flagship, the Chimaera, as a place for our padawans to train in peace and a mobile archives to contain our most dangerous artifacts in the days to come."

A heavy sigh fell from his lips.

"Do not be afraid to offer yourself. Sitting upon the council is a burden, not a gift. You will not be seen as arrogant for wishing to have a hand in rebuilding the order."

And yet that sounds so very wrong considering what I've just offered of myself doesn't it?

A hint of anxiety passed through Cyril. He had spent so much time deeply entrenched within the Sith that he often cut straight to the point of matters. He worried he sounded arrogant in his own right, or that his words might have been an unwelcome thing. Even still, he did not hold his voice.

"Our code should pertain to what we wish to be. We are guardians of the Republic and the galaxy at large. When the war ends, our padawans will need to learn peace. It must embody what we strive to become and what we wish to safeguard."

He looked around the room. "Any suggestions?"

Ylva Alfrún

"Wolf Who Possess Hidden Knowledge"
Master Ylva Alfrún rested her wrinkled hands upon the armchair where she sat, away from the center of the discussion, nearly at its sidelines. Through the white noise of the conversation's many tides, she discerned a common theme that most of the contributors shared. Solidarity, peace, etc. These were typical desires expressed by the Jedi she had encountered in her lifetime, almost expected to rear their head during such discourse. The Council, as it stood, was lacking in membership, and the Jedi Knights focused more so on fighting along the ever-changing borders of the Republic's territories than the pursuance of knowledge these days. Yet this was not necessarily an ill omen. Their Jedi were strong, wise, and capable; Ylva had faith in them. With the Republic so deeply entrenched in war due to the enemies they bore from all regions of the Galaxy, fighting had become a necessity for their Jedi Knights. Leadership was important; direction more so. The former the Order lacked, yet the latter it boasted in spades. The Jedi of the Republic knew what needed to be done, and they were doing it. Ylva had waited until the conversation had calmed before speaking herself. What she intended to say she hoped was considered objectively.

Her voice, while tense and shaky with her years, remained strong as durasteel. "The Jedi of this Republic must serve this Republic, and the people that comprise its very soul." Ylva turned her gaze on each of the Conclave's most prominent voices in turn. "The Republic has enemies to fight, and we hold these enemies in common with them, for they are adversaries to peace. Our Knights must remain unfettered in their participation in these conflicts, and despite being a academic myself, I recognize the value of a blade. Let the scholars among us read; let the philosophers among us think. But let our soldiers fight. This I cannot make more abundantly clear: We will not have an Order, nor a Republic, to defend unless this evil threat can be faced and defeated." Ylva clenched her hands and relaxed them, her joints were stiff and sore from sitting still for so long. Her sentiments clearly echoed those of Master Grayson's, who had cautioned against distancing the Order from the Republic it served.
She looked now to the Jedi Knight Arenais with steel grey eyes.
"Fill the Council with Knights, Masters, nuts and bolts, whatever you can spare; it will not change my mandate as an educator," she stated plainly. "As Master of the Academy, I will continue to train all those Force Sensitives who come to us seeking knowledge, regardless of whether or not they intend to pledge themselves as Jedi once their education is complete. This was the intended goal of the Academy, and I will see it through, Council or no. The Academy is our greatest link to the Republic, as we engage our students in all aspects of not only the Force, but general education so as to ensure they leave our influence well rounded and informed citizens of the Republic, not solely the Jedi Order. Those who arrive with the intent to become Jedi are encouraged to do so; those who do not will not be denied an education. These students become not only the Republic's fighting Knights, but its librarians, politicians, military leaders, innovators, and physicians. Our society cannot survive as long as we withhold knowledge from those we do not feel deserving of it. This is not for us to decide, and it is this practice that leads to the abuse of knowledge, not mere exposure to it."
Ylva paused momentarily to allow her words to be considered before she continued, her tone betraying her resolve. "Give us a Council that can provide guidance, please. Give us a Council that can serve as a rock in the storm, lending us strength and wisdom. But do not give us a Council that will seek to limit the boundaries of our learning and the scope of our thought, or erect barriers against our influence in the world. We have come this far with limited intervention, and have long since proven our veracity as a collective. We must continue to have faith in our Jedi; they have yet to fail us thus far."

Dune absently tapped his finger on the table. It was time for action. His gaze swept around the table.

"Keep in mind the gravity of the situation, that the Order's future will rest upon you, if you volunteer."

He also added something important.

"Our experienced Masters should have priority over our Knights and Padawans. Our Masters have been given that honour due to their years as a Jedi. I want nominate [member="Sochi Ru"], [member="Ylva Alfrún"], [member="Cyril Grayson"] and @Sheila. If you will have me, I will also volunteer my own service."

"Furthermore, keep in mind the recent past. Things fell apart because of infighting and politicking. We let personal agendas get in the way of the greater good. Our nominations shouldn't be based upon our good feelings towards beings, but rather their capabilities."

After his entrance to the chambers only one of the individuals had the nerve and audacity to chastise Zator for his shouting in the chamber. It was entertaining that such a small being had the nerve to do such a thing. Having to remind himself that he was among allies Zator relaxed and centered himself. It spoke volumes about the man to have spoken against Zator when none other had. Tugoro had earned the warriors respect. With a slight incline of his head and a smirk Zator focused back on the others in the meeting. It turns out his words had meant nothing as the first thing everyone did was go back to their petty squabbling at least that’s what it looked like to him.

Eyes glancing over all the other gathered jedi Zator wondered if he had gone amok by deciding to join with them. Why so much trouble over a case of who to place on the council? Were the jedi now corrupt vying for positions of power similar to the Sith? Have all the battles against the Sith finally taken the toll on the jedi. One that couldn’t be fixed? It was a curious position to be in especially for the jedi. The only ones that seemed to make any sense to the Tof was the Bith, Togruta, and Cyril. They had all taken action and were willing to see the changes done that needed to be.

“I agree with the Bith’s nominations, except I’d like to add one more.” Nodding his head to [member="Tugoro Taidarious"] ,Zator spoke again. “He has shown to be brave enough to sit on the council. The only one to question my shouting. For that he deserves a chance.”

However, there was one thing that had yet to be settled in Zator’s eyes. “I suggest a tournament to decide the next Battlemaster of the order and Sword of the Jedi. Such a thing should not be decided by voting. It should be decided by the skill that one brings to the table.” There was always a need for a battlemaster to show the premiere lightsaber instructor and the Sword of the Jedi would be the hope for the Jedi and strike fear into their enemies while not a council member it was an important position nonetheless. Zator had no intentions of attaining either title, but he would not have them decided on in any other way than through battle.

[member="Dune Rhur"]'s nominees for the Jedi Council caused a half smile to break through in his expression, nodding with ease of satisfaction as he was not one of the names to be included. His original desire was to avoid a leadership role yet still hope to motivate the beginning turn of the wheel, so to speak, to bring the conclave together so that things could once again fall into place. For some reason the force had pooled itself around Master Rhur during their first meeting upon Deneba, Veiere had not known why and now while he watched and listened to the Bith, he understood that this one along with the others would have a very large part to play in the reform of the Jedi Order of the Republic. "I concur" he spoke up in agreement, saying nothing more on the matter and hoping that as far as the matter of Council was concerned, that would suffice and he could continue his joint ventures to that of the Silver Sanctum, more specifically the Watch of Rhen Var as well as aid [member="Lady Kay"] when and where possible.

[member="Ylva Alfrún"]'s argument was sound in countering his belief that the teachings of the Order should be closely monitored. He knew both sides of the discussion well and could not help but admire her words and listen to them thoroughly. The teaching of those not dedicated and discplined like the Jedi allowed for many risks and the temptation of the Dark Side was plentiful in the galaxy yet there was of course the other side and Veiere wasn't so ignorant as to dismiss it completely; if not for the Jedi who would encourage these people in the right direction that they might not seek their learnings elsewhere and further detriment their path away from the light. To this woman, he did not offer a comment in response but rather lowered his head in a formal bow of respect following her advice and suggestions for the future of the Jedi, both acknowledging and respecting her difference of views; there were likely many in the room who carried different motives and opinions.

[member="Cyril Grayson"] was determined to emphasize Veiere's importance, it seemed, It was both humbling and rather awkward. In reality he had done nothing but put the call out, the rest had gone up for discussion and in that, everyone had thus far contributed. He could not express enough so, the need for his path to be free of the stress that ones position among the council would take. He had seen those of Svivren more often than not caught up in the foundations of the enclave, unable to enjoy the tops and turns that was a Jedi's life on the path travelling from one world to another, experiencing the training of students and witnessing the rise and fall of the many different peoples of the galaxy. Turning to look to the man, he dipped his head in a half bow before letting his words reach Cyril not through vocal speech but rather through the use of telepathy; "There needs be a Council built of the old and of the new, familiarity and experience. To many of these people, I have shown neither yet my reward will be to continue on the path; if it can be avoided, I would not join you on the Council", again he smiled in appreciation though turned away as if to signify that he had little more to contribute to the matter of leadership. The pieces had been set into place and now that things were getting off of the ground, Veiere found a small sense of pride in those he saw gathered around them.

He had said his part and achieved what he hoped would be good for the Jedi of the Republic, the discussion had been well met with the shared desire for movement and for the most part it had all been polite and civil, as was to be expected of those of the Jedi Order. Moving away from the center of the room, Veiere quietly wrapped his loose cloak around himself before turning and seating himself upon the outside looking in, so that he might further listen and learn more of the peers that surrounded him, yet also hoping to take a step back and be able to watch the makings of the Orders future without being pulled into the eye of it all.

Dune had picked up on Veiere's subtle reaction. Leaving him out had been deliberate. It was a test to see what the man truly wanted. It was clear he had the Order's best interests at heart.

"I'd also like to consider Veiere as a member of the Council. It isn't unheard of in Jedi history for a Knight to sit as a member. Both Ki-Adi-Mundi and Anakin Skywalker were Knights when they were first given positions."

Knowing one's history was most useful.

"Tugoro certainly has been a member of our Order for a significant period of time."

He looked at his fellow Jedi around the room. His black and lidless eyes met each of their's in turn. The expressions varied from the intensity of Zator Carr to the serene composure of Ylva Alrun to the slightly bemused and world-weary Veiere Arenais.

Disney's Princess
Jay Shaun of Denon sat in the Jedi gallery listening to the conclave speak and discuss new focus for the Republic's Jedi Knights. However, the Time Traveler of Meridian was not here to participate, or to cast votes, or to make fancy speeches about idealistic traditional fancies. Nah. He was here to just, sit and listen. Applaud when necessary I suppose. Though, his real interest in attending rested mostly with the newcomer to the infamous galactic politics of such-an-such Jedi. Veiere Arenais. With his profound and youthful eagerness to reinstate yet another 'Jedi Order'. Because tradition maybe? Meh. Who knows. So his eyes and ears followed the magic male whenever he choose to speak up. Which, was surprisingly not very often. Huh. Interesting...

"Mm."

He rested his chin in his palm and checked his phone again. Yep. The rest of the gang would be expecting an update on the events of this meeting before the day was done. He had dozens of other Jedi on his contacts lists for today. Bah. All of them just waiting and wandering for the latest news and the best juicy gossip from the conclave's eventual conclusion. Which... Hopefully was soon. He had movie tickets for later that evening with Triss and really didn't want to miss it.

Shaun looked up again and noted the progress. Meh. Completely content to be nothing more than just another invisible face amongst a whole crowd of democratically aligned space wizards.

Probably.

Ylva Alfrún

"Wolf Who Possess Hidden Knowledge"
Ylva furrowed her brow, having grown slightly agitated throughout the course of the discussion. She understood the precarious position the Republic rested in, and had for a while, but Master Rhur had expressed a desire for a more relaxing standard in terms of Council leadership. Knights on the Council...Ylva thought critically. That was the old woman in her speaking. The nurse, educator, engineer, and physicist in her said instead, Positions of such responsibility cannot be left to anyone who is judged merely on a quantitative basis. Reluctantly, Ylva sighed, silently yielding the point to herself. Leaning forward she waited as Master Rhur concluded his address, then claimed the floor for herself with a clearing of her throat, then looked to Master Rhur and the human Knight Veiere. "I do not know this human," she revealed plainly. "This would not matter if it were only me he was not acquainted with, but this man is essentially unknown to our Order, to any of us." The old woman glanced around the room, as if to ensure everyone were paying attention. It was a habit of hers; a good one in her mind, oft times an annoyance in the minds of others. Her tone, however, softened. "Yet after hearing him speak, I am interested to see what he has to offer. His history may not rest with us in particular, but he is not unknown to the Force, and I do understand our need. I would support his service in an advisory capacity, helping coordinate the activities of our Jedi in one or more areas, with consideration for a Council seat at a later time." She looked next to the green-skinned Tof, Jedi Knight Zator Carr, and pointed at him with a wrinkled finger. Her words cracked like a whip as they were borne by a sharp tone. "Your young friend, Tuguro, on the other hand, I do know. The boy has a reputation for sloth, and is constantly in need of reference as he cannot seem to remember his own name on a given day. He is lazy and stupid; I will not tolerate his presence on our Council." Ylva preempted the Tof's retort with a glare, then yielded the floor.

Saran sat quietly, listening. She wasn't sure that she had any right to speak. But she wasn't liking what she was seeing. The straight up challenge from the lumbering Tof, as well as his rather... loud entrance left a sour taste in her mouth. She didn't like the idea of a contest for the title of Sword. To her, the rank was something that should be handed out for an act of valor, not a tournament of arms. She almost stood to speak as Dune recommended Verene to sit on the council. Quietly, she leaned back into her seat. Grayson had called her a Shadow. Part of her liked the idea.

As she listened to Ylva speak, she sighed, a quiet sound that wouldn't reach the ears of most members of the room. As she finished her insult to the Tof, the knight stood up. She doubted too many noticed it. Taking a deep breath, she spoke for the first time since entering the room.

"Not many of you know me. I've spent the last six years wandering the galaxy, learning what I can. So realize that my perspective may not be the most Jedi-like or the most understanding of the Order's current politics. But I don't believe that the title of Sword of the Jedi is something to simply be handed out in a tournament of arms. It is a title of honor, and is a point to be striven for, not something handed out simply to the winner of a handful of duels." She turned her head to point directly at the larger man, even though she didn't have eyes to meet his. "A title of honor should be handed out when something has been done to earn it. Anything else disgraces the former Jedi who held the title."

With that, she turned to the old woman who had just spoken. "Miss Headmaster, forgive me, but what right do you have to insult your fellows in such a way? It would be better to tell him this in private, to help him be better, rather than to degrade him in front of his peers. If this is the way you treat others, espically your students, than I wish nothing to do with your enclave. And I will not acknowledge any council that someone with your temperament sits on." Her shoulders sagged, and she turned to the others in the room. "I will let those of you worthy for seats on this council to decide who sits. I will be here to serve."

Voices could be heard in the room ahead. This had to be it? With a strong stout walk he waddled into the room his cloak covering most of his massive green figure, Even his own head was somewhat covered by his hood. The cloaked figure snorted abruptly and sniffed the air briefly for his own. The longer he remained in the room the quicker the area began to fill with his vile body odor. Raising a arm the Gamorrean removed his hood with a single plump finger with a tusky smirk. He had no clue what was going on and was slowly getting lost in translations, so to help ease his mind Borris sat down and began to meditate midst verbal chaos.

He would say something himself by he needed to wait for his protocol droid to arrive...

" Hmmm."
