Discussion Be the change - A new faction perhaps?

Smeagol is free
Ok I am now being that person that is continuing on my menace campaign today - given Kitter Bitters Kitter Bitters and Delila Castillon Delila Castillon 's threads.

So here it is:

What new kind of faction (not referring to the Foreign Legion in the works - big hype for that btw) would people like to see spawn on the map? One that can be committed to on a larger scale and that everyone can interact with?

And no this is not me leaving COV in the dust - I am asking this BECAUSE I want another faction COV can interact with.

I want SOMEONE to take the predominant idea from here and take it and run with it. Make it a reality. Be my huckleberry, y'all.

Shoot them ideas. And don't derail for the love of Pete - BE THE POSITIVE CHANGE YOU WANT TO SEE as so many folk keep harping on about from their insular corners. What will work in harmony (evil, neutral or good) with the rest of the board?

And most of y'all know by now my DMs are open for throwing whatever TP at the wall or to ask for some help or advice. Contrary to popular belief - I do care and want to help make the board an exciting place to be on. So I WILL help make your faction idea a reality in whatever capacity I can.

So bring me your ideas, dear children! I wanna hear them legitly.

Not really "new" per say, but the Mahporeem Imperial Remnant has been revamped recently. Brand new faction page and all that.

There's also the Bastion Imperial Remnant, which is similar to your traditional Imperial experience.

MIR=Unorthodox Imperial faction open to scrappers, criminals and general weirdos
BIR=Orthodox Imperial faction similar to the Fel Empire (I think? You'd have to ask Tiber Fel Tiber Fel lol)

I'm good for something heavily NFU related. Something for the underdog writers and characters to be represented. Afterall, they are a minority!

EDIT: The thing about the Rebels in the original movies, Rogue One, and in Andor is that they had more than just an idea to go against. It wasn't just "Empire bad! Empire must be stopped!" Instead they had superweapons to try to destroy before they could be finished, planets to liberate from tyranny; all the while having spies and politicians on the inside trying to both steal/extract information on superweapons and Rebel targets and planets, as well as try to use their influence to disrupt or slow down the Empire's success.

Those, in my humble opinion, are where the slowburn story arcs are at their best. Have they been done on this forum a hundred times over? My guess is that they probably have. But those kinds of stories to me are worthwhile ones.

There are a lot of people right now who seem interested in rebel type ideas but right now I’m not sure what they would rebel against?

I’ll be honest in that I cannot keep up with everything every faction is doing. I try but you guys are awesome and make so many threads it’s hard to know everything.

I sort of got the feeling that all our factions right now aren’t really evil? No slavery, no squalid living conditions, no loss of freedoms. No real reason to take them on except “empire bad.”

Am I way off??

Edit: this gives me a great idea actually! I could do news style blogs if faction representatives (both major or minor) would be willing to submit summaries of events. This way we could see what’s going on in the galaxy and give people ideas on how to be more involved?

That'd be great for me to follow, because I'm seriously out of the loop, ha ha!

Well, there are two Sith states that are openly the baddies and the Mandalorian Empire has Empire in their name, so you could spin a campaign that way even though they're a more neutral faction. Heck, you could have a rebellion faction focused on taking down the High Republic, take the stance of extremists who think they aren't doing enough. I think that, if folks are willing to follow along with and engage with the plots of various factions, there can be a satisfying rebellion story done just about anywhere. The real thing that has to be done to make it work is a willingness to collaborate. If you get that down then I think any storyline would work and be satisfying.

You need a Blue, and when I say blue, I mean cool blue, toothpaste blue, marketing blue Jedi Faction. You don't have one. Keyword there was marketing.

Your choices here and now are Mandos, More Mandos, Sith, More Sith, and hipster Naboo Jedi (no offense). It's not really a choice. It's like going to a burrito joint and asking for a Coke and they tell you all they have is Hipster Kola. I want a damn Coke.

Stop blaming the FIFA World Cup.

To have that natural good vs evil conflict you need both sides. You don't. You have dark and 'Light now with moar cherry' or ... whatever cola reminds you of the mandos. To have that natural narrative you need a robust standard Jedi Faction. Tall order, its tough to run.

No offense, but it's the only faction you add a descriptive modifier to, to describe.

So, you want another Jedi, that's more Jedi-Jedi, than the Far Worlds Alliance Jedi, whom last I checked are still trying to go major, and THR Jedi - who have a Vanguard and did a whole Jedi split that no other Jedi faction has tried to do before. Buuut, we still need a third Jedi faction.

ok, so we paint THR blue? Lorn Reingard Lorn Reingard
