Greyman's Planet was an oddity in the Outer Rim. It was industrialized, and vastly so. Most than many of the backwater holes that Sol frequented while keeping his corner of the galaxy free of scum. That presented an environment less open than what he was typically used to. Urban jungle, tight rounded corridors, slick evening rain...

It made a successful hunt all the more thrilling.

The man he was after was just the kind of hunt he savored. Exhausting every option, he was backed into a corner and getting desperate. Corga Frisk was his name, Balosar from the Mid Rim. He was scraggly, unkempt, and most importantly to Sol a dirty slaver. His adherence to the Farworlds Alliance doctrine made it clear how to handle a man like this. As the man huddled in desperation the neon backlighting of the city illuminated the silhouette of the Mandalorian Ranger as he stood in the mouth of the alleyway. His t-visor was all that could be discerned, glowing with a blue visage.

"P-please!" the man stammered out, desperately trying to find something on him to bargain with. "Y-you like money, don't you Mando?! I-I can pay you! W-way more than my bounty is worth!"

"Not a Bounty Hunter," a cold voice answered, filtered through his helmet. "Brought your filth into my territory... begging won't do you any good."

Before Frisk could even let out another plea, Alias Sol drew his mighty Hand Cannon with lightning speed. It only took one stun round fired from the hip. The Warden was brutal and efficient, but he was a man of the law. Corga Frisk was to be taken back to the Alliance to stand trial. The Mandalorian hit a pager button on his vambrace, and before long a vessel that had been lingering nearby drifted down from above, landing in the clearing just outside of the alleyway. Sol scooped up his target with ease and shuffled over to the ship before he placed them securely into the prisoner pod aboard. Then he simply let the vessel depart again, waiting in the wings once more for him to call.

He wasn't quite ready to leave just yet.

Once more, the Warden trudged through the rain-slicked streets of Greyman's Planet, all until he found himself staring down the neon sign of a small dive bar: the Twisted Lek. For a moment his visor lingered on the worn out frame of the door...

Then he moved to enter.

Work never ended, and frankly, she would have it no other way. What the shab else was she going to do? They had received intelligence that the very same group of slavers that they had fought against during their time with the Rimward Trade League had reared their ugly heads in space close to their new venture. Slavery was outlawed in the Farworlds Alliance. Which made it doubly more abhorrent that this group was here.

So naturally they had began to go to work to clear these shabuir out. The intelligence they had received was that a Ranger had tracked down one of the shabuir to Greyman's Planet. Great, now they just had to track down this Ranger, right? Fortunately, that was easier than no, since the ship registered to him was parked in an alleyway near a cantina. "So they guy we're after's in the prisoner pod, right?" she asked Ran as she looked around.

"Best I can tell, 'lek," responded Ran from beside the ship. Ii was a LES-02 Tra Oya'karur-class Light Enforcement Ship. Good ship, she had one herself. Yes, she was thinking about an upgrade, but nothing was catching her eye yet. That of curse was not due to any real shortcomings on the ship's part, she had no complaints other than it had no built-in living quarters.

"Well, Heat Detector says someone came this way, ship's warm, someone got off very recently," observed Virean over comms, knelt next to the ship's engine. Saram could only tell from the outline superimposed on her HUD, telling her he was there. As was the case with the others. The ship being warm with engines like those meant they were used very recently. She didn't pretend to know how they worked, just what they did.

"Alright, disperse, I'll go inside," said Saram as she put her rifle on her rear magnetic strip.

"Stay here?" questioned Viraen. "Why, alor?"

"Because a squad of Mandalorian rammikade might make people too scared to talk," she sighed in response as she began entering the establishment. She heard Viraen's sigh of resignation over the comms as a response to her statement as she entered.

The cantina was everything she expected an establishment with its name to be. It didn't take too long for Saram to find their Ranger vod at the bar. "Whyrren's, small, I'm working," she said as she walked over to the bar. "That's some tidy work out there," she said without turning to face Alias Sol Alias Sol . "Al'verde Kote, Strill Securities, we dealt with these shabuire a while ago, figured we'd work faster together."

Sol entered the establishment with a composed silence about him. He sat himself down at the bar and slid credit across to the bartender. He knew his drink from before, a simple shot of fury. He watched the bartender closely from behind his visor. A shake of the hands, slight twitches of agitation... all signs that added up to exactly what he was looking for. The bar itself, for it's immaculate neon sign, was dingy and sparsely populated. It was filled with various stages meant for entertainers, but now wasn't even populated by even half-forsaken juke boxes. The clientele were just locals in for a fix. Even so, there was a strange abundance of security staff.

Something that the Warden had noted earlier.

"That's some tidy work out there,"

"Al'verde Kote, Strill Securities, we dealt with these shabuire a while ago, figured we'd work faster together."

"Aru'elane. Gayiyla," he stated before he lifted up his helmet just enough to enjoy his shot. "Tsikador"

Below his helm the man seemed to have silver skin, and an angular chin covered in scruff. His shot was quickly downed before he let out an exhale. He didn't spare a glance to his newly-acquainted vod, instead lowering his helmet back down and keeping it fixed on the bartender.

"Found the Balosar," he expressed. "Thanks for the tip. Just got to ask for documentation purposes... where'd you get the info?"

There was a moment of silence between him and the bartender, a bald human man with a scruffy ginger beard. The two men stared each other down for a moment before the man behind the counter rapidly drew his blaster. In an instant, Sol had risen and drew Rectifier and had it aimed on the man's head.

"N-nosey bastard!" the bartender hissed. "Don't care none about your skills... one word and my men tear you to pieces. And your friend if she don't know what's good for her."

"This man tipped me off to the location of the target," Sol calmly explained to Saram. "It seemed to good of a lead to be a simple rumor. Sold out one of their own to try and avoid any heat."

He casually rotated a dial on the side of his slug thrower to set it into one of the other modes of fire.

"Only giving one opportunity for you all to stand down."

"Go to h-"

And with very little hesitation, Sol fired a disruptor round into the man and reduced him to atoms. He already had the individual he needed to extract info from.

They could afford some collateral.

The rest of the bar very quickly sprang to life. Twelve or so men were quick to draw their weapons and wasted no time opening fire.

"Aru'elane. Gayiyla," he stated before he lifted up his helmet just enough to enjoy his shot. "Tsikador"

Ah. Shab. Pity, for them that was. "suvar," she whispered in her buy'ce mic, raising Alias Sol Alias Sol over short-range buy'ce-to-buy'ce comms. Saram quickly began acquiring targeting solutions for the more obviously armed individuals in the bar. Her AMR would be far too large in close quarters like this, that left her BR-6B. Against targets like these, she didn't exactly need her AMR.

"Found the Balosar," he expressed. "Thanks for the tip. Just got to ask for documentation purposes... where'd you get the info?"

"Gar cuy morutar. We've dealt with these shabuire before," she clarified. "Just found some things a little too convenient is all, apparently they couldn't take a hint and stay dead." She doubted he would be satisfied with that one, but given what they now both knew, this was neither the time nor the place for any more detail. That time would come later, then she would explain,

"N-nosey bastard!" the bartender hissed. "Don't care none about your skills... one word and my men tear you to pieces. And your friend if she don't know what's good for her."

"Rude," Saram started, her words dripping with faux offense. "We've only just met." Saram blink clicked her holster's HUD rapid ejection controls, as well as the magnetic retention functions in her gloves. Her sidearm shot into her hand from where it sat perched on her high. She immediately selected one of the targeting solution she'd selected earlier and levelled her weapon as her compatriot had his.

"This man tipped me off to the location of the target," Sol calmly explained to Saram. "It seemed to good of a lead to be a simple rumor. Sold out one of their own to try and avoid any heat."

"Don't tell me you expect better from these shabuire," she said with a smirk under her buy'ce. "Shabuire like these would cell their own buire if they thought that meant they'd slip away." She glanced at the stim controls on her HUD, bringing them into focus. She was fast, and with her cybernetics she was faster, but out numbered like this you needed every advantage you could get.

"Only giving one opportunity for you all to stand down."

That was it, that was her cue. She blink clicked the injector's activator, dosing her with a dose of Echani battle stimulant. Saram threw herself over the bar about the same time as the corpse of the bartender did. Her handgun snapped up over the bar, she saw fine thanks to the picture-in-picture feed from its optic and her beskar'gam's systems she saw them fine. The weapon bucked in her hands as two guided HEIAP rounds detonated on and forced depleted baradium penetrators through their targets.

That left at least ten. Should she use her advantageous positioning to call for backup? Haran no, this was her fun to have. They could come help pick up the pieces if it all went to haran. She shifted her position to the right slightly as return fire punched through the bar, grazing her shields as she made herself as small a target as was possible.

Annoyed, she stood to her feet, saw a cluster of three o them behind an overturned table and hit the table with her tractor-pressor beam projector on pressor mode. It smacked into the unfortunates, probably breaking a few bones, but she wasn't done there. With the other hand she fired off a pair of nano missiles at each. The tiny missiles homed in on their targets easily enough, depleted baradium penetrators punching through enough of armor that their baradium payloads didn't have to work too hard.

"This part of your plan?" she asked over short range buy'ce-to-buy'ce laser comms, trying to keep her excitement out of the tone she used.

Sol didn't dive for cover like Saram did. Instead he calmly activated the personal energy shield on his vambrace and blocked a few of the incoming rounds of blaster fire as he calmly changed the mode of fire on the Rectifier. He watched as five were quickly dispersed with brutal efficiency. Two down to a pistol, three down to missiles after being hit by a tractor beam projector. By now all the civilians were in cover, and the facility was owned by criminals.

Collateral damage wasn't a big issue.

"This part of your plan?"

"Was hoping to talk things out," he admitted. "Or'dinii was too jumpy for his own good."

His HUD would lock onto the seven remaining targets, all behind some kind of cover. Tables they had knocked over mostly, strewn about the establishment. Sol, of course, cared very little. He raised his hand cannon with a swift hand and began to fire off slugs rapid-fire. Unlike the disruptor rounds, these shots produced little noise. The effect, of course, was catastrophic. The tables that stood between the guards of the establishment and their adversaries were all but reduced to splinters under the impact of verpine-shatter technology. A trained marksman, Alias fired exclusively from the hip.

Seven slugs would rip through seven remaining thugs, sending viscera flying about the establishment along with the splinters from the tables. As the shrapnel all began to settle, Sol finally spoke again.

"Plan now is that we have one target secure for interrogation, any others secured is a bonus," he stated. "I suspect that this facility is part of the trafficking operation, may have captives here. You said you've handled these individuals before? Perhaps you know what to look for-"

A pained groan cut Sol off. A slumped guard dragged himself over to the wall and laid against the wall. He had been rather fortunate, it seemed, only losing a hand. Unlike the rest of his companions. Entirely shell-shocked at that, which the Warden seemed to have very little concern about. He simply calmly holstered his gun and drew a stim from his belt.

"It seems we'll also have a guide," Sol observed. "Fortunate."

Sol walked over and used the stim on the man to stabilize him. The terrified thug offered no resistance, seemingly to petrified to speak.

"Tell me about the last time you encountered these individuals," he requested of his vod.

"Was hoping to talk things out," he admitted. "Or'dinii was too jumpy for his own good."

"Well, osik, we'll have to play this one by ear then," she said, watching him go to work a moment later. She let out a low whislte, "Har'chaak, that's impressive. You ever want a job," she started, leaving the rest unsaid. A Disruptor slug firing Verp revolver, that was...impressive. Not her style, but very kandosii. She'd have to ask about whether it was a custom job or not later. She hadn't seen much like on the market.

"Nothing special, unless they've figured out how to deal with Mandalorians yet. They like their big guns, not enough, usually," she replied, thinking on what they'd run into so far dealing with these slavers and what they dealt with during their joint operation with the RTL. They'd deployed via drop pod during the assault and still the slavers hadn't been able to cause any casualties. Fighting trained and well-equipped combatants was not like preying on the innocent.

"It seems we'll also have a guide," Sol observed. "Fortunate."

Her HUD picked up the one-handed guard limping away as the only other life sign in the room with them. She holstered her sidearm and drew her Verpinme Shatter Battle Rifle. "He's going to be wishing he got hit somewhere a little more critical in a moment," said Saram as she walked over and pinned him in place with a boot to his chest. She blink toggled the shock boot function on and off before she added, "Talk, I'm feeling merciful. My friend here has an itchy trigger finger."

"Tell me about the last time you encountered these individuals," he requested of his vod.

"Nothing special, the worst we ever dealt with was one of their headquarters facilities," she started, glancing back at the injured guard. "No stealth detection and few big guns. My kind of di'kute," she said, snorting in derision at the end. Whether that was derision of their career choice or their lack of preparedness was something she left vague, though if she was being honest, it was both. There were few things she hated more than shabuire who preyed on weak who were had no real martial prowess themselves.

"Har'chaak, that's impressive. You ever want a job,"

"Staabi," the Warden acknowledged.

An offer he probably wouldn't ever wind up taking up, admittedly. He wasn't one for large business operations. Too many people tended to complicate things....

He preferred to go alone.

The shock brought the man very quickly out of his daze, letting out a howl of pain for a moment before he reached to clutch onto his handless arm.

"I-I can talk!" the man insisted. "Y-you're here for slaves! Th-the brig is in the basement! S-staircase is below the counter. F-floor plan of the building is in a shelf behind the bar! I... p-please don't kill me..."

"Laandur'shya ut," Sol muttered under his breath, the man turning to move back over to the counter.

He listened intently as Saram recalled her previous experiences. Big guns were just tools. Their power lie in the hands that wielded them. Lucky for them, these individuals seemed to be quite low in the evolutionary food chain. The first thing he did was reach behind the counter and find the floor plan. He jacked it into the port on the back of his helmet before projecting the data for Saram to see...

iIWjdAa.png

"Explain," the Mandalorian ordered of their captive.

"Ch-checkpoint is just a guarded wall!" the man answered quickly, his voice cracking. "J-just patrolled by two people for either door. Beastiary is the, uh... w-we took up a smuggling job for someone looking to source Rathtar, two juveniles. A-and a Rancor Egg. Store one is the armory, a-and two is for credits. Th-the slaves are in the Brig-"

Sol raised his hand to signal for the man to stop talking. He had explained enough, he didn't need to listen to rambling forever. The ranger ran his hands over the counter and felt around for hinges. Nothing. Instead it felt like the stone was free floating.

With some effort, Sol threw the stone off and sent it sliding over the side of the counter to the floor. It was large enough to remain undamaged. What remained was a trap door hatch, only visible from behind the counter. A bit janky, but discrete if someone had no idea where to look.

"We'll need a transport for the civilians," he stated, more just to put the idea out there. "Two hostiles should be... manageable. If that's all there is..."

"Th-that's all! I swear!"

Sol didn't snap back, instead silently opening the trap door hatch. The sound of it thudding against the floor briefly echoed through the establishment. Once more Sol drew his gun.

"Ni akaan'uliik," he stated. " Gar hukaati ni shebs ti kama."

Then he proceeded down.

"Mir'dala," she said, more to Alias Sol Alias Sol than to the guard they were interrogating. "That depends on how useful you can be," she added to the guard to remind him that neither of them were in a mood to be messed around with. She was certainly going to shoot him if she thought he was going to try something.

"Ch-checkpoint is just a guarded wall!" the man answered quickly, his voice cracking. "J-just patrolled by two people for either door. "They had more when we dealt with them," she said without turning her head, using her armor's systems to verify that he was telling the truth. "What happened, chaakar recruiting fall on hard times? Not too many people signing up to be slaver scum?" Frankly, she didn't care about the answer, she was being entirely rhetorical with her questioning. Two or twenty, it didn't matter, not to her anyway.

"We'll need a transport for the civilians," he stated, more just to put the idea out there. "Two hostiles should be... manageable. If that's all there is..."

"Th-that's all! I swear!"

"If you're lying I'll finish the job when I come back up here," she said to the guard. "I've got one," she then added, this time over short range buy'ce-to-buy'ce laser comms. Not that this shabuire could do anything about that, now or even before, but opsec was still opsec. "Davaaab 6 to Galaar 1-1, requesting ru'cuy'viinir for neverde. Found the slaves, we'll be extracting them."

"Suvar, sending you LZ nav marker now," said Rav without missing a beat. A moment later, the nav marker did indeed show up on her HUD. Saram glanced at where it was. Roof a nearby building. That was fine, made sense too. Rav probably couldn't find the space to put down elsewhere.

"Vor'e, vod," she replied quickly before raising her squad. "I'm going to need you to assist with moving the civilians to the roof," she added, getting an acknowledgement signal from the others.

"No need to thank me, vod, it is only what I get paid for," retuned Rav without missing a beat.

Saram let out a chuckle and an acknowledgement signal in response. She then got Alias Sol Alias Sol back on laser comms again and added, "Transport and assistance getting them on board secured, just have to finish them job, now." She quickly sent him the nav marker's location as well.

"Ni akaan'uliik," he stated. " Gar hukaati ni shebs ti kama."

"Pakod," she said as she took up a covering position behind him. As they neared the checkpoint, Saram's beskar'gam and weapon optic's detection, targeting and tracking suites easily picked out the two hostiles. Saram swapped to her AMR as an idea hit her. She snapped the rifle up and put a pair of rounds through the wall, one per target. The massive Verp HEIAP rounds didn't leave much of their targets behind despite the fact that they hadn't entirely cheaped out on armor.

"Faster than the oold fashioned way," she pointed out, shrugging.

"Faster than the oold fashioned way,"

Sol nodded in acknowledgement as he scanned the environment. The two guards stationed at the way point were little more than paste now, so what else did they have to fear?

"Hard times indeed," the man echoed as he paced his way cautiously through the space.

He walked past the viscera of the guards and stepped through to move further down the hall. At that point, a loud clatter was heard as the mighty Rathtar that the criminals had been transporting slammed against the glasteel pains holding them within their cell. The beasts were humongous, easily the size of Sol's helmet.

Juveniles, just like had been stated. They were hardly a threat.

"The utreekov up there mentioned a Rancor egg in there," he recalled. "It should be retrieved... they are intelligent beasts."

He spoke with a level of reverence, as was expected. After all, they were descendant of beast riders. It was in his nature to respect the intelligence and grandeur of such a fine creature.

Sol moved to the cell block and raised his hand cannon, firing a disruptor round into the lock to effectively blow it open. The door swung open with enough force that when it swung back it all but fell off of the hinges. The room itself was dark, but various smaller cells could be seen within. After a moment, there was movement. First slow, then rapidly approaching.

Five individuals ran out. A twi'lek mother, red skinned and holding a baby boy. A pair of themian sisters. Last to emerge was a gruff male wookiee with streeks of grey in his fur. His arms were coated in blood, and the eyes of all of them were shell shocked.

"What happened?" Sol requested, getting straight to business.

"S-some of us got injected with... I-it changed them..." one of the themians stammered out, pointing into the cell.

At first, the only sound that emerged from the cell was a strange clicking. Then it became a low droning hiss. Slowly after that, a horde of pale creatures began to slink out of the darkness.

"The utreekov up there mentioned a Rancor egg in there," he recalled. "It should be retrieved... they are intelligent beasts."

Saram cocked her head to the side in question, a common gesture especially among the clans of Breshig to show confusion while wearing beskar'gam. "I get the no needless suffering, but Rancors? I'm not exactly going to shed a tear if that thing's hatched already and its us, the civillians, and it." She didn't know what the gestation period of a Rancor was, though she very much doubted it was very short. Still, the sentiment stood.

"I really don't like the sound of that," she said once the Twi'lek had finished speaking. "Nothing good ever starts like that." The sound instantly caught her attention. Time seemed to slow as her enhanced reflexes kicked in. Everything in her trained instincts told her that whatever made that sound was not natural. The old CIS archives contained enough information on this beast for her long-range life form scanner to know what that was.

A shabla Rakhghoul, here? What the shab even was going on here. She blink clicked her way hurridly through her HUD's medical interface, finding the controls for the vaccine injectors fractions of a second later. She quickly blink clicked the controls for the Rakhghoul Serum. At least for the moment, she would be safe. "Don't let that thing touch you!" she barked, perhaps unnecessarily, but she did so nonetheless.

Her rifle hit the floor with a thud as she raised both arms and fired both gauntlet-vambrace-mounted weapons. On her right, she fired her tractor-pressor beam projector at it in pressor beam mode, hoping to keep it away. The other had a Plasma Caster mounted on it, unleashing a searing hot, flesh and metal melting cone of plasma at the creature. With any luck, that would be enough to cripple the beast if not kill it.

Sol got the picture very quickly. He would ready his own plasma caster, though his was particularly unique. It hummed to life as small jets of fire emerged from the slots between the armor plating on his left arm. As he raised it, a jet of searing flame spilled out in a concentrated beam that sliced apart any creature it came into contact with. It also, clearly, caused damage to the wall of the back of the cell. Between the weapons of both Mandalorians, the creatures were very easily felled. Quickly and efficiently.

When Sol's caster was finished the metal plating of his arm was red hot in some areas, and cooling vents immediately began to reroute power to bringing the temperature down.

"Rakghoul," the man hissed. He quickly turned to the surviving slaves. "Did one bite any of you?"

There was a moment of hesitation, but then one of the themians stepped forward. She pulled up her tattered sleeve to reveal a fresh bite wound, still oozing plasma.

"I... you... aren't gonna kill me, are you?" she asked, clearly understanding that those infected became the very creatures that attacked them in the first place.

"We will attempt to get you the antibody first," Sol answered very quickly, his tone not betraying any emotion. "Transports are inbound now."

"Rakghoul," the man hissed.

That was not a word she was looking forward to hearing in her life ever again, yet she constantly did. "Shab's sake, here I was hoping there were none of those left," she said out loud. She knew that was hardly realistic, but a girl could hope couldn't she? Great, now the only way this could be worse is if one of the survivors was infected.

She pulled up her tattered sleeve to reveal a fresh bite wound, still oozing plasma.

And then that turned out of be just the case they were going to have to deal with. "That, doesn't look good," she said over buy'ce-to-buy'cel short wave comms. "We're going to have to move quickly," she added, a tad unnecessarily on hindsight, but what the haran, no one was perfect. "5, we're coming up to you now," she sent over frequency hopping, encrypted squad comms to Ran.

"Suvar," chimed back Ran. Saram brought up the 'rear' of their 'formation', urging the frightened erstwhile slaves along with a gentle hand, also making sure that nothing nasty was following them. She was tempted to spend the remainder of her plasma caster's fuel cannister burning this place down, but Alias wanted to save that Rancor. He was probably going to double back if she had the right measure of him.

The sudden increase in relative light level from them the surface would have been blinding to her had it not been for her buy'ce. The commandos of Davaab were quick and efficient, helping one of the former slaves each as they jetted onto the top of the building that their gunship had landed on, urging them into its medbay. In short order, they had all been given the cure thanks in no small part to the medbay's automated systems.

The medbay's systems then went about treating them for their condition. "When they're ready to eat again, given them food, make up the troop bay. Offer them what clothes we do have," she ordered, looking at the poor survivors carefully as they received their medical treatment. Ran, who was doing the same, flashed an acknowledgement signal back, and said nothing as he went about his orders. "Alright then, we've got them out. What now?" she asked Alias Sol Alias Sol over comms, trying to ascertain their next moves.

"Alright then, we've got them out. What now?"

"I still have one of the slavers in my hold," Sol noted. "He should be returned to our space and tried. But, I suppose he is secure in my vessel..."

Now that the slaves were secure and ready to be taken to Refuge, Sol's helmet wandered back towards the club. The air still stank of burning flesh, whatever remained of the Rakghouls that continued to burn after they were rendered slag by the concentrated fire of plasma casters. He had already stated his desire to retrieve the Rancor egg before. It would be very un-Mandalorian of him to leave it behind. They were, after all, beast riders. Such a creature shouldn't be left to rot unhatched in a place like this.

His mind was quite made up.

"I intend to retrieve the egg," he stated. "As for the two juvenile Rathtar's, for their sake I hope that juvenile means small."

He'd not seek to kill them unless they were a threat. Regardless, the Warden turned and began his approach back towards the cellar, leaving it up to Saram if she chose to follow along or not.

"I intend to retrieve the egg," he stated. "As for the two juvenile Rathtar's, for their sake I hope that juvenile means small."

"Well," she said glancing back at the recently liberated slaves. "They're safe, so why the shab not?" she asked as she shifted the grip on her rifle. "But you're carrying that thing out." She turned back to Ran and the others and added over comms, "Hold things here, I'll be back before you know it. If I'm not, don't shabla wait till I'm screaming for help over the comms before you provide some shabla backup:?"

This elicited laughter from the assembled members of Davaab squad. "Alor, please, give us some credit. Of course we'll wait till after it all goes to haran to save your shebs," replied Anila, Davaab's deadpan demolitions specialist. This of course, elicited more laughter.

"Not funny," replied Saram, a tinge of annoyance in her voice. "That's going in the shabla report." Saram delivered her warning with faux anger, and they absolutely knew it. They hadn't spent the better part of the last decade and a half still with a job by misjudging her sense of humor. They knew the lines they could cross better than the ones on their hands.

"Alor, with all due respect, it was a little funny," responded Ran. "But your worry about it all going to haran, we'll worry about pulling your shebs out of the fire."

"What will I do with you, Ran?" she asked as she cycled the airlock and stepped down the ramp toward the edge of the roof. "Then again, what the shab would I do without you lot of di'kute?"

"Die of boredom?" tried Anila, completely deadpan as per her usual delivery.

"Retire in shabla peace," corrected Saram even thought both she and they knew she had no intention of ever doing that. She leapt off the side of the building, slowed by invisible wings of fire. She held position by the door, waiting for Alias Sol Alias Sol to make the first move. "Ni cuy hukaat'kama!," she added, not that she thought he needed the further encouragement.
