CHARACTER CREATION GUIDE

OVERVIEW

While the NIO does on its outward appearance seem to be the typical Galactic Imperial faction, many nuances unique to the faction itself and its depiction on Chaos have created many questions as to how characters best fit into the faction. The purpose of this guide is to allow for a greater breath of context to work with for those both new to the site or new to the faction without knowledge of its origins or inner workings to seamlessly jump in and begin to immerse a character in the narrative.

ROLES TO PLAY

MILITARY | STORMTROOPER CORPS
"I call upon you, my loyal stormtroopers, to join with me and take back our Empire which you have so long and faithfully served."
- Roan Fel

The tip of the spear and foremost offensive fighting force of the New Imperial Order. Absolutely legendary and iconic in its traditions and aesthetic. The Stormtrooper Corps are a group of highly trained soldiers who have proven their worth in battle against some of the most fearsome foes, taking part as the main component of victory in famed battles such as Harnaidan, Dubrillion and the siege of Bastion.

The atmosphere is gritty yet enduring with a fixation on the human struggle through combat as they overcome for their comrades at their side, besting greater odds and variable threats to see the Iron Sun eclipse all else.

MILITARY | IMPERIAL ARMY

"Only when the Imperial Army has disembarked does the war truly begin."
- Cassio Tagge

While the Stormtroopers garner the glory by acting as the sword in hand to the New Imperial Order, the army is the shield. The forces of the Imperial Army are lesser equipped and trained than their Stormtrooper counterparts but still possess the same fighting spirit and comradery.

Often starting on the backfoot of defensive engagements the goal of the Imperial Army is always to scale the odds and defeat the enemy, employing the titanic armored forces at the disposal of the Order to make their might known on the field of battle. While rarer in offensive engagements, the Imperial Army is deployed to nearly every domestic military installation to defend the True Empire from its foes within and without its borders.

MILITARY | COMPFORCE

"They said I'd never make it. But I made it through where others never came back. I'm ready for anything those Rebels can throw at me."
- COMPFORCE Trooper

There is no force within the Order more devout in its dedication than the COMPFORCE. The military arm of COMPNOR, the COMPFORCE are a varied and highly trained military force of volunteer fighters who fight for the Empire and the New Order before all else.

Zealous and ferocious in combat, the COMPFORCE is the desperate measure, the neccessary evil to see the will of the Empire done, stopping at nothing to accomplish their mission and fighting every engagement to the bitter end, while they might be a radical and abrasive group, there is no doubting their outright lethality and effectiveness on the field of battle though they're most often seen employed in counter-insurgency operations across the Order and beyond.

MILITARY | SPECIAL FORCES

"It's the trooper you don't see that will get you."
- Cassian Andor

Where the others can not accomplish the task, the special forces groups of the New Imperial Order are dispatched to act as the cloak and dagger, the scalpel. Deployed on missions of upmost danger, secrecy and importance the special forces groups of the New Imperial Order are some of the most lethal on the Galactic stage, taking the form of Storm Commandos, Nova Troopers, Death Troopers and Dark Troopers to name a few, the varied and specialized elite fighting forces of the Order are a multi-pronged will of reckoning to those who dare oppose the Order be they clandestine or brazen in their defiance.

MILITARY | ARMADA

'Service, Fealty, Fidelity'
- Motto of the Galactic Imperial Navy

The Imperial Armada has been a long established force to be reckoned with. Well known and widely feared on the Galactic stage, the New Imperial Armada is one of the more effective naval fighting forces in the Galaxy, employing a mesh of tactics and doctrines seen in both Imperial Remnants long past as well as utilizing the stratagems and mandates of their foes to harness the power of an ever evolving armada that constantly seeks to adapt and remold itself as conflicts progress to isolate and exploit the weaknesses of their enemies.

The story of the Armada is not that of the instruments of destruction but of the very men and women who so preciously position the might of the Empire into its optimal stratagems and the periless journey along the way.

MILITARY | STARFIGHTER CORPS

"My talent is for killing the Empire's enemy, and that is the mission you'll give my men."
- Soontir Fel
The Imperial TIE Pilot is one of the deadliest tools of destruction at the disposal of the New Imperial Order. Each and every one of them some of the most talented and trained in their field, opting for sheer speed and necksnapping maneuverability over sluggishness or raw power. The starfighter corps is the oil to the gears, the scalpfolding of the essential foundation work formed together to make up the New Imperial Order's Armed Forces. Explore squadron dynamics and inner focus as pilots fight for space and air superiority as well as offering air support to the soldiers on the ground.

FORCE USERS | IMPERIAL KNIGHTS
"Do you understand?"
"No, sire. But I will obey."
- Roan Fel and Antares Draco
The Jedi and Sith both are outdated, ineffective and inhuman ideologies in the eyes of the New Imperial Order. Thus, the Force Order and arm of the Order is its Force Corps otherwise simplified and known as the Imperial Knights or the Knights of the Empire. They are valiant crusaders who utilize the shades of grey between Light and Dark as a tool to vanquish their enemies.

They are loyal to the Imperator and the Empire above all else, with the Force embodied in Order. The values upheld by the Knights are simple. Valor, Discipline and Order. Incorruptable, no darkness shall seep into their ranks as any deemed 'crestfallen' are summarily executed by their brethren though this isn't to say that Jedi can not enter the ranks nor that Sith or Dark Jedi not redeem themselves in service to the True Empire.

INTELLIGENCE | IMPERIAL SECURITY BUREAU

"What we say is principle, what we decide is regulation, what we do is law."
- Drelfin
The Galaxy is one of lies. It is up to the Imperial Security Bureau to snuff them out. The intelligence arm of the New Imperial Order, the ISB is a secretive organization of operatives and agents strewn across the Order and the surrounding space to watch, survey, infiltrate, sabotage and enforce the will of the Imperator unto its enemies in the shadow. Each agent is highly trained and selected only after a rigorous process though the operatives of the ISB come in many forms with many lingering in roles highly unexpected.

POLITICAL | COMPNOR

"Only through the projection of power do we bring order."
- Wilhuff Tarkin
The Committee for the Preservation of the New Order, the Imperial political apparatus, has returned. Though now it is has abandoned its roots of 'Human High Culture' , 'Male Chauvinism' and other tenants which drove divisions between the Imperial people and instead favors a New Order philsophy reshaped by the Imperator to work in the service of the Imperial people by strengthening them on the homefront and weakening their enemies aboard by the utilization of asymmetric warfare and active measures.

Propaganda, infiltration and disinformation will win battles before ships ever leave hyperspace or soldiers ever reach the ground. With its aim at 'Force Iconoclasm' ie the destruction of both the Sith and Jedi and the authoritarian populist view of its New Order philsophy, COMPNOR is an entity all its own with the New Imperial Order while it acts in service to the Order, it is a polarizing group within and without it.

POLITICAL | MOFFS AND WARLORDS

" The Empire is a government. Day after day people live their lives under Imperial rule without ever seeing a stormtrooper or hearing a TIE fighter scream overhead."
- Mitth'raw'nuruodo
The political structure of the New Imperial Order's client worlds are that of nigh feudalism. While the Imperator is the sole leader, unelected and rules absolute, the Imperial Moffs and divergent Warlords beneath his reign rule over realms each their own. Though they are bound in loyalty to the New Imperial Order, ideological divergences between each of them manufactures an aura of partisanship and tension within the Moff Council.

While many Moffs adhere their worlds as closely as possible to the New Imperial Order's aesthetic and ideology, many take autonomy in the governorship of their realms in the form of 'Warlords' some being even more fanatic in the dreams of Empire while others are more keen on reform or rebuilding a home long lost in-exile. Here is where the 'setting' of the New Imperial Order is deepened by the character that Moffs and Warlords each imprint unto their worlds, making the space held by the New Imperial Order more enjoyable to explore and write within while traversing an uncertain and tense political atmosphere.

SUB-FACTION | SONS OF MANDALORE

"Many men will volunteer to die, but few will be patient in the face of pain."
- Canderous Ordo

With the New Imperial Order's origins steeped in defiance of the Sith Empire, they were quick to broker an alliance with fellow wayward sons. Manda'yaim was brought unto ruin by the Sith and thus her children were scattered through the Galaxy with many consolidating into several different factions. One of which, is the Sons of Mandalore. A union between the philsophy of the Crusader and the Protector, these Mandalorians are militant in their crusade of the homeland but not blind to the Galaxy they exist within.

The Mandalorians are a proud people but they are small in number and each attempt to thrust themselves to prominence on the Galactic stage has driven them further to extinction. Thus many within the Sons of Mandalore have taken what has been offered by the Order. A pact made in blood between the Imperial and Mandalorian to co-exist and with the help of the other, the Mandalore Sector will be freed and the governance of it returned to the rightful heirs of Manda'yaim to cultivate their creed and rebuild what has been destroyed.

SUB-FACTION | TRADE FEDERATION

"You have to understand what these sectors were like before the Trade Federation arrived. And if it were made to leave? Then there'd be no law at all."
- Firmus Kett

The Trade Federation has returned and has been swift to embed itself into the space of the New Imperial Order. Establishing itself unto historic Banking Clan worlds (Muunilinst, Scipio and Mygeeto) the Trade Federation is an ever expanding extra-governmental entity responsible for providing a great deal of the New Imperial Order's war machines as well as acting as the road paved behind them, working to rebuild and reinvigorate the worlds otherwise shredded by war.

But their motives are not soo innocent. In the end, they are war profiteers. Feasting off of endless Galactic conflict and reaping the spoils of a militarized economy ever set down the war path. It is a tenuous relationship but one where, for now, both sides seem to benefit. Within the Trade Federation a great deal of the corporate, financial and underworld side of the Galaxy can be explored and fleshed out.
OTHER
No character concept is well and truly 'off the table' as it were outside of some exception such as overt Sith or Jedi crusaders, the NIO is yours to make of it whether it be to write a gang lord in its underworld, a mercenary in its service, a dark sider looming in the shadows or a corporate profiteer seeking to exploit the ever consuming war machine of the New Imperial Order, there is a wealth of opportunity to make a unique character that melds seamlessly with the aesthetic of the realm.

ORIGIN POINTS
While invoking a great deal of the aesthetic foundation of the canon Galactic Empire and Imperial Remnants, the New Imperial Order's coming to power does not so closely resemble them. The New Imperial Order began as a rebellious entity, a rogue state formed by Irveric Tavlar, Vaulkhar Zambrano, their confidants and retinue who vowed loyalty to them. It is less a regimented state where its populace has been born and bred in the philsophy of the New Order but instead one willed into existence with the valiant efforts of what initially began as a motley band re-igniting the fires of a 'True Empire'.

What this implies is that stories of characters 'born under the New Imperial Order on Nirauan' or had always known the faction to be a fact of life in the Galaxy are very rare and warps the ability to suspend belief. The NIO is a young state in-character and thus, the origins of new characters made in the purpose of writing within its story should reflect that.

Below are a few example directions any new NIO character might come from.

CvR7Luy.png

SITH IMPERIAL DEFECTORS
"We shall eliminate the Sith. And save the Empire."
- Trachta
The vast majority of the New Imperial Order's veteran fighting force has been drawn from the military units that defected from The Sith Empire within the initial stretch of the Imperator's defiance. Though the numbers of those defiant souls grow thinner with each passing day as their veterancy puts them at the tip of the spear they are still a vaunted and respected strata of the New Imperial military and government.

The motives vary among them with many aligning with the Sovereign Imperator Tavlar himself in wanting to be free from Sith control, to build an Empire for the Imperial, a better state of order and security not behest to the desires of a dark cult while others...others just wish to reap the chaos of war and count how many Sith Knights they can put below the earth in the hopes of gaining higher command in a newer government less attached to nepotism or force user bias.

IN-EXILE
"I think I need something more than killing and fighting in my life. I need a purpose."
- Canderous Ordo
To many, the New Imperial Order has been viewed as a beacon of opportunity. An opportunity for vengeance. The dawning of the Iron Sun has drawn many groups in-exile to its banner, hoping to prove their worth to the Order and either shape a new future for themselves all their own or to reclaim what has been taken from them. The Sons of Mandalore, noble houses of Serenno, the Fel dynasty and the wayward children of dormant worlds have all gathered to a form an indomitable host able to bring the Galaxy to its knees.

In this effort, the brazen and truest traits which brought them to the Order have been reflected in the True Empire itself all the while, the strengths of the Imperial have reflected back unto them to mold an unbreakable will of defiance.

IDEOLOGICAL CRUSADERS
"An empire is never peaceably acquired or maintained. It is willed into existence. We are that will."
-
Firmus Piett
The cauldron that is the Galaxy has wrought many Imperial states into fruition and damnation several times over. The Galactic Empires, the First Order, the Core Imperial Confederation. They'd all expanded to subjugate massive swathes of the Galaxies only to be ravaged by the world within and without them.

Though even if governments and infrastructures fall, ideals, men and women do not. In the wake of these Imperial states have left a swath of veteran souls seeking purpose once more, to align themselves to a state that recognizes an ideology and way of life that they know better than any other.

Many from the former ranks of the First Order, the Galactic Empire and Core Imperial Confederation have flocked to the New Imperial Order for a resurgent purpose. There is no telling how many more lurk in the galaxy waiting for their calling.

TO COME:
