  • The Commonwealth Corps of Engineers is run by the Board of Directors, often referred to as the Board. A group of professionals appointed as Director of their respective craft/specialty. Such as, Director of Mechanical Engineering, Director of Electrical Engineering, and Director of Thermal Engineering, etc, etc. Members of the board are appointed by a joint commission of military officers, and civilian experts, the latter typically from within the corps themselves. At any given time, members of the board can be removed by either the Board itself, a vote of no-confidence from the corps’ membership or in extreme cases by the High Commissioner. The board also seats engineering professionals from the military that are put up for nomination by their respective branches prior to their appointment.
  • Like their military counterparts, CCOE adopted a rating system in order to determine education and training levels necessary for various vocations, and advancement within those vocations. Qualifications, and years in service, instill and maintain discipline, and professionalism. CCOE members are required to display their rating on the right shoulder of their work uniform.
  • Ranks within CCOE are intended to be ‘generic’ thus it is not uncommon to find a ‘Leading Electrical Workman,’ ‘Leading Materials Workman,’ or ‘Welder Journeyman.’ The Corps enlisted have a few paths, the Workman to Technician path are for those who are often working on site, hands-on learning their craft from a mentor that they’re paired off with from their early apprenticeship days. There is then the clerk to administrator path, their work involves more ‘office’ or ‘desk’ work from reading and analyzing blueprints, to calculating scrap, and tracking data. There is a third path, the specialist path which is authorized after achieving Journeyman. Specialists are individuals who are dedicated to their craft and as one might correctly assume, specialize in that particular field. This path will grant 'rated officer status', thus above the enlisted but still subordinate to officers (O1 and above), while still maintaining practice in that trade. Example, an electrician may elect to become a specialist and work their way to Master Specialist. Many who choose this path will become instructors at various trade schools throughout the Commonwealth. Many clerks, upon reaching administrator typically choose to move to commissioned status through an engineering school and start as 1st class junior engineers.
  • Due to the number of specialties, the highest rank any enlisted can achieve is either Master Technician or Master Specialist. These specialties will sit in a committee, exchange information, bring up concerns, and work with their Chief Master Technician to ensure that client needs as well as member needs are being met. Similarly, for officers within the Corps of Engineers the highest they may obtain is Principal Director. They too will form various committees and those committees will perform a similar function.
  • Note that ‘officers’ within the CCOE are not always referred to by their rank, they are typically referred to by their job/vocation title. The ranks and ratings are internal and assist with logistics, personnel resources, and administrative duties.
  • As the CCOE has operations throughout the Commonwealth there is a Director General of the Corps, this position is decided by the Secretariat. The Board will make their recommendations on candidates they feel are best for the job but ultimately the decision is made by the Secretariat as a whole. Unless there is an objection, or the Secretariat find themselves deadlocked (which can happen if a member of the Secretariat abstains). In these scenarios the High Queen has the final say.
  • Membership: [IC] Becoming a part of the esteemed Commonwealth Corps of Engineers (CCOE) is a distinguished achievement, reserved for those who exhibit exceptional skills and dedication in the field of engineering. Prospective members can gain entry into the CCOE through one of three distinct pathways, each designed to ensure that only the most qualified and committed individuals are welcomed into the organization:

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Formation and Growth (840s - 860s ABY)

In the years following the rise of the First Order, the galaxy found itself in the grip of a powerful militaristic regime. Within this Order, a specialized group emerged, known as the First Order Corps of Imperial Engineers. Originally formed in the late 840s ABY, this elite engineering force quickly gained prominence due to their exceptional skills and innovative prowess. Under the banner of the First Order, they spearheaded ambitious projects, constructing underwater cities, subterranean facilities, and sprawling urban centers on Dosuun.

Amidst the growing might of the First Order, the Corps of Imperial Engineers played a vital role in building Dosuun's critical infrastructure. From the design of state-of-the-art starships to the creation of naval facilities, their expertise shaped the technological backbone of the First Order's military might. Collaborating closely with esteemed Admirals, they contributed significantly to the construction of shipyards and advanced naval facilities, enabling the First Order's dominance in space.

Evolution and Transition (860s - 900 ABY)

However, the tides of fate were destined to change. As the galaxy underwent profound shifts, the First Order began to wane, making room for a new era to emerge. With the decline of the First Order, Dosuun and its surrounding systems faced the challenge of rebuilding and reinventing themselves.

In this transformative period, the Corps of Imperial Engineers underwent a profound evolution. Embracing the spirit of renewal and progress that defined the Dosuunian Commonwealth, the organization rebranded itself as the Commonwealth Corps of Engineers (CCOE). This transition marked not just a change in name, but a shift in purpose. No longer bound to the militaristic ambitions of the First Order, the CCOE became the vanguard of innovation, dedicated to the betterment of the Dosuunian Commonwealth and its member worlds.

Modern Era (900 ABY - Present)

In the modern era of 900 ABY, the Commonwealth Corps of Engineers works to continue technological advancement and engineering excellence. Guided by the principles of innovation, collaboration, and service to the Commonwealth, the CCOE plays a pivotal role in building and maintaining the infrastructure that sustains the Commonwealth’s way of life. From constructing magnificent starships to designing eco-friendly urban centers, the engineers of the CCOE continue to shape the destiny of Dosuun and its member worlds.

As a testament to their resilience and adaptability, the Commonwealth Corps of Engineers mirrors the journey of the Dosuunian Commonwealth itself — rising from the ashes of the First Order, they have become pioneers of progress, embodying the spirit of the Commonwealth and ensuring a prosperous future for all its inhabitants.
