SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Possesses two different lasers, one laser above and along the barrel is a laser range-finder, the other is below and along the barrel, and is a visible or IR laser for pointing the weapon in close range battle.
  • Modular, with rails present to allow a great deal of personalization for the weapon's sights, grips, and under-barrel weapons, as well as two different charges, one for standard use, another larger one that turns the blaster into a repeating blaster in concert with a heavier barrel to take the heat.
  • The barrel is longer and more durable than the CBR-800, making the weapon slightly heavier, but it now hits much harder and at much longer ranges, although it does possess a kick if someone doesn't have the strength or training to handle it, but it isn't unusable.
STRENGTHS
  • Excellent long-range performance.
  • Great ergonomics allowing an easy and natural feel.
  • Designed to counter armored opponents.
  • Any weapon can become a repeating blaster with the right power pack and barrel.
WEAKNESSES
  • Longer than most weapons.
  • Does not share any parts with the more common CBR-800, making it difficult to interoperate both weapons systems (Only its ammunition power packs are able to be swapped)
  • A heavier weapon than its predecessor.
  • Has more of a recoil, meaning it takes more strength and training to handle this weapon proficiently.
DESCRIPTION
A weapon commissioned specifically to not only fall into the CRAF's military doctrine of modularity and contingency which is what its predecessor the CBR-800 did so well but to do these things even better. Not only does this weapon allow Crossroads troops to engage from a much longer distance than before but they can do so with large volumes of accurate fire against heavily-armored opponents. As expected, the CBR-801 is sturdy, easy to learn how to use, comfortable when aiming down the sights, and highly modular, allowing any one weapon to be modified into any sort of configuration: There are set-ups for collapsible stock carbines for vehicle crew and pilots, carbines for security personnel and air assault troops, full-sized rifles for standard line infantry units, automatic repeating blaster configuration with a bump stock a heavy barrel and an enlarged power pack for continuous fire, and a marksman rifle with the longest barrel and the room to mount a scope and a bipod. Production of these weapons is simple and straightforward, adhering to lessons learned from the CBR-800, and its design is meant to take advantage of the Crossroads Republic's unique circumstances having troops with powered exoskeletons and higher-than-average strength and conditioning compared to the soldiers of other major powers. The weaknesses of this system are designed to so that the troops themselves can shore them up to create a superior combination of soldier and weapon.
