If read correctly, it was near the hospital, same with AA guns.

Yeah, I believe so.

One can't just magically jump past them, up maybe 30 stories without being shot at. ^_~ but then again, the Force is mysterious.

I totes agree with you story-wise, but sadly the reality of it in a role-play writing environment won't be that simple.

What do we do to combat big weapons? generally? make bigger ones.

Yes, we have smart people. Yes we could combat it. But, when i have a look at the disagreements that prop up on this board, we tend to fight over the stupidest and smallest of things. Like, i dunno, anti infantry guns on a hospital roof? :p

Will they be a fun aspect? Absolutely. Can all members be trusted all the time not to lose their heads when handling something like this? No.

As it stands, I could pick apart the Sith fleet, murder their super weapon, and then proceed to rip apart their fleet. I'd take heavy casualties as I maneuver and focus on the superweapon, but it wouldn't leave the thread alive. I've told people before... It's not what you have, it's how you use it. I could butcher a Super Star Destroyer with frigates and cruisers if I had to.

Administrators will have to vote on whether it is a superweapon or not first.

1. How this works: You build a Death Star. FJ passes it. Admin passes it. Good to go!

2. You use it IC, because why not?

3. You get reported for it, with the reporter claiming it's a superweapon.

4. Admins are alerted, vote thread goes up in the Admin forum. We vote on whether it's a superweapon or not.

5. Majority agrees it's a superweapon.

6. Rules regarding superweapons now apply to the Death Star you built.

I had simply been going off of the massive list of canon superweapons on the Wiki page linked under the 'banned technology' section.

Surely a FJ can identify what is and isn't a superweapon and pass it to admin to look at?
The Factory works with only one Admin as secondary approval. My method will make all Administrators aware and will take into account all of the Administrator's judgements/votes.

Why not avoid the report and just take it there and then to admin vote and classify it as a super weapon?
It's an option, but the Factory doesn't currently account for all possible superweapons unless we force it to, which will increase demand just by being there as an option. (Okay, I can build Armor, weapons... or SUPERWEAPONS? Starships, Space Stations, or... SUPERWEAPONS?!) I don't wish to encourage superweapon creation, only allow it.

This discussion/poll alone was a last ditch effort and will undoubtedly increase interest in building one.

For the moment, I wish to keep the creation and/or classification of superweapons as a private vote among the Admins.

Ok so let me re run this just to make sure I've got it.

Joe Bloggs makes a piece of tech, doesn't label it superweapon but it clearly is. FJ goes through stamps it, Admin second stamps. Joe Bloggs then goes and uses it on Miss Daisy. Miss Daisy then throws all the toys out her pram, demands an edit via PM (because thats standard practice no?) Doesn't get an edit so she slams the report button. Admin get a headache, sit around and talk about whether it is or isn't, vote that it is. Joe Bloggs has to edit his post, to match parameters now set of his tech over to admins.

Seems like a lot of work when alternatively:

Joe Bloggs makes a peice of Tech, FJ stamps it, Admin comes along to second stamp, see's that its clearly a superweapon. Places tech under review, advises Joe Bloggs it come under super weapon and is being put to vote. Admins vote, parameters are set. Joe bloggs rps with it without causing upset.

I'm not saying, make a whole new template, i'm just saying you can catch it before its reported.

As some of the empires already possess the means to make Super Weapons, I say that they should be allowed. However I should also say that it should take them time to discover certain super weapons so they don't become uberly super powerful. Such as the Death Star.

You're assuming a FJ would let a superweapon quality entry pass by. It's possible, but I'd declare it improbable. But yes, if the creator is attempting to get it to slip by, and it gets reported - more work will be put in to judge and then inform the creator of the Admin's decision.

The preferred alternative is informing an Administrator prior to building the superweapon, as the One Sith did recently, so that we can make all the Admins aware and make sure that a majority of our demands are met before a vote is held, ensuring that the tech/starship/etc stands the best chance of being accepted.

The method and effectiveness thereof will also be a non-issue if this vote continues the way it's going. I'll leave it up for a week, but for now I'm going to step away from the discussion.

So you want to let people build superweapons, but only the people that Admins say 'can' build one?

That.... No. That's not ok. The Factory exists to ensure that all creations are fair and balanced. Either superweapons are NOT fair and balanced and therefore all superweapons are denied at Factory level, or superweapons 'are' fair and balanced and need to be controlled at the factory level (and nerfed like everything else until it is 'fair and balanced'). Staff/Admins shouldn't be able to pick and choose who can and who can not have access to technology.

Either everyone gets superweapons or no one gets superweapons.

Superweapons have their place - in events and special places where they are strictly controlled and no open to powergaming invasion fantasies.

They have no place in competitive RPing, ie invasions and skirmishes, because the disruption they cause far outweighs the benefits.

I don't have time to write a thesis on everything wrong with them, so I'll just say firmly that outside of events and campaigns, no superweapons.
