- Unexploited Resources: Natural Flora/Fauna,
- Gravity: 1.5x Standard
- Climate: Dry and arid.
- Primary Terrain: Sandy Desert covers a majority of the planet except for a large "fertile" plateau which is mostly dry rolling plains.
- Atmosphere: Type II
- Capital City: Du'Qadra
- Planetary Features: Besides the near eternal desert there is really only one other biome on the planet, a single large plateau with scarce vegetation and fauna except around a large system of rivers that feeds into large inland seas scattered around the colossal plateau. Scattered about the world and buried under sands are ruins of some lost civilization, few of which have been excavated.
- Major Locations:
The Biomes: The biomes are massive octagons, roughly 100 square kilometers in size, which are artificial environments maintained by the local Jaieek'Ma. Most of these biomes are from local wildlife and flora that was either saved through conservation efforts or that new technologies have allowed to be revived. However, some of these biomes are samples from other planets, almost like a part of that planet was ripped from its sphere and placed on Bolosk. There are roughly 273 of these biomes, and almost all of them can be found on the main plateau that the Jaieek'Ma call home.
POPULATION
- Native Species: Jaieek'Ma
- Immigrated Species: Humans, Tygerii, other Near Humans
- Population: Moderate
- Demographics: Jaieek'Ma 92%, Tygerii 5%, Humans 2%, Other Near Humans 1%
- Primary Languages: Jereim
- Culture: The culture on Bolosk is one of extreme nationalism and pride in what they have accomplished on their world. Every aspect of this culture has been painstakingly designed and guided to create perfect citizens to help with their great task of re-seeding the planet with life and to defend the state and the planet.
- Government: Technocratic-Stratocratic Junta: A council of Scientists and High ranking members of the military act as the governing body of the planet. Every aspect of the civilization of the planet has been carefully designed to serve the state and give special benefits to the Military, which is held in high regard.
- Affiliation: N/A
- Wealth: Medium, the government of Bolosk is rather nationalistic and prides itself on its independence from the galactic economy. What wealth it does have is mostly self produced through a closed and highly regulated economy. So they certainly produce enough wealth to live off of and progress but not nearly enough as they would should they fully join the import/export economy of the galaxy at large. What wealth they do make outside of their own closed economy comes from state owned and operated mercenaries that lend their services across the galaxy and bring back wealth to Bolosk.
- Stability: High: Propaganda, and a carefully designed culture has lead to crime being near non-existent, citizens are loyal to the state, and this relative peace has proliferated in more loyalty, peace, and wealth.
- Freedom & Oppression: Citizens of the world have certain rights, a fair trial, due process, a right to a meaningful job and fair employment. Yet the government decides your education, employment opportunities, and even housing if you don't earn enough money to live independently, and few do earn that much.
- Military: Every citizen on Bolosk is expected to undergo military training from ages 16 to 20. At the end of their military career they are allowed to keep their equipment but are expected to answer the call to defend the planet at any time.
- Technology: Galactic Standard
Bolosk was a dying unnamed husk of a world. A sudden asteroid impact on the surface pushed the planet into a closer orbit with its sun causing rapid and catastrophic rises in temperature. Most of the local flora and fauna were eliminated over a course of two hundred or so years, leaving only extremophiles and organisms already adept at surviving high temperatures and lack of water. Forests turned to slowly to graveyards, rolling green hills to cracked and arid wasteland, and the winds slowly became more and more intense. Soon all that was left was a desert slowly growing to cover the rest of the planet and a few lifeforms that found refuge in the few oasis on top of the steppe. That is when the Jaieek'Ma's ancestors crashed into the sandy dunes of their new world.
The world continued to decay, leaving less than two dozen native species left. The Jaieek'Ma had carved out a pitiful existence of hunter gatherers fueled by what advanced technology they had scavenged along the way. Yet it was as they climbed the steppe and found what little flora was left on this world that they finally found a plan. Civilization. They grew rapidly, spurred on by old knowledge passed to them by their grandfathers they began to cultivate the land, carefully grooming it and letting the plants grow to beat back the desert. Over generations and the slow progression of their technology, their great farms grew and slowly rain returned to their little corner of the planet. They carved river beds to great valleys, forming the first lakes. It was during this time that small underground cities were constructed to escape the elements. These cities were connected via underground passageways, these passageways slowly evolved into trains and then metro systems, and then finally bullet trains.
The steppe is the host of 90% of the life on Bolosk and every inch of it has been clearly planned. Biomes of planted flora matched with different combinations of native and imported fauna have been created across the steppe, each a perfect octagon and fitting together to form a great grid of biomes stretching the steppe. Each of these 273 octagon biomes is roughly 100 square kilometers in size and are the pride of the planetary government. Millions of credits are dumped into maintaining these biomes with gardeners to make sure everything is growing properly, hunters to regulate animal populations, and recently, the expansion of these biomes into the sandy desert, slowly terraforming the planet 100 square kilometers at a time.
It was during the time of the wars with the Tygerii that militant and nationalistic elements began to thrive within the technocracy. Even during the war the Jaieek'Ma completed their 100th biome, and with it the nationalistic aspects of the government subsumed the technocracy and the two merged into one. The biomes became the pride of the government and no longer a attempt at survival. They became an art, elaborately designed and more complex than their naturalistic counterparts.
