Blackest Night (One Sith Dominion of Erida)

"What a smart young lady." He said, "I got here on a ship that is parked at landing platform outside. And I mean I knew you were coming and I was waiting for you. It's really that simple."

He looked around his black eyes taking in the area and the large echoing hall. He could hear the voices of the people that once stood here and walked these peaceful corridors.

"I just want a promise." he said, "That when the time comes and I send you a message to come visit me you'll come and in return I'll give you whatever you ask."

This world was strange as Seras had a small grin under her mask. She was here to help but also try to identify what was going on while her medical pad beeped. She scanned the building while walking and she opened her medical kit. The tools slightly larger as she slid a visor on. The scanners working to try and detect any life signs that weren't One Sith or vong. "Whatever happened here is..." Her mechanical breathing came out. "Strange, investigate." Her hand came up as she snapped bringing the attention to the team of medics for the One Sith... well her medics who worked the camps and reported interesting things. She laughed again seeing them spread out in their outfits while tapping her scalpel on her blast plate.

Something was off, Faye could feel it. She just couldn't pinpoint what it was. There was no reason to push the question, she knew that it would be a waste of time to try and figure out how he knew of her. She did not hold the fame, or maybe infamy, of a Zambrano, and she did not even possess a Darth title. What reputation proceeded her was only known within some of the Sith. Many within her own faction even did not take much value in her life, being little more than a bastard daughter of a spicer, fortunately stumbled upon by a Sith Lord.

A thought began to develop in the back of her mind. One that she refused to allow to develop, for fear that it would only anger her and act hostile to the man who posed no immediate there. The red hair... He knew her name... He wanted to meet again, could he be a relic of her unborn past? Bah. She ignored even the possible notion of relation. "Who are you?" She asked, focusing now on the crown adorned atop his head. Even royalty would abandon their dead kingdom. Wouldn't they?

Faye pondered the offer for a moment. She had drifted across Nar Shaddaa in her youth, purposeless. Even when found by the One Sith, she simply obeyed her Master's requests. She did not know what she wanted. Purpose? That would be a trivial desire. Credits, she took no interest in. Knowledge. Yes, perhaps knowledge was what she sought. Faye was still uncertain with even this idea. But the man knew her name. Perhaps, by some chance he knew what she desired, in some twisted, absurd way.

"Yea. Alright, I promise." She could make the time to visit the man again. A Sith's promise held very little meaning to many people, but it was a relic of morality that she maintained. So long as he came through with whatever his side of the agreement was, that is.

A silver light flashed across his black eyes and he smiled as she thought. His mind floating through the myriad possibilities of the myriad futures. She had thoughts questions that she wanted answers to. Didn't everyone share that, the desire to know? She asked who he was again but was she prepared for the answer? was she ready to face who and what he was? Did whozits care what whatzits did?

"I am Malkav the Red, last king of Erida." He said, "Name whatever you wish."

She stood in awe at the sight before her, her black coloured eyes darting back and forth on the ancient temple. From her vantage pointe, the temple had been delegated to nothing more than ruins, a shell of its former self. But what really elevated her excitement level was the potential for finding materials. She felt a sign of guilt for having to tear the building down but judging by its looks, she was doing the structure a favour. Cautiously she led her squad toward the building keeping her senses on high alert. There was something nagging at the back of her mind and for once it wasn't one of the five voices that had taken up residence in her head.

Once they reached the opening, after traversing across a bridge of stone that cracked underfoot, she sent two of her squad ahead to secure the first chamber. When the all clear was given, she entered the ruins and stood with her hands on her hips. There was two staircases leading to the second floor in different directions, while on the main floor there was four openings to explore. After ordering two troops to remain on guard in the main chamber, it was time to investigate and secure the four rooms first before heading up.

Two of the rooms produced nothing except for debris and several skeletons of small creatures. The third room produced some tomes written in a language she nor her troops could decipher. She gathered them up, placing them in a satchel. The fourth room turned out to be her jackpot, it was a small warehouse filled with several types of materials. She radioed back to the main camp requesting the Imperial engineers to bring ground transports to her location to gather the materials and begin deconstructing the ruins, then ordered two more troops to stand guard in this room.

All that left now was the upstairs.

"Sounds like the title was more prestigious a few years ago," Faye said, looking around the hollow throne room once more. At least he was honest with himself, The Last King. The teenager had no taste in fine art, but even she could tell by the architecture and city designs, it was once a stunning place to visit. A small, somber gust of wind swept through the doorway, gently tossing some of the dust on the marble away.

Her arms uncrossed as she placed her hands on her hips, "Can you see the future? Is that how you knew my name?" An obscure idea of how he knew, but an angle to push anyways. If that was true, having insight on her future would prove interesting. However vague it was, it would hold more merit than those claiming the same thing in the spice dens of the undercity of Coruscant.

While still greatly unnerved by the wound in the Force that was hovering in the system, it wasn't doing anything to anyone so she would be extremely cautious about her actions here. Turning most of her attention back to the viewport, she could see her ships were already unloading some drones to make safe paths through the asteroids and to begin constructing the shipyards once they were through.

The asteroid ring would provide a great deal of material for her shipyards and provide a natural protective barrier to any interlopers. Of course, that meant some pirates might have had the same idea. And speaking of which. . .

"Lady Arcanix, the forward ships are reporting Uglies are in the vincity of our work ships and seem to be moving to attack them," the commander of her forces here said hurriedly.

"Deploy our forces against these pirates, show them what it means to cross the Sith," she said simply.

"Yes, my Lady," the commander said, snapping a salute.

Taeli stood silently as Wrath starfighters deployed from the three Avarices and two of her Elytra frigates moved to engage.

The Baroness froze, her footstep barely completed as it pressed into the dust of the dead world. A tingle shot up her spine, and such a thing was not commonplace. There were very few things that made the Baroness worry, it was an occupational hazard of being a noble. One could never show a weakness or even the inkling that such a thing existed. This though, this feeling, it was wrong. Something was there, something that felt like it was empty. Her hand came up, lightly touching the Colonel's arm. For what ever reason she thought it was enough to protect him, or at the least give him a fighting chance with the information she was about to provide him.

As the other guards pushed forward, the Colonel stopped dead in his tracks. Those golden-yellow eyes of the Baroness peered into the semi-glowing views of the helmet. The worry showing on her face as she took a moment to compose herself. She was still new to the Dark Side, her powers having not been awakened for that long, and this feeling, it truly terrified her beyond words. With a quivering lip she braced herself against the Colonel, her hand brushing along her dress. Her own worry of what had arrived apparent enough that even her Nexu was crouched down, its quills standing up as it slowly prowled in a circle around the Colonel and its Mistress.

With a deep sigh and a heavy breath she managed to pull herself back together. Still though it was unsettling, her stomach churned and flipped as if butterflies had made a nest within. Trying not to allow the others to see her in such a state, she forced herself back to composer. Nodding softly as she looked to the Colonel whom was still doing his duty and keeping an eye on the Baroness.

"Have the shuttle on standby. There is something here that is a danger to us, though I am unsure if it is hostile. I would rather not take the chance of not being able to leave when possible."

Her voice was barely above a whisper, causing the Colonel to lean in to hear the instruction. Without a single word in return, only a mere nod of his head he gave the command. Her private shuttle was to remain prepared and ready for immediate flight upon his or the Baroness order to swiftly take her to safety.

"Thank you my old friend. You've always been there."

The Baroness allowed a softer side to show, though at that moment there were few that would even notice. Most of the Fenrir Guard was moving through the village, while the others were securing the main entrances and exits to the village itself. Worker droids, primarily Binary Load Lifters were being moved about as prefabricated sections of walls and gates were being put in place.

After some deliberation, she decided to take the staircase on the left as the means to reach the second level of the ruins. Looking down the long hallway, that ended with the connection to the other staircase, she spied only two rooms; one on the left and one on the right. And again, she felt that nagging pull in her mind. There was definitely something up here but her senses seemed to be muddled as if there was some sort of Force jamming device in place. "Pay attention, young Sith. We all can feel that eerie unsettling nag in our mind. Our advice, proceed with caution," the voice of Darth Portia, the Cathar Sith Lord, brushing against Darth Venefica's mind. Her hand slid down to the hilt dangling from her right hip, and enclosed her fingers around it. Behind her she heard her troops shifting, preparing themselves as well.

She stood in front of the door on the left side and as she moved to open it, the door behind them opened up and something with black claws reached out, gripped one of the troopers, and dragged him into the room. In unison, everyone swung around as the screams of the trooper rang out, followed by the sounds of ripping and tearing. Before they could move to the inside of the room and deal with whatever that thing was, the door on the left, now behind them, opened up but Darth Venefica swung around quickly and stood face to face with an abomination. The thing had red eyes, black and sharp claws, razor sharp teeth that dripped with a hungry saliva, and was made up of twisted and rotted flesh.

Her lightsaber jumped into action in time to sever the right hand of the monstrosity as it reached to embrace her. The thing roared back howling in pain, then was slammed backwards by the Sith Knight when she Force Pushed it away, granting a measure of distance between her and it. The troops standing behind her began to open fire into the opposite room, which gave her the opportunity to deal with the creature she shoved back one on one. Her crimson blade twirled twice as she first stepped into the room then into her Makashi form, the only thing she could think to do since she was facing something that she or the galaxy have never seen before.

The disfigured creature recovered and charged toward her, its ruined arm laying limp to the side and its mouth and left hand ready to redistribute the pain back to her. Again she used the Force, picking up the beast, barely, and hurled it into a wall on the right. Like a Dagobah python striking with blinding speed to catch its meal, she unleashed three precise and controlled slashes, killing the beast. The blaster fire behind her had stopped at some pointe and she heard one of the troops give the all clear from their room.

Darth Venefica stared at the dead creature and it was then she realized that whatever this horror was now, it was once human before the transformation.

His black eyes rose to the crown atop his head and he nodded. He turned away from the woman and looked at the empty room.

"You should have seen it." He said as he began using the forcevto produce the illusion of people filling the hall and going about various task. "The people, the music and dancing. He looked around as the illusion grew, "the sights sounds and smells of luxury."

He stepped back toward the young woman that looked so much like his daughter from so very long ago. His black eyes met the girl's.

"Now you haven't answered my question." he said a look of curiosity on his face, "Name your price for your promise."

The teenager was caught off guard by the sudden change of environment. The liveliness was not at the level of Antecedent or Nar Shaddaa, but it was certainly bustling. One of the illusions walked by, nearly brushing shoulders with her, and she went to reach out, before coming to her senses. It was not real. If she went to touch one, certainly her hand would fall right through the air. Faye sighed, making eye contact with the black eyes once more.

She kept eye contact with him, saying a more appropriate answer, something that the King probably was more expecting. "Power." Faye was still uncertain of this idea, she did not crave power in the same way many of the other Sith did. The girl was more interested in impressing her Master, who was an excellent swordsman, if not one of the best in the One Sith. By power, she was not too interested in ruling over others, but rather ruling over herself. "But how can you assure such abstract things?"

The engineers had arrived with several transports and some slaves to begin ushering out the materials from the warehouse. Then they went to work on the ruins themselves, pulling it apart piece by piece, loading what salvaged pieces that remained. The Knight double checked the surrounding area in hopes of discovering something about those abominations but nothing panned out. She did, however, have those tomes in her satchel and maybe the answered lied with them. With nothing more to be gained here, she left the cave behind.

Upon her return to the main camp, she ordered the slaves to categorize all the materials while she set out to find a suitable place for the temple. She examined the sites marked by the engineers but neither of them seemed to call to her. She wanted a place that could have some defensive capabilities in case the planet was invaded. As she turned to head back to camp, after the last site proved unworthy, she noticed a cluster of mountains and a great lake. She walked the short distance to the area and was immensely pleased with the discovery. This would be the site.

"The first thing we need to construct is a bridge across the lake," she said addressing the engineers. "One lone single bridge whose dual purpose will be the only way in...and the only way out from the ground. Once the bridge is complete, we will begin clearing the land inside the three mountains."
