SPECIAL FEATURES
- Explosive Type:
- Missile: None. Payload consists of four cluster munitions.
- Submunition(s): High-yield Baradium High Explosive.
- Targeting Mode(s):
- Single Target: Single target mode covers targeting of a single unit of incoming ordnance.
- Multi-target: Multi-target mode covers targeting of multiple units of incoming ordnance, usually missile salvos in close formation.
- Surface-to-Air: Surface-to-air targeting mode covers engaging of aerial targets by ground-based launch platforms.
- Ship-to-ship: Ship-to-ship targeting mode covers engaging of starships by a another starship or emplacement in space or in atmosphere.
- Guidance Mode(s):
- Control-aided Active Homing:
- Pre-launch: The missile downloads sensor data, targeting and tracking information of the target as well as the IFF codes of all friendly assets in the area from the launch platform before launching.
- Launch: The missile acquires a sensor lock on target and begins accelerating toward the target. The missile cross-references target data from its own systems as well as from the launch platform constantly from this phase on.
- Midcourse: The missile slows its speed and deploys its submunitions that then enter a sustained high energy acceleration toward the target(s). The missile stays active, providing additional updated sensor, scanner and tracking data to its submunitions. Once all the submunitions have either self-destructed or successfully engaged targets, the missile will self-destruct.
- Salvo Mode: When fired in Active Homing or Waypoint Search and Destroy mode or if the missile switches to home on jam and salvo mode is enabled, a 'predesignated' missile will network with the other missiles launched to share data for a better sensor picture and will additionally assess the targets in the area and assign targeting. Alternatively, this missile can relay this information back to the launch platform if in range, and can receive targeting priority from it.
- Inertial Guidance: Utilizing a laser gyroscope system to calculate distance travelled, the missile checks it against the previously computed distance to target and then initiates detonation once the missile has reached that distance.
- Control-aided Active Homing:
- Launch Mode(s):
- Standard Launch: If not loaded into a mass-driver missile launcher, the missile can still be launched normally.
- Hot: The container's gasses are vented and the missile's engines are activated straight away following the pre-launch sequence.
- Cold: The missile is cold launched from it's container out of the tube using gas expansion before the missile's engines are activated.
- Magnetically Accelerated Launch:
- Hot: The missile is magnetically accelerated out of the launch tube and then immediately activates its engines.
- Cold: The missile relies on initial launch velocity from the magnetic launch system to close the distance during the launch and mid course phase before activating its engines on full burn in the terminal phase.
- Standard Launch: If not loaded into a mass-driver missile launcher, the missile can still be launched normally.
- Detonation Mode(s)
- Missile: Once all the submunitions have either self-destructed or successfully engaged targets, the missile will self-destruct. This detonation is too weak to cause any real damage to anything near the missile when this occurs.
- Submunitions:
- Proximity: The missile detonates while the target is in the missile's blast radius.
- Post Terminal Self-destruct: If for whatever reason the submunition does not detonate once the terminal phase is complete, it will detonate automatically at that point.
- Sensor, Scanner and Tracking Suite (Missile): The missile creates a composite sensor picture by cross checking data from all of its sensors when in guidance modes where it actively uses the to acquire/track targets.
- Dedicated Energy Receptor
- Electro Photoreceptor
- Long-range Heat Detector
- Long-range Energy Scanner
- Magnetic Signature Sensor
- Gravity-wave Anomaly Tracker
- Silhouette Signature Tracking
- Countermeasures Compensation Computer: The C3 analyzes any countermeasures the target deploys, such as jamming, "dummy" drones, flares or chaff, and predicts the target's path. The C3 continues to make minor adjustments up to the microsecond before the missile impacts.
- Sensor, Scanner and Tracking Suite (Submunition): The submunition creates a composite sensor picture by cross checking data from all of its sensors as well as data updates it receives from its launching missile.
- Propulsion and Maneuvering (Missile):
- Isotope-5 powered IR suppressed thrust trace dampened vectral equipped ion-atmospheric hybrid drive w/ scramjet booster
- Etheric rudder(s)
- Propulsion and Maneuvering (Submunition):
- IR suppressed thrust trace dampened vectral equipped ion-atmospheric hybrid drive w/ scramjet booster
- Etheric rudder(s)
- Security:
- Tamper Detection: Any attempt to reprogram the missile including through the use of Mechu Deru and similar abilities will result in the missile either triggering a micro-ion charge to fry its own circuits.
- Defenses:
- Communications Systems:
- Encryption/Decryption Suite
- Location Spoofing/Scrambling:
- Communications Suite: When connected to compatible systems, the communication suite is an auto-negotiating, frequency hopping system with a self-modulating encryption key, making it extremely resistant to jamming and interception. The comm-lasers can mimic this by rapidly shifting their broadcast spectrum.
STRENGTHS
- Jammer/Countermeasure Resistant: The missile and its submunitions use a composite sensor picture generated by cross checking data from its array of advanced sensors, scanners and tracking systems with launch data from its launch platform. This, combined with the countermeasures compensation computer drastically reduces the missiles vulnerability to jammers and countermeasures.
- Missile Deactivation Transmitter Immune: Once armed and active, there is no way to shut off the missile or it's submunitions (which are armed by the missile when it is launched). Missile deactivation transmitters therefore cannot shut off the missile once it has been launched.
- Excellent Sensors, Scanners and Tracking: The missile possesses a wide variety of sensors, scanners and tracking systems, giving it a fantastic ability to detect and track targets.
- (Essentially) Unlimited Range: The missile's Isotope-5 powerplant powered ion-atmospheric hybrid drive enables it to reach considerable distances to engage all manner of targets.
- Fast, Nimble and Deadly: The missile and it's submunitions are extremely fast and nimble, easily able to keep up with, track and engage the fastest and most agile airspeeders, repulsorcraft, starfighters, freighters, transports and gunships. This is not to mention its ability to track and engage its own kind; other nimble and speedy torpedoes, missiles and rockets. This speed and maneuverability enables it to engage artillery rounds and other comparatively slower moving ordnance with ease.
- Resilient: The missile and its submunitions' frame allows it to weather light point-defense fire and direct-attack countermeasures.
- Low Profile: With a reflec laced fiberplast exterior, etheric rudders and an IR suppressed thrust trace dampened vectral-equipped ion-atmospheric hybrid drive the missile and its submunitions have a very low sensor signature, especially when performing a magnetically accelerated cold launch.
- Swarm?: The missile's submunitions enable it to effectively engage large numbers of incoming ordnance or starships with ease.
WEAKNESSES
- Not Enough Boom: Heavily armored or shielded ordnance and starships can tend to withstand a submunition or multiple.
- Exotic Materials
- Volatile: If it takes enough damage to sympathetically detonate the warhead inside the launch tube the missile is likely not only detonate spectacularly, but likely set off other ordnance as well.
- Target Acquisition: Initial target acquisition is handled by the platform and should the launch platform lack sufficiently capable targeting and tracking systems then the missile is unlikely to be launched in time to intercept incoming ordnance.
- Not Stealth: Though possessing an extraordinarily small sensor profile for something of its size, the missile is in fact entirely detectable by particularly advanced military grade sensor suites, especially those that cross check data from different sensor and scanner systems such as the missile's own.
DESCRIPTION
The Vhey'oya'karur Tbarsr or ordnance hunter swarm is a new interceptor missile designed by Breshig War Forge Consolidated to engage enemy ordnance and starfighter threats in large numbers. As its name would imply, the Vhey'oya'karur Tbarsr is a cluster missile variant of the Vhey'oya'karur. Like the Vhey'oya'karur it is a heavily modified, scaled down version of the missile framework that can be launched from both man-portable launchers and larger emplaced and mobile launchers. The Tbarsr variant featured the the same Isotope-5 powerplant, which gave it considerable range for a missile of it's size, extended by the fact that the missile's submunitions have a considerable range of their own.
Like the Vhey'oya'karur, it was designed to engage the fastest and most agile airspeeders, repulsor craft, starfighters, freighters, transports and gunships as well as torpedoes, missiles, rockets and even artillery shells. Thanks to the missile's incredible range, it was capable of easily engaging targets in low orbit and even beyond (albeit with proportionately less ease) provided the launch platform can acquire a target lock on said target. Where the two missiles differed was the that while the mainline model was well-suited to engaging well-defended targets, the Tbarsr variant was primarily designed to engage swarms of lighter armored ordnance, starships and the like.
The missile uses a composite sensor picture generated by cross checking data from its array of advanced sensors, scanners and tracking systems with launch data from its launch platform. This, combined with the countermeasures compensation computer drastically reduces the missiles vulnerability to jammers and countermeasures. Additionally, once armed and active, there is no way to shut off the missile. These qualities transfer to its submunitions, which are armed once the missile is launched and are directed by the missile itself, which allows them to take full advantage of its capabilities.
Though possessing an extraordinarily small sensor profile for something of its size, the missile and its submunitions are in fact entirely detectable by particularly advanced military grade sensor suites, especially those that cross check data from different sensor and scanner systems such as the missile's own. It is for this reason particularly fortuitus that both the missile and the frame of its submunitions are resilient enough to allow it to weather light point-defense fire and direct-attack countermeasures.
