SOCIAL INFORMATION
  • Author: Various Authors
  • Publisher: HoloFlix
  • Reception: The series was well-received for its "realistic" depiction of Jedi and its handling of military PTSD. Though it took liberties with history and legends, it was widely seen as a fun and slightly more serious alternative to The Totally Real Adventures of Auteme. Toys were popular with all genders of children with a movie, multiple seasons, and a spin-off revealed after the conclusion of its first season.
FORMAT INFORMATION
Each episode was between 40 and 45 min long with each season being roughly 50 Episodes. New Episodes were released on the streaming platform HoloFlix twice a standard Corellian week. Once the season was completed streaming rights to the episodes were sold to various local holo stations across the Galaxy.

CONTENT INFORMATION
Following the adventures of the main heroine Battlestar, a young and idealistic ex-soldier from Alderaan, the Exiles fight evil across the Galaxy. Dismantling pirate gangs, stopping monster attacks, and defending their home city of Coronet from the machinations of the evil Dr. Lucas the odd trio defend the weak on a weekly basis. While adventures are weekly there is an overarching story involving a roving Imperial fleet called the True Order (based on the New Imperial Order, Sith Empire, and other Imperial Remnant Groups). This story ties the weekly adventures together into large climactic battles involving the Galactic Alliance, the Jedi, and the Exiles having to work together in order to defeat their impossibly powerful foe. They occasionally have run-ins with mythical creatures like the Drenghir and groups based on real pirates such as the Brotherhood of the Maw.

The other two main characters were DD9-8; a mysterious droid with immense battle potential and an undying loyalty to Battlestar. How they met is a mystery but he is present at the start of the show; and Hylo Onduli, a Mirialan Jedi who was present at the Burning of Mirial and subsequently abandoned any affiliation with all Jedi Orders, roaming the Galaxy as a Ronin and Mercenary. Her Jedi sensibilities however make her swear loyalty to Battlestar after a sequence of events in the third episode. While most of the side characters and villains weren't based on real people, rather being based on archetypes, Battlestar's likeness was loosely based on Loske Treicolt Loske Treicolt , a popular and well-known Jedi Hero of the Alliance.

Profiles:

Battlestar

[First Appearance: Episode 1 - Battlestar]
Battlestar was a fair-skinned, blonde soldier who served with the Galactic Alliance during their war against "The Sith". Born Sasha Mozarati and raised on quiet Alderaan she craved adventure but was posted at an outpost on Corellia, a quiet location with no upward mobility. After her service period was over she quit, taking her skills as a mechanical savant to create a suit of armor, pink in color, that was made to increase her speed and strength to keep up with Jedi Knights. They also had energy projectors, magnetic boots and gloves, a sealable helmet, rocket boots, and a variety of other tools and weapons to fight evil. She set off to find her adventure, finding her friends DD9-8 and Hylo Onduli along the way. She finds herself embroiled in Galactic Politics and a grand conspiracy that could see the end of the Alliance as we know it...

DD9-8
[First Appearance: Episode 1 - Battlestar]
An Amaxine War Bot, DD9-8 was an ancient battle droid constructed by a forgotten race of warriors. He saves Battlestar's life after she activated him in an ancient Amaxine Station where the pair fight off an incursion of Drenghir (Episode 89 - Amaxine). After Battlestar returns the favor the War Bot swears to fight alongside Battlestar until its ancient enemy, the Drenghir, are fully eradicated. He can fly, shoot shoulder rockets, and has similar energy projectors to Battlestar's. He also acts as the team' strategist and translator.

Hylo Onduli
[First Appearance: Episode 2 - Ronin]
Raised by the Jedi Order, Hylo was but a padawan when she witnessed the great burning of her homeworld. Her Master was also killed earlier in the battle and she was left without one for a time. After completing her trials and becoming a Jedi Knight she left the Order, citing the blatant cover ups of the Mirial incident and other structural issues. She became a mercenary, helping those in need for cheap. Eventually she runs into Battlestar. Initially the two don't get along but Battlestar's Jedi-like qualities and their team up in Episode 4 - The Exiles, she joined Battlestar and DD9-8 on their adventures.

Grand Admiral Piccon
[First Appearance: Episode 10 - Unyielding]
A human male and veteran of the Old War between the Republic and Sith Empire. He leads the True Order from his massive flagship. He is the shadow puppeteer who usually has a finger or two in the enemies that Battlestar and the Exiles face on a weekly basis as he prepares for his grand re-emergence to take over the Galaxy.

Jedi Master Koh
[First Appearance: Episode 2 - Ronin]
A Corellian Green Jedi Master and main love interest for Battlestar. He was a handsome, olive-skinned man with a sense of justice that rivaled Battlestar's. His commitments though kept him in the Corellian Sector which was one of the only recurring locations in the series. He wielded a green lightsaber and was almost never seen outside of his Jedi Armor.

Commander Halsey
[First Appearance: Episode 9 - Old Wars]
A commander rumored to be loosely based on Alliance hero Commander Teica Giraan Teica Giraan . She is a recurring character and Battlestar's main ally in the final arc of the first season, with her ship being the one to lead the charge against Grand Admiral Piccon and his fleet. She is promoted to Admiral for her service in the final episodes, skipping several ranks.

Captain Zhak
[First Appearance: Episode 1 - Battlestar (Mentioned)/Episode 6 - The Gundark Job (Physical Appearance and voiced lines)]
A recurring smuggler character. He was an Ardennian with a penchant for schemes and was set up as the comedy relief character. He has mini arc episodes with each of the Exiles at some point throughout the series as well as several episodes of him and the Exiles teaming up together. Usually, to the chagrin of Battlestar, the Captain manages to swindles his way into getting what he wanted in the end. He flies a Corellian Courier with each episode having a different name with them all starting with Whisper. Whisper of the Heart and Whisper of a Summer's Dream being the first two.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
After the success of Holo Drama series The Totally Real Adventures of Auteme, Corellian multi-media organization Corellia Digital and its subsidiary HoloFlix bankrolled their own adventure series to compete for market share. Originally the plan was to have a Jedi love story adventure series following a Jedi akin to Ryv Ryv , however after some potential controversy with the Ned Jedi Order the company decided to look closer to home. The series was set to be a showcase of the Corellian Sector resulting in many episodes taking place there. However, once the full cast was fleshed out it was decided that it would take advantage of its wide viewership and stage episodes all over the Galaxy. A non-Jedi main character was chosen to avoid any of the Jedi politics going on in the Galaxy at the time with the Sith-Imperial Civil War and the Silver Jedi's own "Black Jedi" Laertia Io Laertia Io . The result was Battlestar and the Exiles, a story revolving around an ex-Marine who's only goal was adventure and do gooding. Jedi characters were added in later stages but the core of the series was meant to appeal to Non-Jedi female humans and near humans between the ages of 16 and 35 Standard Years. Ironically the main viewing demographic ended up being young men and non-human/near humans with the largest viewership being, unsurprisingly, centered around the Corellian Sector. Its first season did better than expected and a second season launched on Unity Day. There was a hiatus after the launch of a Corellian and Duros blockade of Byss due to an episode's close resemblance to the event but it picked up again afterwards with future seasons planned based around the Outbound Flight Initiative and a spin-off series about Captain Zhak and Commander (By then Admiral) Halsey. A trilogy of movies introducing new heroes to the Exiles and an extended universe of shows, holobooks and holocomics was the plan with only a movie announced so far.
