PRODUCTION INFORMATION
TECHNICAL INFORMATION
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Synchronized Fire Circuits; remote reciever allows droid to coordinate actions with nearby units
  • Database Retrieval System allows for streamlined data input
  • Limited Sentience, both pre-installed combat instructions and limited creative potential
    • Baseline Personality Matrix
  • Very high database-sourced knowledge of various weapon systems, operation and maintenance parameters
  • Non-lethal tampering countermeasure
  • Integrated Security, Anti-Slicing, Data-Retention Modules
STRENGTHS
  • Mass Production: The BR1 is optimized for mass-production in order to enable enough units to be produced so the battle droid can be deployed in ovewhelming numbers across various battlefields. It also ensures that any lost unit is easily replaceable.
  • Adaptive: The BR1 is outfitted with a Feyr droid brain; while this inhibits it slightly due to the fact that it is not a dedicated combat droid brain, it also opens up the possibilities of various roles that the BR-1 can undertake, such as menial labor and/or command oversight.
  • Countermeasures: The BR1 includes various anti-slicing and tampering countermeasures.
WEAKNESSES
  • Dumb-Fire: The BR1 is not an inherently smart model of battle droid. Its competent enough, but generally the strengths of the battle droid rely on a superiority in numbers, not combat ability.
  • Integrated Weaponry: The lethality of the BR1 depends solely on its access to external weapon systems.
  • Heavy Weapons: The design philosophy of the BR1 being expendable has meant that high-powered weapons can deal significant, destructive damage to a unit easily.
DESCRIPTION
Battle Droids have been a component of galactic warfare since time immemorial, their use dating back to before the inception of the first Galactic Republic. However, one constant has always been that Battle Droids served as a minority, supplementary military first, always outclassed by organic forces. However, there was one notable exception to this rule when it came to the use of battle droids in warfare: the Confederacy of Independent Systems. If there is one thing that the CIS is famous, or infamous for, it is the iconic B1 battle droid whose design elements are still incporated and use by various factions in the modern galaxy today, nearly nine centuries after the creation of the baseline model.

The BR1-series battle droid is meant to be the Confederacy's next evolution of the iconic model. It has a number of advancements that make it better in performance than the previous, aging model; its optimization for mass production allows lost units to be easily replaced, and the BR1 can be deployed in overwhelming numbers, a key part of the design philosophy behind the battle droid. The BR1 is also adaptive -- it's outfitted with a Feyr droid brain that allows it to perform a variety of different roles and greatly increases the capabilities of the unit, enabling it not only to perform well in combat but complete tasks such as menial labor and gives the droid command capabilities as well. One more feature that the BR1 introduces are elaborate countermeasures to protect the droid from slicing or other tampering, including standard non-lethal weapons integrated into the droid and anti-slicing firewalls and subroutines.

The BR1-series suffers from the same pratfalls that all droids of its type do -- it's meant to be a replaceable, cheap droid used to overwhelm a force in numbers, meaning that independently a single droid does not excel very well in combat, with average capabilities at best. To be lethal in a combat situation, the BR1 depends on non-integrated weapon systems such as blasters, and a BR1 isn't a very resilient droid, easy to fall prey to heavy weapons and lightsabers.

But when used how it is meant to -- rapidly overwhelm enemy forces -- the BR1-series transforms into a capable autonomous weapon of its own right, and it is no wonder that the droid model has seen the success it has. The BR1-series will be able to capitalize on that success and is envisioned to become the future staple of Confederate battles to come.
