Strengths:
  • The Carrack II is incredibly survivable, with the reinforced bulkheads ensuring that even if broken into pieces, the ship will still retain emergency power and atmospheric integrity to preserve the lives of surviving crew.
Weaknesses:
  • The firepower of the Carrack II is distributed around the entire hull, making it difficult for the ship to focus its firepower when enemies are attacking from almost every angle.
Description: The Carrack II-class Frigate is based on the ancient Carrack-class Light Cruiser, a small and survivable ship once used by the ancient Galactic Empire. The Carrack II is increased in overall size by approximately 14.3%, giving more room for its new 1.1:1 matter-antimatter reactor. Its armaments primarily comprise solar ionization cannons for anti-hull work and heavy ion cannons for anti-shield and subsystem work, with composite beams for anti-fighter work. It has more firepower than the currently extant Shard-class Assault Frigate, but the guns are more distributed across the hull. The main quality of the Carrack II that endears the relatively new frigate to its crews is the survivability. The reinforced duranium hull segments, combined with energy crystal-powered backup life support systems and numerous bulkhead doors, ensures that even if cracked into several pieces, the remaining hull sections of a destroyed Carrack II will maintain atmospheric and structural integrity long enough for the crews to be rescued. Crew retention was important to the success of the original Carrack, and it remained of import to the designers of the Carrack II as well. Carrack IIs now form an important part of the Sith navy, and a large group of them is as equally capable of taking down a ship much larger than it as the original Carracks were a long time ago.

At this time, we've generally been keeping solar ionization cannons at minor production or below because they ignore shields.

Overall, this is one rating too high.

Moving production up to "minor" would fix both issues, but if you wanted to adjust ratings or change weapons, that's always a possibility as well.
