- Naturally Tough: Given the abundance of the material on Cathar, City-Tree Wood acts as a perfect material for the cat-like species to work with, as a building material and as natural armor.
- Feels like Home: To a Cathar, their city-tree is like their neighborhood. A part of it being worn allows the cathar to feel at home, wearing their past literally on their sleeve. While sentimental value doesn't do much in combat, it is good for mental health.
- Fiber is good for you: Given the city-trees grow up to the size of small mountains, it's no wonder that the wood that makes them up is tough to the point of absurdity. While a blaster or a lightsaber might be able to burn through it, it won't be able to without repeated attacks, and shooting through it with a slugthrower is practically a fool's errand.
- Screwy on Sensors: Given how dense the material is, the wood tends to block most sensors from penetrating, making for a surprisingly good stealth material.
- Surprisingly Light: The wood, while incredibly dense in fiber, weighs no more than a couple pounds per log.
- Strong with the Force: While the wood itself isn't force imbued naturally, the City-Wood is known for it's ease of connecting with through the Force, and allowing it to be imbued with energy from both the dark, and the light.
- Tough to Work: With how resistant the wood is to damage, it's no wonder forming it into shape is a task in and of itself.
- Oh god I'm on fire!: When wood burns, so do you.
- Wood Rots: If you don't take care of it, you'll have a pretty useless material...
Long before the days of Hyperspace Travel, the planet Cathar was creating life that would channel the Living Force. City-Trees were the example of such, the trees growing to the size of small mountains and creating unique ecosystems within their branches. With the evolution of the Cathar species, the felinoids would find the wood of their home-trees would be quite a useful material to use as both a building material and as armor. It's natural density allows for it to be the perfect defense against the natural predators of the Cathar.
