- PRODUCTION INFORMATION
-
- Manufacturer: Breshig War Forge Consolidated.
- Affiliation: Breshig War Forge Consolidated and Strill Securities.
- Material: Depleted Baradium Sabot, Mass-driver round components, nano missile components, Reinforced Duraplast Ultramesh liner, Ultrachrome electronics.
- SPECIAL FEATURES
-
- Targeting Systen Link: Initial target acquisition and designation is done through the round's short-range link to the 'Jai'galaar Sur'haai' Sensor and Targeting Suite or compatible systems..
- Guidance Modes:
- Active Homing:
- Pre-launch: The round downloads target information from the targeting system.
- Launch: The round's targeting microcomputer completes preliminary planning for maneuvering and plots the course.
- Midcourse: The targeting microcomputer compares initial target information to sensor data and decides whether any maneuvering or course changes are required.
- Terminal: The round switches to laser gyroscope inertial guidance for the terminal phase, preventing broad spectrum jamming from affecting it to a large extent.
- Control Guided:
- Pre-launch: The round downloads target information from the targeting system.
- Launch: The round's targeting microcomputer completes preliminary planning for maneuvering and plots the course.
- Midcourse: The targeting microcomputer compares initial target information to sensor data from the HUD or optic decides whether any maneuvering or course changes are required.
- Terminal: The round switches to laser gyroscope inertial guidance for the terminal phase, preventing broad spectrum jamming from affecting it to a large extent.
- Active Homing:
- Dumbfire: The rounds can still be fired without a target being set, acting precisely as standard mass-driver rounds.
- Rear-facing Comm Laser
- Sensor, Scanner and Tracking Suite: The round's guidance microcomputer creates a composite sensor picture by cross checking data from all of its sensors when in guidance modes where it actively uses the to acquire/track targets.
- STRENGTHS
-
- AP: These rounds have a depleted baradium sabot, given their extremely high velocity, these rounds have a high chance of penetrating heavy vehicle and starship armor even when they are made from exotic materials such as phrik and beskar.
- Minimal Miss Chance: Given the high velocity of mass-driver rounds and the added evasion mitigation and the ability to course correct that the guided rounds have the chance of actually missing a target is greatly lowered.
- Jamming Resistant: The composite sensor, scanner and tracking suite prevents broad spectrum jamming from affecting it to a large extent.
- Tracking: The round does not require the targeting system to be constantly locked onto the target during the target acquisition and assignment phase, just to be tracking the target.
- WEAKNESSES
-
- Targeting System Required: The round requires a compatible targeting system to mark targets, switch guidance modes and the like.
- Limited Maneuvering: These rounds are incapable of making any dramatic maneuvering. They can account for last minute evasion attempts by most targets, or be arced around or over the edge of cover, but nothing more.
- Resolution: The round's own sensors don't have the highest resolution due to the fact that they have be both hardened and miniaturized, and as a result the round's ability to engage low-profile infantry targets such as those with reflec coated armor and the like while using active guidance mode is notably limited.
- DESCRIPTION
-
With the new modernization of the SF/A-03 Jai'galaar-class Stealth Fighter-Bomber the company decided to produce new guided rounds for use by the new craft. This round was designed for craft's anti-armor loadout, perfectly complementing its anti-armor missiles. The new rounds also assist in the anti-ship role as well, easily able to potentially penetrate heavy ship amor made from exotic materials. Though not designed specifically against them, these rounds do have notably impressive performance against hostile biological threats as well.
These rounds greatly decrease the chance of unsuccessful target engagement due to the high velocity of most mass-driver rounds and the added evasion mitigation and the ability to course correct. The rounds are also convenient to use, as they do not require targeting system to be locked onto a target during the target acquisition and assignment phase, just to be tracking it. This allows gunners or automated systems to stay focused on the task at hand without having to focus on operation of the guided round. Additionally, the round is jamming resistant, as its composite sensor, scanner and tracking suite prevents broad spectrum jamming from affecting it to a large extent.
The round cannot function without a compatible, connected targeting system to mark targets targets, switch guidance modes and the like. Though if such a system were to malfunction, the round can still be dumb fired like a 'standard' mass-driver round. Though guided, the rounds are only capable of limited maneuvering. They can account for last minute evasion attempts by most targets, or be arced around or over the edge of obstacles, but nothing more. The major downside with the round, however, is the comparatively lower sensor resolution. The round's own sensors don't have the highest resolution due to the fact that they have be both hardened and miniaturized, and as a result the round's ability to engage low-profile small-sized targets such as those with reflec coated armor and the like while using active guidance mode is notably limited.
