When the Ashlan Military Order of the Sacred Blades formed as an organization, they grew rather quickly, and by the time they had 200 knights, had agreed that they needed to establish a proper, permanent base of operations. The structure that they built and fortified to carry out this role would eventually become known as Blade's Rest.
Finding a remote fishing town populated by locals and refugees, with a small starport and landing field a few miles away, they decided that this location would be perfect for their new home. Purchasing a small, nearby tidal island from one of the villagers, they hollowed out the Island's rock for use as an undercroft and vaults. Repurposing the reactor from a derelict warship and using a combination of both very simple and extremely advanced techniques, they created the complex, consisting of the "Chantry" made up of administrative, religious, and educational facilities, the Mid-Level Academy consisting of quarters and training facilities for Postulants and Free Squires, and "Blades' Rest Village," consisting of quarters for Knights, Guests, and other staff and families employed by but not a part of the order.
The extra activity has somewhat improved the economy of the nearby town, and while most staff are not locals, the community benefits not only from the boosting of traffic and trade in the area but also from the public services the Blades are required to provide, as well as from having the confidence that, should the forces of darkness threaten them, they'll always be able to rely on the protection provided by the knights and the sanctuary that Blade's Rest represents.
As the Blades grew, and took on more responsibilities, they were forced to move on from Blades' Rest to a new, larger facility in the Citadel of the Sacred Blades. This has not had much effect on the local economy, however, as Blades' Rest itself has been converted to become the primary academy for Postulants entering into the Blades' number, kept safe from any lingering dark influences on the scarred agriworld of Nathema and deep within the territory of the Crusade itself, where they are unlikely to see themselves thrust into battle.

- Accessibility: It's relatively easy to reach the main gates assuming you know where it is, though its relatively remote location makes it rather obscure, and the fact it is situated on a tidal island may require speeder transport.
- Description: Built on a Tidal Island across the bay from a remote town on Koboth, the medieval-style complex is where the Postulants of the Order of Blades receive instruction before becoming Squires. With more than enough room for the Postulants of the Order, as well as the Knights and Masters assigned to train them, as well as the hundred or so priests and support staff. The complex is powered by tidal generators further out in the sea, though within the mountain itself they've set up a scavenged capital ship reactor for their shields. The outer stone walls are defended by weaker rayshields during regular times, though the base also has a proper shield generator to protect it from a more serious attack. Ever since the move to the planet of Nathema, Blades' Rest has become an Academy and emergency redoubt for the Blades, allowing Postulants to be trained away from dangers and providing a sanctuary in case of disaster.
