OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To codify an NPC for future RP.
  • Role: Byron Devorak is the top enforcer of Han Werdegast, as well as a powerful Force User.
  • Permissions: N/A
  • Links: N/A
PHYSICAL INFORMATION
  • Age: Unknown; probably at least a few centuries old
  • Force Sensitivity: Master
  • Species: Lesser Sanguinius Vampirika
  • Appearance: A male vampire of below average height (around 5"6') with a fit physique, Byron has dusky purple skin, wavy white hair, pointed ears, glowing eyes and sharp teeth. His style is strange and eclectic; part dark sorcerer, part space cowboy, part flamboyant dandy.
SOCIAL INFORMATION
  • Name: Byron Devorak
  • Loyalties: Han Werdegast
  • Wealth: Funds are provided as needed by Werdegast.
  • Notable Possessions:
  • Skills: Byron is both a servant and a contract killer. He can perform any job that is required of him by his employer, though he specializes in killing targets and disposing of evidence. He is very knowledgeable of forensics and can even pose as a criminal investigator if necessary. Amusingly for a bloodsucker, he is also a pretty good cook.
  • Languages:
    • Basic (fluent)
    • Huttese (fluent)
    • Smatterings of a few other languages
  • Personality: After every completed job, Werdegast will offer Byron a reward, asking him what he would like. Byron always replies, "Nothing, my lord." By all accounts, Byron is unwaveringly loyal and harbors no ambitions whatsoever. His alleged lack of interest in obtaining more power, wealth, or other material gains is part of the reason why Werdegast values him so highly, but it can make his motives appear rather enigmatic. He is otherwise very blunt, expressing his biases and prejudices with brutal honesty. He will give his opinion, but will rarely make his intentions clear.
COMBAT INFORMATION
  • Weapon of Choice: Pistol | Vibroknife | Hands & Teeth
  • Combat Function: Byron is adept at close-quarters combat, with a preference for small arms such as pistols, knives and daggers, or even his bare hands and fangs. He is a master of the silent, undetectable takedown, and can utilize the environment to his advantage. On the battlefield his skills would be largely useless, but then he is unlikely to venture into a warzone.
  • Force Abilities (Force Users Only):
Strengths:
  • Posesses all of the strengths of a Lesser Sanguinius Vampirika.
  • Force Sensitive: With centuries of experience, he is quite skilled and powerful in the Force.
  • What Do Your Elf Eyes See?: Byron possessed greatly advanced eyesight and hearing even before he was turned. Becoming a Lesser Vampirika only increased the keenness of his natural senses. He is also exceedingly quick and nimble, able to outmaneuver his enemies.
  • Child of Midvinter: Byron has an extremely high tolerance to cold even compared to other cold-blooded vampires, perhaps hinting at Aelvar ancestry.
Weaknesses:
  • Possesses all the weaknesses of a Lesser Sanguinius Vampirika.
  • Force Null: Anything with a Force nullifying effect, such as ysalamiri, void stone, or nullification resin, will strip Byron of his sorcery, forcing him to rely on his other skills.
  • Glass Cannon: While he is quick and nimble, compared to other Vampirika he is not particularly strong. He could still overpower an ordinary Human, but against another vampire it would be a struggle.
  • Sensory Overload: Due to his superior eyesight and hearing, sudden bright lights or loud noises can temporarily impair these senses to a degree where they become significantly worse than that of a regular human.
  • Ethnocentrist: While he generally views his own kind as superior to other types of vampire, Byron loathes Sangnir in particular, seeing them as worthless parasites whose inability to control their bloodlust gives the rest of them a bad name. He has never met a Sangnir who wasn't a complete degenerate, and expects all future encounters with them to be the same, so he is more likely to become hostile toward them at the slightest provocation (or no provocation at all, depending on the circumstances).
  • Technologically Challenged: It isn't so much that he's incapable of adapting with the times as he is simply stubborn and easily frustrated by new and/or complicated technology. A less-than-user-friendly datapad or Holonet site can quickly become a stumbling block. Slicing is out of the question.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Byron Devorak isn't his real name. Whatever moniker may have been given to him at his mortal birth has been lost to the sands of time and his own failing memory. He doesn't remember anything more than flashes of his life before he was turned, mostly feelings rather than images.

He thinks he may have come from a cold, snowy place. At some point he left his home, venturing out, looking for... something vague. Probably seeking his fortune. He was attacked and left for dead. Then, a savior came to his rescue. A vampire called Han Werdegast.

In those days Werdegast was not the ruler he is now. Byron has been at his lord's side for centuries, witnessing his rise to power and prestige, sharing in its bounties. He never asked for more than he was given, never expressed any ambition beyond the glory of his master's house. After so many years of loyalty and devotion, Werdegast wishes to reward his most faithful servant. What form that reward will take remains to be seen. And if there's anything that can make Byron Devorak nervous, it's not knowing what "gift" will be bestowed upon him...

Having looked at the sub for his species, I am confused as to what you mean. Lesser Sanguinius Vampirika are not a completely Force Sensitive species. If you are referring to the Aelvar, that was intended to be a possible source of his ancestry rather than definite fact. I can edit the language of the sub to reflect that.

No it’s not a new policy. It’s something most codex judges ask for and have for years. Regardless we don’t judge based on precedent.

Edit: it’s not a hard and fast rule and I likely confused species and NPC looking at my original post. I’ll chat with Srina…
