She stood still while Saryn tended her hair, Careful to make sure his work was not undone while she listened in. It was a curious thing indeed, Her utter lack of history, As if she had just been born anew that day. And now she was about to potentially walk the gauntlet to become The Emperor's apprentice. How strange.

"Oh. So he has a few apprentices than? And here you had me believing I really was special" She chuckles nervously as Saryn finishes with her hair, Doing a fine job in her opinion. It just needed a little more... Fluff.
She runs her fingers through her hair on the sides and back a little, Fluffing it up and undoing just a little of Saryn's work whether she realized it or not.

"There we go. Anyway, What did you want me to look at~" Turning around, She is met with Saryn's slim figure dressed in his revealing black vinyl dress which was...

"Stunning, Saryn. I like it, I do" She says genuinely, Black and other dark colors being her prefered aesthetic it seemed, Judging by the clothes she'd picked for herself and what she she could see now. Maybe she was imperial material after all.

"That is to say; It clashes well with your uhm, Your complexion."

Saryn blushed. "Awwh, shucks. Making me blush. Thank you! I don't usually wear black so, it's nice to know it fits me.", he said with a smile. "Now....how to pass the time. We could watch a few holomovies on the couch, if you'd like? I've got quite the collection saved on file. Might be a fun way to see if we can jog any of your memories.", he said with a nod, beckoning her to join him as he sauntered over to the sofa he'd been sat on earlier, casually flicking on the holoprojector with a small remote.

One Day Later.....

The Amidala dropped out of lightspeed at the requested rendezvous point, Saryn and Kaila making their way up to the bridge to peer outside. The system itself seemed empty, though Saryn smirked. "Ahh, seems they're surprising us. Wait for it....", he said excitedly. Soon enough, it arrived. Tearing itself out of hyperspace, the massive worldcraft Malsheem appeared before their eyes. "Welcome to Malsheem, our home.", he said with a massive grin. The scale of that thing never failed to impress him. Saryn's pilot droid transmitted the special clearance codes to gain entry to the Worldcraft, touching down in a massive hangar bay where they'd be met by several troopers, led by a cloaked, masked figure, one of the Emperor's servants no doubt. "Lady Kaila. Mistress Saryn. The Emperor expects your presence in the training room.", the masked figure said with a monotonous voice from behind it's mask, bowing it's head politely.

Kaila lazilly stretched her arms before getting up from the couch where she had been binging holo-movies with Saryn the day before, Focusing intently to see if anything could jog her memory, But nothing worked. It was as if there was nothing to remember in the first place, Like the mind of a fresh clone. Almost.

There was nothing but gentle starlight at first as she entered the cockpit, Standing idly with her arms crossed as she enjoyed the view, Seeing the stars for... The very first time, Actually.

"It's so much prettier here than Krownest. The way the stars twinkle, I could stare at it all day"
She smiled softly at the sight, Waiting for whatever ship was to meet them here. She doubted anything could top this view right now

That all changed when the Malsheem suddenly tore into realspace before her very eyes, The Vahla witnessing hyperspace travel for the first time all over again as the massive worldcraft emerged, Causing her red little eyes to widen and her hands to thump against the glass as she lurched forward.

"Wow...! Malsheem huh? What is it? It's like a tiny moon! The time it must have taken to build..."

She waited there in the cockpit as the ship descended into the worldcraft, Her little red eyes taking in every sight as they passed turbo lasers and guards until at last they had docked in the well lit and metallic world she would be calling home soon enough.

When they finally emerged from the vessel, She couldn't help but look all around with a curious expression until the hooded figure approached, Heralded by the clacking of many plastoid boots which instinctively put the Vahla on edge as she stood there, Partially hiding behind Saryn as she bowed her head to the masked one. "Lady Kaila" had a ring to it she had to admit, Though it was still so alien to hear her name spoken that ways. Which reminded her, She needed to catch up on titles...

"Oh no... Saryn, I don't know what to call him...! How do I address the emperor?! Or any of these people?"

The men who stood in waiting to receive Saryn Naberrie and Kaila were as grim in demeanor as their surroundings, the cold dark metal plating offering very little comfort to either of them as they were led down the cavernous corridors. It appeared as though every square meter of Malsheem was designed to intimidate and terrorize, the only light source emanating from bright sterile luminescent strips installed in the walls, ceiling, and floor. Guard in flowing black tabards and rigid armor stood at every junction, their unseen eyes following the pair as they moved with their guides further into the monstrous worldcraft.
The majority of the hallways resembled one another, confusing to anyone who was unfamiliar with its layout. Any possible deviation in design was blocked by thick turadium doors, which remained locked at their approach as the guide led them past such entryways and down more and more impossibly long halls. It took several minutes of walking and several minutes of riding a rail tram through even more impossibly wide gulfs before they reached their destination.
Stepping off of the tram, both would be greeted by a large door that opened after the passcode was entered by their guide. Beyond that was another large metal canyon, at its far end a squat metal structure stabilized by parallel pillars leading into the ceiling and floor. The only passage across was a rail-less metal bridge, which by design looked as if it could be retracted at a whim.
Because of the grand scale of the chamber, a cold wind passed over the bridge as they crossed it.
What awaited them was the sounds of exertion, and the tell-tale sound of plasma swinging through empty air. Another door opened to reveal a wide flat expanse, and at its center was the former Emperor of the Sith. He was stripped down to his waist, his muscles flexing as he deflected a blow from the other entity in the room. She was far smaller than the once-Emperor and possessed a pair of bat-like wings, her lithe body clad in tight form-fitting clothes that granted her a wide range of mobility. In her hands was a pike which ended in a lightsaber blade, though the blade was noticeably dimmer than normal. The once-Emperor carried a more standard blade, though it was dim as well, and he blocked a stabbing attack by the smaller woman before pressing his own.
They traded blows like this back and forth for a while, neither acknowledging the new arrivals that were watching them. It wasn't until the once-Emperor slammed through the smaller woman's defenses and sent her sprawling to the floor did the battle cease.
"Better," the once-Emperor spoke roughly, his lightsaber deactivating as the smaller woman pushed herself to her feet. She said nothing, picking up her weapon before stalking off to depart through a door in the side of the dojo.
It was only then that Carnifex turned his attention to the others.
"Good," he said curtly, "You have followed my orders well. Bring her to me, so that I may look upon my new apprentice."

Saryn quietly whispered his reply to Kaila as they were escorted through the worldcraft's vast halls. "Just be polite and address him as Master or My Lord. Either works, though he'll probably prefer the former. Also, don't let the spooky atmosphere in this place worry you. I've got REALLY cozy quarters in the Emperor's personal levels upstairs. Given the size of this worldcraft, my "quarters" are the size of a spacious mansion.", he said with a grin. "Also, regarding the mistress thing. That's a bit of a running joke. None of them have noticed I'm male yet, bar the Emperor and my fellow concubines. We've got a betting pool going for how long it'll take them to figure it out.", he said with a giggle, before straightening out his dress before they were escorted into the Emperor's dojo.

He watched his master spar with his apprentice with interest. They had exquisite fighting form. Saryn REALLY wanted to train with a lightsaber at some point, though that'd be for a later time. When Carnifex spoke, Saryn politely curtsied. "Of course, beloved....", he said with a warm smile, before lightly patting Kaila on the rear to make her approach, whispering. "Go get him, tiger. Remember what I said!"

The feeling of walking through the Malsheem was the most dreadful she believed she'd ever experience. It was Dark. Cold. Daunting. Of all the emotions that fed the darkside, Fear was the greatest to build up in Kaila these past two days, And it had just reached an all time high.
Saryn seemingly picking on this, Had begun to comfort her, Speaking of his spacious and far more inviting quarters, And the humorous antics he'd been up to recently as the "Mistress" of his domain.

"Well, My thanks for your hospitality than, Mistress"
She stifles a chuckle, Able to find humor even in this dreary place.

Eventually they were led across the the cold abyssal chasm by way of bridge, Kaila holding her arms close to her partially exposed chest as they came across the windswept bridge, Which she swore could be retracted right beneath them. After this, They were escorted into the Dojo where she first beheld her new mast; The Emperor-Emeritus Carnifex, The pale epicanthix towering over all present like a titan of the darkside summoned from some hellish plain beyond as he dueled a being that was nearly equally as demonic, the bat winged creature that she suspected was her fellow apprentice dueling valiantly until she was at last thrown to the floor by a single maneuver, And then leaving quickly in silence.

"Good, You have followed my orders well. Bring her to me, so that I may look upon my new apprentice"

No amount of injury nor sorcery would ever make her forget the first time she heard her master's voice as it resonated through the halls, As if the force itself carried his voice through the world, Prompting a quick gulp in her throat. And it was clear to her in that moment that she had been right all along; She had no choice in this matter.

Instead of being brought to the Emperor-Emeritus like she had expected however, Saryn had the gaul to pat her forward by her rear, Kaila arching her back and lurching forward suddenly "Oh-!"

She'd have to pay him back someday.

For now however, She approached the pale titan in a slow march, Her fists clenched as she tried to carry herself with courage, The sensation of her own nails digging into her palms providing a smidgeon of distraction from the overwhelming dread that radiated from the figure she would seen know as her master.

Finally she comes to a stop not far away, Taking a few deep breaths as she looks up at the man before curving her back in a low bow with her arms held at her sides.

"Master." She said naturally, As if she had been this man's apprentice all her life. Behind that cool mask she'd summoned up with pure luck however, Was a raging storm of confused and frightened musings.

His gaze was compromising as it bore into Kaila as she approached, crimson halos set into seas of blackness. There was nothing to glean from his expression, for it was as if chiseled from cold unfeeling stone. Nor could his emotions be felt on the surface of his mind, just as his mind was an imperceivable enigma so too were his emotions virtually nonexistent. He was like a predator sizing up its prey, his mind devising all of the insidious means by which to kill and devour her.
When she bowed and deferred to him as master, none of that changed.
"You wear your terror on your sleeve, apprentice. That will have to change." He motioned with his hand, beckoning her to rise from her low bow. "A Sith is not controlled by fear, fear is controlled by the Sith. Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, and hate leads to power. Do not forget these words, apprentice, they will be your solace."
He reached down to his side and grasped the lightsaber he had been previously sparing with when they arrived and held it out for Kaila to take from him.
"What can you remember about fighting? I would see such knowledge put to the test as your first lesson, you may attack me with everything you have when you are prepared." He took no weapon himself, merely crossing both of his muscular arms over his equally muscular chest when she had taken the blade.

Saryn casually stepped back to lean against the nearby wall when Carnifex addressed his new apprentice. This was going to be interesting to watch, for certain. He couldn't help but be worried for Kaila. Their master would likely wipe the floor with her in this spar, unarmed or not. She had little idea what she was going up against, given her amnesia. Still, he was nearby to help her back onto her feet whenever the Emperor had finished with her.

He reached into his handbag, pulling out a small datapad. While they were sparring, he'd use the time to sort out Kaila's new living arrangements. Such tasks were usually left to Saryn. Despite being a Concubine, his wit and intelligence also made him a savvy secretary for matters like these. There were plenty of rooms available amongst the apprentice quarters, though most were quite....spartan in their design. Saryn's new friend didn't exactly have any possessions to fill up said room, either. Saryn, fortunately enough, had several extravagant guest rooms in his own spacious quarters. One of those would be far more appropriate and comfortable, he thought to himself. Better he could keep her close by to keep a better eye on her during her training and residency aboard the worldcraft. Though he'd only known her a day, Saryn felt obligated to keep his new friend as happy as he was able...

And just like that, What little courage she had mustered was apparently wasted. She flinched for barely a second before rising as she was beckoned, Carefully listening to her new master.

"
Do not forget these words, apprentice, they will be your solace."

"Yes, My master."

Solace indeed. Though she suspected that she had already disappointed him, There was a certain comfort in this first piece of wisdom. Where it felt like many would have chastised her for these emotions, Her master had merely commanded her to control them, Not abandon them. Supposedly these emotions would one day lead to power if she only had the will to reach out and refine them herself. An interesting prospect indeed.

Then, Something peculiar happened. The emperor withdrew a lightsaber, Holding it out for her to take. And in his own words, To strike him with.
A short wave of uncertainty washes over her in that moment, But also morbid curiosity as she nods to her master.

"I'm... Unsure. I hope that muscle memory will do."

Carefully reaching with both her hand and the force, She gently tugs the saber from his hand and into her own, Turning it over once or twice while inspecting the fine weapon. It was... Different, Somehow. And yet she felt that she knew what to do with it.

She activates the lightsaber, Her red little eyes following the red energized blade in awe for a brief moment as she drifts it slowly through the air until it rests in a low guard pointed forward like that of a duelist's stance, And in a flash of muscle memory, Her foot sweeps back, Taking a back weighted stance as her other free hand comes up, As if it too held a blade. At least, Until she realized it was empty, And instead rests it on her hip.

Satisfied with her the memory of her basic footwork, She looks up and lunges forward suddenly, Feinting a thrust into a sudden slash from below, Using the momentum of her curved swing to bring her wrist and hilt close to her chest and quickly thrust from the right, Beginning her duel in a graceful form, Though it lacked some of the refinement that she evidently had before losing her memory.

FzqLbgt.png

Cold eyes watched her move, anticipating her every action many fractions of a second faster than the average eye could train on. First came the footwork, the memory locked inside of her mind recognizing the basic stances that the person who was Kaila had learned before she had been remade. When she did strike, Carnifex was already moving before the impulse signals sent from her synapses had time to reach her muscles.
He dodged.
The blade swung cleanly through the air, missing the towering Sith Lord entirely. The feint was entirely bypassed by the once-Emperor's simple maneuver, his eyes now scanning the young woman's body language for a clue of her next assault.
It came from her right, his left. He decided to directly intervene and reached out with his hand, slapping the blade down towards the floor as his other hand struck out like a viper. Fingers curled, lower palm jutting out, Carnifex slammed his fist into young Kaila's chest with enough force to not only knock the wind out of her lungs but also send her flying back across the floor.
"Sloppy, but not abysmal. Room for improvement."
His arms fell back to his side as he straightened, "Again. Different approach."

Saryn cringed slightly when he saw Kaila punched backwards with such precision. Even he mentally felt that one, rubbing his chest slightly. He would've moved to help her get back up but he knew Carnifex would definitely not approve of any interference. It was fortunate he had some first aid kits back in his quarters. No doubt he'd have to patch up her bruises. Perhaps a broken rib or two if the Emperor was feeling particularly harsh this first training session. It wouldn't have been the first time he'd had to serve as a nurse.

He returned his gaze back to his datapad, keeping a neutral expression, though he did keep peeking up to see if Kaila was doing alright when he could get away with it....

"Gugh!" It only took one move to send her skittering across the dark and metallic floor... Coughing and gasping, She lay there for a moment catching her breath that had been forced out of her, As if the emperor's hand were a spectral bullet that forced her very soul from her lungs...

Once the pain had finally died down just enough for her to breath, She retrieves the deactivated lightsaber by hand. In a burst of determination, She grits her teeth as she raises both her legs into the air before throwing all her weight forward, Throwing herself onto her feet as she activates her lightsaber, Still panting softly as her red eyes narrow on the emperor.

She charges in full sprint, Lightsaber trailing at her side, Humming with each pounding step.

She waits until the very last second to let her legs suddenly drop, Sweeping at her new master's legs as she drops into a slide without warning across the metallic floor, Spinning back around towards her dominant hand, Barely having to turn at all to thrust jerk the blade back in his direction while rising her to feet, Simultaneously shoving with the force from her other hand and leaping back as far as she could to hopefully distance herself before her master could strike again. It was only now though that she registered the sharp sting in her chest with every breath. The Vahla's cartilaginous rib had snapped with ease under the Epucanthix's previous strike. She was a frail creature, But a determined one.

One might have assumed that Carnifex was doing this because of some sadistic pleasure, to beat his newest acquisition into the dirt for his own satisfaction. But the once-Emperor did not feel pleasure, did not feel satisfaction. He could not feel much of anything anymore, even his skin had become numb to the world around it. There weren't many things in the universe that could elicit even the faintest glimmer of feeling in his cold dead heart.
No, the once-Emperor did not do this to benefit himself. He was highly critical of Kaila's every movement, even as he sent her sprawling back to the floor again and again. He was studying her styles of attack, the vectors she took to try and not replicate the same strategy twice. He could see what tactics worked better than others, and which ones were utterly abysmal. There was definite room for improvement, that was to be expected, but Carnifex could now see where exactly Kaila needed to be pushed to reforge her into something of value to him.
He sent her to the floor again, this time having done so over a dozen times in the past half hour. Instead of urging her to come at him again, he instead wrenched the lightsaber from her fingers with the Force. The lightsaber flew into his own, and he clipped it back at his side.
"An enlightening test, apprentice. It gives me much to work with." His eyes moved to look at his concubine, who had been in silent attendance since they started. "Escort my apprentice to her quarters and tend to her wounds, but do not dull the pain. There is strength in suffering."
He turned away from both of them, hands clasped behind his back.
"I will send for you when your next test is ready."

Saryn rushed over to help Kaila up after such a brutal training session, taking gentle care not to aggrevate her already painful injuries. "Y-Yes, my lord.", Saryn said as politely as possible, wrapping Kaila's arm around his neck to support her while he guided her out of the room. "Just take deep slow breaths. I'll patch you up when we get to our quarters..." he said, as he supported her as best he could through the long and winding corridors and up several elevators, until they reached the entrance of Saryn's personal quarters.

As the door opened, the contrast between Saryn's vast, spacious personal abode and the rest of the station became evident. The place was brightly and lavishly decorated, with expensive furniture and art filling out the rooms. There were many rooms in Saryn's quarters, including several guest rooms, though he brought Kaila to his bedroom where he kept his first aid supplies, gently sitting her down on the bed while he walked into the nearby bathroom to fetch them, returning with bandages and an ample amount of painkillers. "No dulling the pain. Yeah, right....", he said beneath his breath, defiantly.

She fought with determination, Pushing herself through the pain of her broken rib despite having nothing to prove. She was no one, From nothing, So why even try to prove otherwise? And yet something drove her forward, As if this was the only way to her. But despite her best efforts, She was thrown to the floor time and time again, More bones broken. More skin bruised.

Eventually her leg gave out underneath her. Be it from broken bones or exhaustion, She did not know. And yet she knelt there on one knee with the lightsaber up and her free palm against the cold steel deck, Hissing in labored breaths through grit teeth as she mentally prepared herself for the next round of beatings, For the next round of shattered bones until her new master was satisfied, Or her cartilage bones had been broken to dust, And her body gave in to sweet release...

But it never came.

Instead, The lightsaber was ripped from her grasp, Returning to the hand of it's rightful owner, Who she silently prayed had plans to use that saber and end this finally.

To her surprise, He didn't seem entirely disappointed as he left. He wasn't done with her, Not by a long shot. She didn't know whether to be proud, Or afraid...

Even as Saryn caringly hoisted her from the ground, Her narrow red eyes followed the former emperor out of the room, Only to slowly shut as she fell out of sight, Replaced by the endless and dimly lit corridors or claustrophobic elevators as Saryn took her away, Her eyes shut the entire time. Saryn could easily feel both the anger and fear that had been building during the entire fight, And only barely dimmed as she was separated from that horrible place.

Eventually she was laid in Saryn's bed within his private quarters, But Kaila was in too much pain to acknowledge or even enjoy the welcome contrast of the lavish living quarters he kept. Instead, She laid on her side whilst clutching at her broken rib, Curling up into a little ball with her eyes shut tight, Still breathing slow breaths that seemed to cut out sharply with each inhale in a pained cycle of heavy breaths.

"Y-you lied to me..." She stammered in a voice that seemed almost more emotionally hurt than it was physically.

"I never had a choice... You people brought me here to suffer..."

"To suffer~!" She tried to yell, Barely croaking her angered cry through grit teeth as she lay shuddering there, Her emotions taking control where her mind slowly withered.

"I promise you, it's not suffering." Another voice echoed from the entrance of Saryn Naberrie 's room. A woman, of similar look, leaned in the doorway as she watched Kaila being laid out on the bed. She slipped from the wall once her presence was known, walking up behind her brother with a rather neutral expression. "He told you not to dull her pain. But, knowing you, you'd just get caught." Her skills in the force were nil, save for healing, but she didn't need to see the future to know he'd just get himself in trouble trying to care for this new apprentice.

Sera took a seat beside the poor acolyte, looking her over. "Oh, he did quite a number on you. If you can, lay back. I'll heal what I can, but don't expect the pain to go away. I can lessen it, but he would be furious if you felt none." She raised a hand, moving to gently place it on the girl's chest if allowed. Sure as she said, she would start to mend what was broken so Kaila might not accidentally perish from her organs being ruptured. "I avoided seeing what transpired, but was it the usual lesson?" Blue eyes shifted from the wounded to her brother. "She seems far more injured than the others have been."

Saryn lowered his head sadly when Kaila said he lied to him. "I-I'm sorry he hurt you so badly. I-I didn't think he'd be so rough for your first time. I'm-", he was about to continue speaking when Sera arrived. "Oh! Sis! I, err......sorry. I....just can't stand to see anyone in pain....", he said with a frown, a few tears dripping down his cheeks. He knew he could be punished for it, but his good nature stood above those worries.

"This is my sister, Sera. She's...also one of the Emperor's concubines, like me. She lives here with me. We're practically inseparable.", he said with an awkward smile, trying to lighten the tension, though he still felt awfully guilty. He knew Carnifex could be harsh to his apprentices, but he was never usually around to witness it like he did just then.

Kaila didn't recognize the second voice she heard, Not that she cared anymore. She was battered beyond caring right now, And as long as whoever or whatever was there would either fix this or just not make it worse, They could with her as they pleased far as she cared.
To her surprise however, This new face was not one of cruelty nor harsh emotion like she expected. Instead, The girl offered to help her. Not to take away the pain but to make it bearable, Which was more than enough to motivate her to follow the girl's instructions, Rolling over onto her back slowly, Still clutching at her own chest as Saryn introduced his... Sister... Who she immediately questioned in her mind what kind of relationship they had due to the circumstances...

"Charmed... I'm Kaila"
She winced her introduction through grit teeth before moving on to the next topic. Sera stated that the others weren't beat as badly. The truth, She suspected, Was that they were, But that she was the first Vahla they'd seen in this state.

"I'm Vahla. I have softened a skeleton made of cartilage where the other apprentices at least had bone... I think my rib snapped within the first minute of training hour..."

"Before you ask, yes, it's what you think." Not that she assumed Kaila would ask, but Sera was one to just get ahead of things. It's why she'd been waiting by Saryn Naberrie's room this whole time. Assumptions on what would happen. Her other, lesser skill in the Force. "Oh, you poor thing. I would of expected him to compensate for that, but I suppose it's only fitting he keep the same standards." She nodded to her brother, then to the door. Just in case. Last thing either of them needed was to earn the wrath of their benefactor.

When Sera was sure the door was at least being watched she'd begin. Deft fingers would do their best to remove the Acolytes clothing as painlessly as possible, though given the extent of the damage there was little to be done that could avoid it. "This will hurt much more than it does, but the pain will lessen when it's over. Um.. Ah, here." The woman pulled off her waist belt and offered it to Kaila to bite down on. Her words weren't an exaggeration. As Sera's hands began to glow and trail over the various bruises to try and rebuild her ribs it would feel like they were breaking all over again. A long, painful process with just how much damage had been done.

Even Sera was sweating when she finally finished the task, some hour or so later. Her eyes glanced to her brother, her own worry now apparent. "Do you have any ideas on how we could help her? If he continues this training, she'll likely break in places I can't heal." The spine being her biggest worry. Of course, she knew her master was not that careless, but the worry was there none the less. Accidents happened.

Saryn moved over to Kaila once Sera'd finished treating her as best she could, very gently wrapping the bacta soaked bandages around her torso carefully, to ensure he didn't aggrevate her still tender injuries. "Just patch her up as best we can and make sure her training doesn't cost her her soul.", Saryn said with a sigh, gently slipping a pillow under Kaila's head and covering her up with a blanket, affectionately stroking her head. "I'm so sorry.....", he said, still wracked with guilt.

"Listen. I fiddled with the paperwork for your housing arrangement while you were sparring. You can stay here with us two instead of being cloistered away in one of those dark empty apprentice quarters. We'll help you get through this however we're able, I promise.", Saryn said with a comforting smile, trying to put some hope back into her.
