PRODUCTION INFORMATION
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
  • Classification: Force-imbued Katana
  • Size: Average
  • Weight: Average
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Blade is infused with the Force, making it very strong, resilient, and able to cut through most materials as well as damage non-corporeal spirits.
  • The blade can be summoned forth from a pocket in the Nether via a tattoo on Ishani's body, which links her to the weapon. If the blade leaves her hand, it is instantly returned to this pocket dimension.
  • Dantari crystal can occasionally recycle the energies of combat to the wielder, strengthening their Force power.
  • Ishani can temporarily channel pyrokinesis or cryokinesis into the blade, causing it to deal heat or cold damage to her opponents.
  • Blade has a yellowish glow and a rope-like pattern (see image).
  • *Sexy red dress not included.
STRENGTHS
  • Alchemist's Blade: The katana requires no energy source; it glows with the power of the Force flowing through it, having been altered during the forging process. It has a reinforced lattice which both strengthens and sharpens the blade, making it preternaturally strong, resilient, and capable of slicing through most materials (and people - and spirits!).
  • Summoned From the Nether: When not in use, the blade is stored in a pocket dimension located somewhere within the Netherworld. The blade is connected to Ishani via a tattoo on her body, allowing her to summon it from the Nether at will.
  • Dantari Crystal: The crystal placed in the hilt of the katana is married to the blade, having also been channeled with the Force. This type of crystal tends to bond strongly to the wielder of the weapon, and can occasionally recycle the energies spent during combat to fuel the wielder's Force power.
WEAKNESSES
  • Not a Lightsaber: As cool as it is to wave a magical katana around and despite the occasional fire damage, this is not a lightsaber and lacks many of its advantages. Trying to use it to cut through metals, for instance, would be impractical, and it cannot block blaster shots.
  • Reflection: As the crystal's bond with the wielder grows stronger, it will reflect their alignment, making it difficult for them to hide their presence in the Force so long as the weapon is in their possession.
  • Pocket Dimension Blues: The process of summoning the blade has an adverse effect on Ishani, sapping a small amount of her energy. If she were to attempt to summon it while in a weakened state, it would either further weaken her or, in the worst case, she wouldn't have the strength to summon it in the first place.
  • Channeling: Channeling pyrokinesis or cryokinesis into the blade is also taxing and can only be done in short bursts, with periods of rest afterwards to recuperate the energy lost during the process. Generally speaking, it should only be done to accomplish a specific purpose.
  • Force Voids: The Force-related properties of this weapon will be rendered null when in the presence of Force-dampening objects or fields, effectively turning it into an ordinary (if very well made) katana.
DESCRIPTION
Lightsabers? Yeah, they're pretty cool and all, but swords are also cool and just as effective at killing people. Okay, look, Ishani is kind of afraid of lightsabers. They seem like they're really dangerous for the wielder as well as the target. Like, you could burn your own hair off with one of those things, or accidentally slice off a finger. Scary.

So when it came time for Ishani to make her own weapon(s), she opted not to construct a lightsaber. Instead, she asked her metallurgist friend Arcturus to hammer out a sword for her to then imbue with the Force, following techniques practiced by ancient followers of the Bogan and Ashla alike. Arc suggested experimenting with an idea he had involving tattoos and pocket dimensions in the Netherworld, and she agreed to be his guinea pig. The result is the Butter Knife, a weapon that looks cool, does its job, and is unlikely to singe her hair in the process.

Why is it called the Butter Knife? Because telling someone you killed somebody with a butter knife is funny.

  • Added link to thread "Notation From the Stars" under Links.
  • Added features:
    • "The blade can be summoned forth from a pocket in the Nether via a tattoo on Ishani's body, which links her to the weapon. If the blade leaves her hand, it is instantly returned to this pocket dimension."
    • "Ishani can temporarily channel pyrokinesis or cryokinesis into the blade, causing it to deal heat or cold damage to her opponents."
  • Added Strengths and Weaknesses related to the above.
  • Might've also added a little bit to Description?
