Private Bigger than Us

With her husband just having been promoted again, they had started to spend a little more time on Kashyyyk. This really did not surprise Ra at all and it was a nice change to return to the world of trees and Wookiees. Since she did not have any business trips planned for the near future, she joined him this time. While he was off doing whatever a Grandmaster did, she headed to the practice area of the Rest.

It had been a VERY long time since she had seen any action on the field and even longer since she had practiced. When she arrived, she did a few stretches and selected a couple of weapons. At the moment, she was alone...which she found a little surprising. Maybe the Initiates and Padawans were in other classes and not able to be present yet.

Finally feeling comfortable, she started going through some may be odd-looking katas. She had never been formally trained in how to use a lightsaber and went off her intuition. It had rarely failed her and she was best known to be a physical combatant.

Something might be noticed about her if anybody were watching. She did not make any verbal noises as she went through her motions. Coming to what she felt was a finishing move, she let her arms fall to her sides and gave the empty air a bow.

And then she felt it. Somebody was either already watching her or was close to arriving. Drawing in a breath, she considered hiding but thought better of it. She had every right to be here. Walking to where her belongings were, she leaned forward to pick up the water she had brought with her. Taking the drink, she set it back down and turned to face whoever had entered.

Beltran had entered the training area just as Ra'a'mah Ra'a'mah was finishing one of her self-taught katas. It had been years since he had seen or spoken to the woman. All the way back to the battle of Mykyr he thought. Not the one that had been lost to the Sith, before that even, when it had just been pirates and slavers that they were taking down. He'd been a Specialist then, operating as a kind of contractor for the Rangers. It had been his first taste of leadership under fire, when his former mentor and friend, the then Commander @Valkren Calderone had given him a squad to lead.

The battle had seen Beltran take a blaster bolt to the shoulder, a wound that still twinged a little on rainy days. But it had been a victory, and it had awaked in Beltran a desire to lead. That desire had led to his commission to officer, a Lieutenant at first and now a Captain. It had been a formative moment in the Lorrdian's life, where he had made the choice to turn from the path of cold-blooded mercenary to a warrior with a cause.

As the red-haired woman finished her work-out, Beltran had to admit that she had a very unique style. He could feel her intuitive presence within the Force and it was powerful.

"Madam Riamah," He said as she turned to face him, inclining his head with respect. "It has been some time, perhaps you do not remember me. Beltran Rarr of the Antarian Rangers, Captain of Paladin Company now with the 5th Special Operations Group."

Beltran wore a black tank top which showed his powerfully muscular arms with various scars he'd earned, cybernetic implants that still remained a mystery to him, and faded gang tattoos that harkened back to a much different time in his life. Were it not for the blue-black BDU pants and combat boots he wore, he might look more like a thug than a soldier.

He ran through some combos of his own, stretching and flowing into various strikes and kicks. He incorporated the sudden and brutal strikes of Master Caltin Vanagor Caltin Vanagor 's "Broken Gate" style with more traditionally flowing movements of Echani Martial Arts and footwork unique to the first form of Lightsaber Combat, Schii-Cho.

With his body warmed up, he pulled his lightsaber from his belt and made for the rack where the training remotes were kept before stopping. Turning back, he cocked his head to the side and spoke once more. "Perhaps you'd care for a duel? You have an interesting style of fighting. I'd like to see what it can do."

Ra'a'mah Ra'a'mah

There was a tenseness within Ra that went away she realized she actually knew the other person. It was a man she had encountered twice now. Once out on a field of battle when they were fighting slavers and once before that when the Metal Lords controlled Denon. That went back to long before she had ever met Josh or was a member of the Silvers. Those were the days when she was a Sith secretly working with various light-sided governments for business purposes. Back then, she called herself Sith but she had never been a very good one. Eventually, she had turned her back on those days and now worked with the Silvers and was married to one of their Grand Masters.

"Mister Rarr, it has been quite a few years. How has your business venture been?"

He had only brought up their meeting on Myrkr and not the one Denon. Maybe he had even forgotten about that brief meeting. Wiping her hands off on the towel she had brought with her, she held one of them out to him to shake if he wanted.

Raising an eyebrow, when Beltran asked if she wanted to duel, she nodded.

"Yours looks just as interesting. Do you wish to include weapons or will this entirely be hand to hand?"

No matter which he answered, she would accept and stretch a little bit more in preparation for a real workout.
