Setting.png

  • Structure Name: Bloodraven Hall
  • Classification: Palace
  • Location: Islimore
  • Affiliation: Gerwald Lechner | Varick Lechner
  • Accessibility: Bloodraven Hall is not easily accessible. Sitting on top of a cliff and surrounded by a towering range of mountains and two rivers, the only access point is through Blackbrook Wood, a mysterious forest full of tall trees, some towering taller than the human eye can see.
  • Description: Hidden within the Abolese Mountains, Bloodraven Hall stands majestic. Seemingly untouched by time the hall once served as the home of Islimore’s proudest clan, the Lechners. The warriors built the hall to serve a strategic stronghold, high on a cliff and surrounded by the two main rivers which run through Blackbrook itself, Leithrex and Cheryux. The stone structure is rumored to be impenetrable, and the keeper of secrets long lost to Islimore and those who called it home.

The hall itself is hewn from stone mined from the dense rock of the Abolese mountains which surround it. Timber from Bloodraven’s majestic trees serve as a feature throughout the grand lodging. Intricate detail is seen skillfully carved into both wood and stone alike. To the discerning eye the history and mystery of the castle is told in every sliver and crevice of Bloodraven Hall.

Blackwood Wood is one of the greatest wonders of Islimore. The trees of the forest stand almost as tall as the mountains which surround them, the base of many of them wider than the average home. A portion of the wood extends onto the property which was annexed by the Lechner clan to serve as private hunting grounds. Many young pups would often be led by an elder through their first change in the mysterious forest, often celebrated by their first hunt and kill as a wolf.

Main-Hall.gif

What castle would be complete without a grand hall? Bloodraven Hall opens into the main courtyard which serves as a gathering place for various occasions and functions. Many a Lechner and guest alike have found themselves feasting and drinking around its tables well into the early hours of the morning. A mezzanine overlooks the hall, leading to other various rooms and bed chambers. At the back of the hall a large wooden throne stands proud where the Alpha of Bloodraven Hall would often be seen overlooking and participating in the revelry of his Hall.

Even wolves need sleep. Nothing about the chambers boasted the comforts most humans would enjoy, or the lavish and expensive amenities of a wealthy culture. Spacious and comfortable, the bedchambers served their function and nothing more. A large bed to accommodate the size of most Lupo in their human form is centered along one of the walls in the room which contains space for a desk, a chair, a wardrobe for clothing, and a fireplace for warmth in the winter.

Training-Grounds.png

As a clan of warriors the Lechners spared nothing when building the training grounds. The same stone which was hewn from the Abolese Mountains lined the floor of the training ring to remind each warrior to be as immovable as the rock upon which they trained. A waterfall fell to one side at the base of the stone circle. Each warrior was to be as fluid and powerful as the water which flowed around them. Within the stone itself was carved the sigil of the Lechner clan, a stone wolf to remind them of the beast which stirred deep within.

Bloodraven Hall contains many secrets, but none more valuable than the vault it sits upon. Many of Islimore’s most treasured possessions are hidden within along with some of her darkest secrets. It can only be accessed by river and the door itself is locked with an elaborate mechanism which requires a key, the force, and Lechner blood.

Security.png

High

Bloodraven Hall is secured by nature itself. Virtually impenetrable, the Hall is situated at the top of a cliff, surrounded by water on all sides save on. The lone path to the hall leads through Bloodbrook Wood which is a maze of large trees which are act like a maze. Those who make it through the forest are left out along the wide open field which is so narrow that it creates a bottleneck for any army that would attempt to advance.

History.png

Atop the cliff where the river gods meet
Where leaf is green and honey is sweet
Just below the Abolse Mountains tall
Live the gods of Bloodraven Hall

Born of a different time and era, built by a clan of Lechners which respected the gods, Bloodraven Hall came into being. The Golden Age of Islimore had been at its height when the pack of warriors saw that they were no longer content to serve the kings, but rather become them. Their rivals, the Svard Clan had been near falling, but they could not mount an offensive without a place to call home.

The Abolese Mountains and Blackbrook Wood made the perfect sense. As warriors whatever structure they built needed to be easily defended, and what better defense than those of nature itself. Proud and in tune with the world around them, the strong wolves worked hard to complete the build in record time. The main structure was completed within nine months of starting, and the detail followed later.

Geralt Lechner would be the first to sit on the wooden throne as both Alpha and Anasi. His wisdom and foresight had given the clan precisely what they needed to step into the vacuum of power created with the fall of the Svard clan. Bloodraven Hall would serve as the seat of power on Islimore for several generations of Lechner Alphas.

Power was not absolute, and forces which none of the Lupo could have foreseen saw the Lechner clan fall as well. Knowing the world was changing, Bloodraven Hall was abandoned when the Sabathian clan came into power at the height of the Fayth’s message. By the time the purge on Islimore began, the Lechner clan had abandoned the planet entirely.

Their construction was good, and the location of the Hall secret. Bloodraven Hall still stands today and only one knows where to find it.

I love the images you picked for this. The banners are lovely, and make me want to go play Skyrim. The one thing I'd like to ask for is a description of the Security features. Security is high, but what does that look like? Guard patrols? Automated defenses? Slavering alien wolves? Mag-locked doors and high walls? A shield generator? Just in case this place ever ends up in danger, let's go ahead and spell out at least a little of what actually justifies that High security rating.
