PRODUCTION INFORMATION
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
STANDARD FEATURES
  • The Bellicose-class comes fully equipped with the whole standard array of shields, systems and components that are normally associated with vessels of its class.
ADVANCED SYSTEMS
STRENGTHS
  • Because the Bellicose is designed around distributed power systems, sensor scattering hull geometry, and radiation absorption materials that dramatically reduce its detection signature it has extremely low visibility.
  • Designed from the ground up to host experimental weaponry, the Bellicose can transition between precision strike, electronic warfare, hunter-killer interdiction, or experimental weapons testing roles without requiring major shipyard refits.
  • Bellicose cruisers are built to operate alone for extended deployments lasting several years, making it ideal for deep sector patrol, shadow surveillance of enemy fleets, and covert elimination of high value targets.
WEAKNESSES
  • The Bellicose not only lacks the communication arrays, command staff and hangar scale necessary to effectively serve as a fleet flagship but also was designed from the ground up to operate alone making fleet integration incredibly awkward.
  • The experimental technologies, modular weapon infrastructure, and stealth material layering require highly specialized crews and constant calibration.
  • The Bellicose does not possess the hangar volume or flight deck manpower required for sustained large-scale starfighter operations, relying on its two starfighter squadrons to provide it cover, which is, to say the least, not ideal.
  • Although heavily armed, the Bellicose is not optimized for prolonged high intensity fleet battles. Its distributed power systems and stealth oriented engineering limit its ability to sustain continuous maximum fire output compared to conventional Imperial capital ships.
DESCRIPTION
The Bellicose class experimental cruiser represents one of the final and most secretive warship initiatives commissioned by the Galactic Empire. Developed during a period when Imperial engineers pursued unconventional warfare technologies, the class was never intended to follow standard naval doctrine. Only a handful of vessels were completed, each built with unique internal configurations designed to support emerging experimental systems. No two Bellicose cruisers were fully identical, but all shared a mission profile centered on secrecy, adaptability, and long duration independent operations.

The cruiser’s most distinctive feature is its split wedge hull design. While maintaining the familiar triangular Imperial silhouette, the ship is divided into two armored hull planes separated by a wide central hangar. This layout allows rapid deployment of specialized starfighters, reconnaissance craft, and infiltration teams while providing direct access to modular experimental compartments. The hull was shaped and layered to scatter and absorb energy rather than reflect it toward sensors. Specialized coatings and composite materials absorb heat and electromagnetic radiation, allowing the vessel to blend into solar radiation, cosmic dust, and stellar interference. Distributed power systems further reduce detection risk by preventing the formation of a single strong energy signature, allowing the cruiser to operate with extremely low observability.

Armament aboard the Bellicose is intentionally variable but roughly the same. Each cruiser carries baseline heavy turbolasers, ion cannons, and defensive systems comparable to Imperial capital ships of similar size, but internal mounting architecture allows weapons to be reconfigured or replaced with experimental technologies depending on mission requirements. This modularity allows the vessel to shift between fleet support, precision strike, electronic warfare, and advanced weapons testing. Designed to operate alone for years, Bellicose crews were trained in both warfare and experimental systems management. After the collapse of Imperial central authority, most Bellicose cruisers vanished from fleet registries. Persistent rumors claim surviving vessels continue operating in remote regions of the galaxy, their presence marked only by sudden strikes, phantom fleet sightings, and unexplained appearances of experimental Imperial technology.
