"Just opportunity to prepare for things I hadn't considered," Jasper assured. "Loss in the present is victory in the future as long as you learn."

Saram beat down and began gathering up her weapons from the relatively unceremonious pile that she had left them in, carefully ensuring that each weapon was stowed in its correct place before she addressed what Jasper said, "There's some truth to that Jetii mysticism." She was not one to normally find any merit to the philosophies of either Jetii or Dar'jetii, but this to her made some sense. "Learning from your errors is the only way to keep breathing, though you still need to be able to walk away from that loss though," she countered.

If you could take the energy absorption of Ultrachrome and mixed it with a more resilient metal like Song Steel, perhaps you could make something that has a far higher energy capacity when it tempers. Might be good for replicating one of your crushgaunts-"

"Ultrachrome and Songsteel might do the trick," she agreed with a nod. "Don't know for sure though, I'm no gota-engineer myself," she admitted, stumbling over the word for engineer in Basic. "Not sure if it'd help with the crush force, but it sure as haran help you catch one like a crushgaunt I imagine," she surmised with a half shrug that didn't translate well through armor.

"Ah, sorry. Slipped into rambling again."

Saram waved him off. "No need to apologize," she added. "I grew up with two brothers who frequently talked about things I barely understood when I was around," she explained, recalling all the times she had been around both Nyles and Shuklaar when they were talking about topics she had only a passing understanding of. She didn't pry about the Jedi Master's family either, if he wanted to talk about it, he'd probably volunteer that information.

"No need to apologize," she added. "I grew up with two brothers who frequently talked about things I barely understood when I was around,"

"One's Shuklaar, yeah?" Jasper asked. "Smart guy. Can't say that surprises me."

He had the pleasure of meeting the man when the Tingle Arm got rolling. That felt like forever ago now, even though realistically it wasn't that far back.

"Well, thanks for the match," he continued. "And, guess cause I didn't get the chance to say this at any other point in time, thanks for sticking with my boy and makin' sure he got through everything in one piece. I'm sorry that in all of that you probably got to see the worst of what the Jedi Order has to offer... I wasn't pleased about it either. All that in mind, you went above and beyond. You remind me of folks that used to be around in the NJO before we slipped into a death spiral."

Jasper let out an exhale. He did hate how it went down. But that's what happened when you held on too tightly. You smothered yourself. That was why Jasper left the Jedi Council when he had the chance. He saw the writing on the wall, and he knew what had to be done to be a good Jedi.

Leave all that behind.

"Considering all that went down, I'm a father first," Jasper concluded. "In my book that means I owe you a drink as repayment. That something folks of your creed can get behind?"

Valor watched him snake his lower tail toward him and hopped to his right. "You're only as good as your basics… you need a strong foundation before you can start to branch out," he mused aloud, trying to stay clear of the tail.

He was an Echani, one who had studied often with his father, learning to read the motion of a body and use his periphery to keep track of what was not immediately apparent.

"You should focus on your saber form, lest I singe your tail,"
Valor warned, flourishing the blade downward in a sharp little bop aimed toward the offending tail-tip.

"One's Shuklaar, yeah?" Jasper asked. "Smart guy. Can't say that surprises me."

"Yeah...our families were close, but he's not my....brother by birth, we grew up together," she said, pausing to find the wright phrase in basic. "The other one's the one who led the naval detachment at Coruscant when whatever shabla version of the Empire we're on showed up with their buried starship trick," she added less than a moment later. She wasn't sure if Nyles would appreciate being introduced like that, but he wasn't here so she could are less.

"Well, thanks for the match,"

"Anytime," she said, with a grateful nod. "How often do I get to spar Jedi?" she asked, only haff-rhetorically. She'd prepared all her life to fight force users, and she had fought a fair few in her time, not like this though. There was a difference in fighting and sparring after all.

"What the shab kind of..." she paused as she tried to remember the word Braze used as well as the basic translation for the Mando'a word she was thinking of, taking another moment to quickly see if they were the same. "...auntie would I be if I didn't try to help?"

"Considering all that went down, I'm a father first," Jasper concluded. "In my book that means I owe you a drink as repayment. That something folks of your creed can get behind?"

"They were being di- idiots, can you imagine if no one helped him?" she asked, perishing what her mind came up with the moment it tried to pop into her mind. But what he said next took her aback for a moment. "Sure," she said as she recovered from the initial shock. A Jetii was offering to buy her a drink for taking her care of his ad'ika? Maybe she should have recorded this moment for posterity."I mean, most Mandalorians are basically alcoholics and let's be honest, that gene didn't miss me. A drink sounds like a great idea."

Novac tail's quickly did a little u-turn to not be zaped.

"Yea I've been meaning to, though its a tad hard with my biology lightsabers, most likely gonna mix a few forms together." he said as he turned the bottom half of the saber for two, two handed sabers. Attempting to strike at both valors chest and feet. "But hey, least I got options yea know," he said a bit jokingly.

It had been a bit difficult to find a form that really felt right to him. Who knows, maybe some day he'll find one, or more, that he feels good with.

"Hard to multitask and keep track of so many limbs, I imagine…"
he mused aloud, breath slipping out in a faint, amused huff as he hopped back from the lower strike.

His heel scraped against the training floor, robe hem snapping around his calves as he lifted his blade to meet the higher attack. The motion haddn't been perfect; there was a narrow delay in it, a small opening left near his ribs, either by mistake or surreptitious invitation.

Rather than keep yielding ground, he shifted his weight forward and turned his defense into a reply. His blade slid out in a quick, probing thrust toward his opponent's centerline, not committed enough to overextend, but sharp enough to ask a question.

Would Novac retreat? Bind the blade? Punish the gap? Valor watched closely, more interested in the answer than the strike itself.
