OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: So that when I use them in RPs for flavour and people go 'Are you serious' I can link them here, and they can see that yes, yes I am.
  • Role: To formalize one of the unique ways in which Clan Canadus serves, both as mounted shock troops, and as scouts
  • Links: Ge'tal Canadus (at time of writing only PC Canadus character)
XkeQoS.png
GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Unit Name: Canadus Cavalry aka The Lads, eh?
  • Affiliation: Clan Canadus, Clan Americus, Mandalorian Protectors, CIS (in roughly that order)
  • Classification: Cavalry
  • Equipment: The sole guaranteed piece of equipment is of course the Caraboose, specially raised and trained for battle. Other gear is left up to the individual rider and their mission. If being used as shock troops, it can be assumed that both caraboose and rider will be have duraplast armor. PC units may sub stronger personal armor. Caraboose hooves are often reinforced with heavier metals to cause greater damage when kicking, antlers are likewise reinforced and may be bladed or serrated, though this is not suggested for new riders as an incautious toss of the head could end in serious injury for the rider. Most of Clan Canadus carry both blasters and slugthrowers, they also have a tendency to misuse sports equipment as weaponry, with great effect.

COMBAT INFORMATION
  • Availability: Uncommon - Clan Canadus is not particularly large, numbering only around two hundred individuals at its height. Of these, perhaps a quarter, or at most fifty would be part of the cavalry
  • Deployment: Minor - The Canadus Cavalry is deployed in one of two ways, either in groups of three when they are scouting or acting as runners, or en masse, although again, en masse isn't really all that many

Strengths & Weaknesses
  • Terrifying - No one wants to see an angry caraboose let alone many angry caraboose thundering down on them. Oh they're hilarious at a distance, less so when you're being trampled by them.
  • Fast - Wild caraboose can run at about 35 miles an hour on average. The Canadus caraboose are slightly faster. Now, a sprinter can outrun a caraboose, this is true, the terrifying thing about caraboose is how long they can keep it up
  • Endurance - Even when armoured and bearing a rider, these caraboose have several hours of heavy fighting in them until they start to tire
  • Loyal - Every caraboose is hand picked and raised by its future rider. They will stay with and fight for a downed rider unto death, braving far more than their wild counterparts would.

  • Leggy - While great for running, even when armoured if a carabooses legs get tied up, hit in the right way, or subjected to a strong enough concussive blast and they should break, that caraboose is basically out of the picture, as is its rider since no Canadus would abandon their mount.
  • Still an Animal - Sonic attacks, acid, respiratory hazards, overwhelming force fear.. all these things that would not affect a vehicle, affect the mounts of the Canadus Cavalry
  • Bonded - The men and women of the Canadus Cavalry are extremely tightly bonded to their mounts, and will not abandon one if wounded, the force sensitives can be unbalanced by the loss of their bonded mounts and even the non-force sensitives are likely to be upset enough to make bad decisions. On top of this, while if they were alone they might dare a suicide run, without very good cause they will not do so with their mounts.

Description:

Clan Canadus has a long history of force powers, this being the primary impetus for their departure from the (as of writing) current Mandalorian Empire. Although they can be just as war-like as any Mandalorian, those of Clan Canadus nevertheless found themselves focusing on both animal bond and healing. One of the animals that frequented the Clans historical home was the caraboose having been imported by some other clan in the past for lord knows what reasons. Clan Canadus being what it is, eventually, likely after much alcohol was consumed, somebody said 'Why don't we ride that there Caraboose eh?' someone else followed this up with a bet and the rest is, as they say, history.

A history that started with a lot of broken bones and bruises, which is one of the reasons they specialize in healing. Over the generations, their particular strain of caraboose have grown larger and slightly more easily domesticated, though the first ride is always something of a challenge.

Now if you're going to ride a caraboose, once it starts tolerating and stops trying to kill you, it might as well be useful. The first use of these strange mounts was as message runners and scouts, which they are still used for, only in the last generation or so have they been armored and used directly on the battlefield en masse.

Good lord, it begins. This is great. Need a few things sorted before I can stamp this though.

Affiliation: Clan Canadus, Clan Americus, Mandalorian Protectors, CIS (in roughly that order)
Please hyperlink the affiliations that have either units, minor factions, major factions or organization subs. Definitely the CIS.

So, Chaos has issues with cross-over from real life and I couldn't actually find a moose wikia page as precedent. But I did find these guys that are apparently basically mooses. If you switch the moose out for these guys and hyperlink to them once, I will stamp this.
