Description:
The Bobison-Class World Defender is essentially a small carrier frigate, but stripped to the bare-bones, taking out all engines, hyperdive, and cargo carrying capabilities. Due to this their construction is much cheaper than the average frigate, but transportation is difficult. Worlds without shipyards commandeer the services of Lwhekk Aleph-Class Manufacturing Ships in order to get them constructed. Worlds are known to have many constructed, and put them in a non-decaying orbit around their world. This allows worlds to scan more territory during the day, with the advanced sensor and communications arrays of the weapons platfom serving as a an early warning system for when hostile ships drop out of hyperspace in system.

As the weapons platforms are either immobile targets or easily predictable targets(being put in non-decaying orbits), effort are usually made to keep the defense platforms as sparsely manned as possible, through design as well as using droid labor when applicable. For example, the two squadrons of Examen-Class Starfighters are never manned with fighter pilots, as the design of the Examen allows the fighter to be piloted by an astromech droid alone. Some models specialize in point-defense emplacements, while others specialize in quad-laser cannons, specializes to stop incoming warheads or fighters respectively.

The Bobison-Class World Defenders is named after Bob "Bobison" Parker, the man who gave his life defending Fringe Space. It is considered a tremendous honor by the Iron Crown productions, as well as the Lords of the Fringe citizens in general. Some have even taken to saying that "Even in death, Bobison defends us all".

Yes, I'm also 4 turbolasers short of the allowed maximum armaments. This is to allow for the advanced sensor array and communications systems, as well as allow for it to be extremely cheap compared to most frigates, hence allowing multiple of them per world.
