OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To create a 'deluxe' nutrient frame for Ysalamiri for use by Breshig War Forge Consolidated, it's subsidiary Strill Securities as well as Mandalorians and select others.
  • Canon Link: N/A
  • Permissions: N/A
  • Primary Source: Nutrient Frame
PRODUCTION INFORMATION
SPECIAL FEATURES
STRENGTHS
  • Compact and Light: The device is relatively compact, allowing a small device to be mounted on an armor backplate below it. Additionally, thanks to the use of advanced lightweight materials, it is not as inconvenient to carry and move around in as some other nutrient frame models available on the market.
  • Resilient: With a frame made from Stesr'gar, featuring Stesr'gar-Reinforced Stygian-triprismatic polymer composite armor, with a thermal gel and Agrinium mesh liner and featuring a combat de-ionizer the frame is very resilient and quite safe from most sources of damage, making it perfect for use on the battlefield, where both direct and indirect sources of damage are a plenty.
  • Blissfully Unaware: The Ysalamiri is held blissfully unaware of its surroundings in suspended animation. Should those systems fail or become damaged to the point where failure is imminent, the system will automatically inject the Ysalamiri with a dose of Thanatizine, simulating suspended animation. Once out of Thanatazine, the system has enough nutrients in the frame to last a week. The system also features a sonic and inertial dampener, as well as a temperature regulator, this combined with the condensed-matter composite reinforcement allows the creature to be blissfully unaware of its surroundings once conscious.
  • Stealthy: Designed for small commando teams operating behind enemy lines or elite shock troops conducting precision strikes, the unit has been covered in Reflec and is armored with Stygian-triprismatic polymer to reduce its sensor profile as much as possible.
WEAKNESSES
  • EMP/Ion: Should EMP/Ion damage get through, it can short out the stasis system and the automated injectors, leaving only the nutrient frame functional. Potentially, it can also cause nerve damage or cardiac arrest in the Ysalamiri.
  • Space: While compact, the pack still prevents the use of most jetpacks, shield generators, field packs and the like.
  • Two Week's Supplies: The pack has enough Thanatizine for one week, and enough nutrients in the frame for one week. After that, resupply will be required, and after little over a week without nutrients, the Ysalamiri will die. Spare nutrient and Thanatizine cartridges are sold.
  • Priority Target: Once the enemy realizes what it is, they are likely to prioritize targeting the wearer to allow their own force users to bring their abilities to bear.
DESCRIPTION
"Inertial Dampener, sonic damper, condensed-matter composite reinforcements...what the shabla haran is this, the executive suite at the Oyu'baat?"
- Shuklaar Kyrdol, CEO of Strill Securities
Nutrient frames have in the last twenty or so years become a staple for Mandalorian armed forces, and have left a bad taste in the mouth of many a saber jockey and their supporters. While Breshig War Forge Consolidated could care less for galactic politics, or even public perceptions of Mandalorians that resulted from actions not their own, the company knew that to pretend that the frames were not necessary was to pretend that the galaxy didn't have numerous powerful force users that would soon become a problem for them to have to deal with.

Though intended initially for small commando units, or elite shock troopers, hence necessitating the stealth features, the pack still saw use by others, especially in their sales to other Mandalorians. For this purpose, the unit is also light, compact and resilient. However, its size still prevents the use of most jetpack/jump pack models, shield generators and field packs. The pack itself is designed to keep the Ysalamiri unaware of its surroundings, thus keeping the little lizard as stress free and calm as possible, as stressful conditions can tend to have dramatically adverse effects on the creature.

That said, should the pack's stasis field become damaged to the point of failure, or imminent failure, the in-built systems will switch over to a Thanatizine injector which makes use of a painless injector that will not even leave a mark. Unfortunately, the pack only contains enough Thanatizine for a week of operation, and after that, the Ysalamiri will have to be sustained by the nutrient frame itself, which only has enough nutrients to last a week. Though replacement Thanatizine and nutrient cartridges are also sold.

Unfortunately, given public perception of Ysalamiri nutrient frames, chances are that any troops carrying them will be prioritized by hostiles. A warning about this is included in the pack's product information.
