Holonet BREAKING: Crisis on Alderaan

"This is a breaking Aldera Local Action News story."

The feed flicked to a camera drone at the parade in Aldera, followed by a voice-over. "We are coming to you live with a breaking development. A parade intended to celebrate the return of King Organa has developed into a full-blown crisis. We are still gathering details, but it appears the government has evacuated civilians, and forces have moved in to secure the area." Began the report.

"We have also received startling reports that Queen Amani has threatened a unilateral military strike on civilian infrastructure."

Repeated on the broadcast was a somewhat scuffed recording of the event that transpired.

"How about you give me a good reason why I should let you stay? As opposed to flattening this whole block with a turbolaser?"

"We have yet to understand the nature or seriousness of the threat. However, such an act, if carried out, would be unprecedented, and a stark backslide in absolutism."

"We will continue to cover this story as it unfolds."

Lodd never made it back from the party's refreshment table, opting instead to blend into the crowd and engage with the representatives of House Ulgo. His goal was to repair relations following the coronation incident, believing that by fostering dialogue with such a militaristic faction, he might compel the House of Organa to finally negotiate with the Trade Federation rather than dismissing them repeatedly.

Following an hour of fruitful negotiations, they successfully agreed to send a droid battalion to the planet, cleverly disguised as humanitarian aid for refugees arriving from the core worlds. However, just before finalizing the agreement, a holonet news alert interrupted his thoughts, revealing that Queen Amani Serys Amani Serys had threatened to detonate an entire block.

Although the report was likely taken out of context, it did little to ease his anxiety. A member of the Gunnery Battalion muttered under his breath, "She can't do that, shoot her or something." Lodd would agree with such an assessment but some thoughts were best left unspoken, particularly when it came to the sensitive relations with the Planet of Alderaan.

He understood that voicing his true feelings could easily spark a diplomatic crisis, a risk he was unwilling to take, especially not before his departure from the system to avoid being blown to smithereens.

With a sense of urgency, he hastily made his way back to his transport, his heart racing as he navigated the bustling landing platform. As he boarded his ship, the engines roared to life, providing a welcome distraction from the precarious situation he was leaving behind.

CORPORATE SECTOR

In their temporary quarters on the Farm, the night was winding down. Clad in his pajamas, Makai had pillows behind his back and a small pile of cookies on his chest as graviball played on the screen mounted on the wall. Truly the galaxy's favorite past time, the sport had fallen out of favor in many sectors but was still a solid third or so in popularity.

Thirty-Seven had blocked the Graviball Network but he had found a work around ; local holonet station broadcasts. Right now that meant Corporate Sector teams but graviball was graviball. Music echoed hrough the stadium as the announcers talked, the next batter moving towards the plate.

"Frieze Ral coming up to bat for the Maryo Miracles. Now here's a player that has simply been on fire. I know its early in the season Mick but this guy has the chance to lead the team all the way."

"You aren't wrong about that Jax. Saffalore Sox may put a damper on his streak, pitcher hasn't allowed any runs over the previous three game series."

"We're in for an interesting evening for sure."

Taking a bite of his cookie, the pitch was thrown, swing and a miss. As the second pitch went out, the bat met the ball with a massive crack and the crowd went insane.

"CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS MICK? RAL IS OUT OF THERE, ROUN-"

Screen broke away from the feed of the graviball game to the Alderaan parade. Makai groaned, they were in the Corporate Sector, far from any of that foolishness. Taking another bite of cookie as the Queen threatened to level an entire city block of her own people, Makai raised an eyebrow then it suddenly hit him.

"Hey Ells?!" He called out, wondering if Ellie was in earshot. "Isn't this the thing we skipped out on? Good thing....looks like we'd be turbolaser fodder."
