DESCRIPTION
The Barbel-class is a long-range interceptor built on the chassis of the Mako-class Interceptor. Like its sister craft, the Barbel-class offers superior performance and construction utilizing the same redundant systems and engineering matching it with the performance of the Mako-class or any other Interceptor currently deployed throughout the galaxy. While not as versatile as the Mako-class the Barbel class is designed to jump into a deployment zone and engage targets then jump out when needed. BUilt for these types of hit and run operations the Barbel-class is a standard deployment option for The Directorate and Silver Jedi Fleet vessels. Like her sister, the Barbel-class also has excellent atmospheric capabilities including the submersible capabilities of the Mako-class. The Weapons systems equipped are far less wide range than the Mako-class. Designed to hit a target hard and fast the Laser cannons, Autocannons, and missile launchers make up a standard attack craft loadout for the required operational design. Unlike her Sister, the Barbel is equipped with an advanced Hyperdrive. This drive replaces the SLAM drive equipped on the Mako-class reducing its speed capabilities replacing it with a class 0.8 hyperdrive rating.
