Babysitting Blues (Laina)

[member="Laina Silvias"]

Well, this was awkward.

After her shenanigans on Tash-Taral and her argument with Siobhan, which had mainly consisted of the Countess blowing up on her and giving her a good dressing-down, Elpsis had had time for self-reflection. This was not a thing she excelled at or particularly liked, though it was probably necessary. She highly doubted the Lady wanted her around in her 'perfect family' and, truth be told, didn't particularly care.

However, Siobhan had mentioned a woman who could offer her gainful employment. The job in question was babysitting! Truly, Elpsis wondered whether the Lady was trolling her, but apparently she'd been serious. Far as she knew Laina Silvias was a Forcer-user, which put her a bit on edge, but on the flip side she wasn't a Jedi. That was obviously a big plus in Elpsis' book.

She'd wanted to make a good impression, so she'd put on her prettiest clothes, which consisted of a pair of faded blue jeans and a red t-shirt, along with black boots. After all, she wasn't the sort who liked to get dolled up. Clamping down on the pangs of nervousness rising up inside her stomach, Elpsis knocked, waiting for the amazon to open up.

Laina had been a busy woman. Being a new mother, did that to any girl. Little Morrigan always needed something. In turn, the amazon got little sleep. With her fussy little girl in her arms, Laina was gently rocking her on the couch, trying to get her to settle down to sleep for a while, when the knock came.

Laina's brow furrowed. She wasn't expecting company that she was aware of. From here, she could sense Force User, but not one familiar to her. Not one of her tribal sisters that was for sure. Still, it set her a little on edge. Slowly she got up, still gently bouncing her little girl, bundled sweetly in a blanket. Eventually she made it to the door, looking quite a bit tired, and worn.

She turned the knob and opened the door slowly. A young teenager wasn't exactly what she was expecting. "Hello?" She said inquisitively. "How can I help you?" Morrigan squirmed in Laina's arms, twisting to see the new arrival.

The door opened and Elpsis faced a statuesque, but tired and worn out looking woman with lots of...tats. Yes, those were what she noticed. She was also carrying an adorable looking baby bundled up in a blanket. The strange woman's aura felt Dark Side. Presumably Elpsis' Jedi teacher would've given her a long lecture about how the Dark Side was bad, how consorting with darksiders would lead her into damnation blahblahblah. Not that Elpsis cared. Her teacher had been a moron.

So it actually relaxed her a bit. More than an 'incorruptible' Light Side aura of fluffy paragon goodness would have done. "Hi, I'm Elpsis. You're Ms. Silvias, right? Lady Kerrigan sent me. She said you needed a babysitter." This counted as Elpsis' attempt to sound formal and professional. She glanced over towards the baby, smiling slightly at her.

Laina nodded, "Yeah, just call me Laina though. Got no need for formality here." Shifting the baby, she rubbed tiredly at her eyes, trying to push away some of the sleepiness. "Well, Elpsis come on in and we'll chat." With that Laina finally opened the door completely, and motioned for Elpsis to come on inside. "Close the door, and lock it if you would behind you." She said firmly as she headed over to the couch to sit back down.

"I'm assuming you've not had much experience with babies. Not that they are really that complicated, just temperamental." Most kids hadn't. Her tribe was a special case and she knew it. Her eyes wandering over the redhead, evaluating her for a moment. "Come, sit." She insisted. "I don't bite, unless you want me to. I promise. Morrigan on the other hand, will grab and clutch at just about anything so be mindful. Surprisingly powerful grip for one so tiny." A warning of what was to come.

"Why don't you start by telling me about yourself? I'd like to know a bit about who you are if you're to watch over my little girl." She said softly as she shifted Morrigan onto her shoulder, and rubbed the girl's back soothingly.

Well, that hadn't gone that badly. So Elpsis gave tha tattooed lady and her kiddo a nod and closed the door behind her. "Uh, no I haven't," she admitted. The woman seemed to have a commanding aura that manifested without visible effort.

Her eyes swept over Elpsis, scrutinising her. "Oh, that's good to know. Don't think I'd mind you biting me though." The redhead was an unrepentant flirt. However, alas things turned moderately awkward again when Laina queried her about her past. Then again, Q&A session should not come as a surprise.

Elpsis sat down on the couch, shifting a bit nervously on it. "Well, I can cook, do first aid and I'm good at shooting." It was always best to start with your strengths. The awkwardness intensified. "I've also got empathy. I used to be a Jedi...for a couple weeks. I left them for being sanctimonious pricks. I've been a smuggler for several years, but I went strictly legal and I didn't do anything with kids. Firemane's got my references - I helped them shoot zombies on Elrood." Elpsis, you're not making a good case for yourself. She was quite deliberately not saying anything about her family.

"Didn't think so." She said with a nod. "I didn't expect you to have much experience. But I figured I'd check anyway."

A smile then came, her business like manner dropping away for a moment, "Yes, well that's good to know. Something we can address later, no doubt." After all, it was in her natural to desire sexual interaction with women. It was entirely what her culture had been based around. Still she understood a need to keep it toned down a little around new people.

The Amazon gave a nod, "Cooking, good good. First aid, also good. Shooting, extremely good. I say that because the tribe and planet I come from, isn't exactly what you would call normal. And I can get into the complex details of that later, but they still very much want me dead and want my baby. "

Laina kept listening, making small mental notes. Then came the Jedi, and Laina wrinkled her nose in disgust. "Pricks would be an understatement. My morality is not theirs and is based on nothing they believe in. I cannot stand having such things rammed down my throat like I'm some uncivilized savage who simply does not know better. Who only deserves eradication since I believe differently, and will not conform to their standards." Sore spot, definitely located. She had no love loss for the Jedi whatsoever.

"Smuggler would have left you with good survival skills. Means you ain't a weak girl. Have to be tough to survive in such a line of work, and I can appreciate that.." And again more nodding. Morrigan finally seemed to be settling a little but no where near close enough to fall asleep.

The baby was still cooing, squirming, and reaching for Laina's hair, which she promptly reached up and moved the girl's hand, tucking it gently back into the blanket. So far, she seemed to be warming to the kid. Something reflected in her posture as the ebonyhaired woman relaxed back on the couch a little. And in turn so did Morrigan.

Err, wait, what? She's saying nice things about me? The strange woman was not giving her a lecture about her poor lifestyle choices? Suffice to say Elpsis was very surprised. Everyone else wanted her to change, to conform to this or that set of arbitrary rules because their way was obviously the only true one.

Well, this was obviously an exaggeration, but sometimes it felt like this to her. However, her empathy left her in no doubt that Laina was sincere. Feeling some of the positive feelings bleed over to her, Elpsis visibly relaxed and even smiled.

"Jedi are a bunch of hypocritical, preachey jackarses. Half are whiny peaceniks, the other say they're righteous killing people because the Force told them so." This writer has yet to have a character who actually likes Jedi. "You don't look 'uncivilised' to me, at all. It's just an arbitrary word people use to make themselves feel superior to others anyway."

Laina's words about her tribe piqued her interest. Someone with a less troubled background might have wondered how someone could be so cruel to want to steal an innocent baby. However, Elpsis had a rather abusive daddy. She restrained the urge to prod, but it made her feel more at ease. "If your folks come knocking, I can help protect the kiddo. I can use a lightsabre. Not that well, but I can set people on fire."

"They are. I can't stand them or the things they have done. To me, to my tribal sisters. We aren't evil, just a shade of grey." Laina gave a shrug, "Some would think I am. Most people see the tattoos and think I'm some evil being who's going to do them harm. But they don't mean that. Each one represents a significant event or moment in my life. Each has a story. The way my tribe did things could sometimes be cold and seem cruel on the outside, but it wasn't. I never saw it like that. Still don't. People are always going to treat what they don't know and understand with judgement and fear."

The Amazon nodded, "I appreciate that. She is my world and the only thing I have left of the man I loved. She's everything, and I cannot lose her." Laina then cocked her head to the side, "Not trained much in your force talents, have you?" She asked sweetly. It wasn't a judgmental tone, just a kind, gentle one.

"Would you like to hold her?" She asked softly, feeling she could trust Elpsis enough to handle her child.

Elpsis actually looked attentive. More than that, she seemed fascinated while Laina spoke. It had quickly stopped being about ingratiating herself with the woman, it felt like she was actually connecting with her.

"I think your tats are kinda hot," she blurted out. The statement was unbidden, but it had clearly been on her mind for a bit. Besides, Laina didn't seem to mind her flirting. "I'd like to hear the story behind them when you got the time."

She nodded curtly when Laina enquired about her lack of training. In most cases Elpsis would've gotten defensive, since it often came with a judgemental ring. "No, I never passed my Initiate trials and washed outta AgriCorps."

'There is no shame in joining the AgriCorps. It is a calling no less important than that of a Jedi Knight.' Noble words from a Jedi master, but that didn't change the fact that it was the dumping ground for the washouts. Or anyone the Jedi Council felt was too complicated to deal with. Elpsis brightened when Laina steered the conversation back to lil Morrigan. "Yeah, I'd love to hold Morri," she extended her hands.

"Well, thank you for saying so." Laina said softly. "Someday we can talk about them. As I said each and every one has a story. Representing events in my life. So, it's like my life, is written out across my body to never be forgotten. Can't forget where you come from when you see it every day. Would take a long time to detail out. Perhaps when I've had some sleep. I've not gotten much in the past few days. Morrigan won't settle in to sleep." She said with a heavy sigh. The troubles of a new mother, with a newborn.

Laina nodded. She understood. "Please, don't take this as me passing judgement over you. It's not that.Never passed because you were not interested in training? Or never passed because you couldn't? Or never passed because you wanted no part of the Jedi way? The difference is important." The dark-haired woman said firmly.

"Force education, as well as education of the Divine Feminine are staples of my society. All women who have the Force must be educated. Not just for themselves, but for the protection of those around them. You can do just as much harm by accident, to the person standing beside you, as you can your intended target. Never mind what you can do to yourself. Now, I'm not judging darling. Just stating it plainly. I can offer a different training path, one not filled with sanctimonious crap and morality rammed down your throat. That I can do, if you are interested."

Laina then shifted, carefully supporting her little girl as she passed her to Elpsis. "Be mindful of her head, keep it supported." The baby girl was fussy, as she was moved. Not quite liking this change of hands. "Rock her gently, talk sweetly to her. She'll relax." Though not likely before she clutches onto some part of you with a death grip. Laina thought to herself.

The prospect of training made Elpsis shift a bit on the couch. On the positive side, it was a fairly comfortable one. "Never passed because I didn't want to sign up for 'Truth, Justice and the Jedi Way'. And because, well, most Forcers make me uncomfortable. Weird, I know. Long story cut short, bad stuff happened and I couldn't take it." At least she was trying to talk about her issues. Sort of!

'Harm by accident'. Those three words grabbed her attention and something flickered across her face, though it was banished soon. Perhaps she remembered a day in the distant past when she set a cop on fire after he'd caught her selling spice. In retrospect, the policewoman had not been about to take hostile action, Elpsis'd simply panicked and then she'd been set aflame.

"Couple weeks ago I'd have said no, but now I'd like that. If you got the time, I don't wanna impose. I made some bad choices in my life, but I want to get better." Then Laina passed over little Morri. Elpsis was mindful of her head when she took the fussy baby into her arms.

"Hey, Morri. I'm Elpsis. You're a lovely girl...aargh." As it turned out, Laina was not kidding about Morrigan having a firm grip, for she immediately latched onto Elpsis' firemane with an iron grip that would make an assassin droid jealous.

Elpsis winced strongly, but to her credit didn't try to pull the baby away from its new favourite toy. "Yes, Morri, red is a very nice colour. You got good taste, sweetie." While she said she stroked the baby's back and head gently, trying to send some empathy to calm it down a bit. "Are all babies this strong or does she just have good genes?"

Laina nodded, understanding. "I can understand that. It's not like I'm even remotely a fan of the Jedi and their crap." She said with a shrug, "And it's not as weird as you would think. I heard Siobhan's daughter was like that. Girl's got her reasons, I would assume. Who am I to question that?"

Laina's eyes narrowed for a moment, not quite sure what she'd caught a glimpse of in Elpsis' eyes. But the thought she pushed aside, choosing not to ask about that now. "Well, hun .. I don't mind training a woman. It's a sacred duty among my people. And, time I have. I stay here and care for Morrigan these days. She needs me here right now. So I'm around plenty, with no other job than to care for her." She didn't mention the stockmarket thing she did for Firemane. That was easy work here and there. Paid well too.

"As for the bad choices, we've all made them at one point or another in our lives. Spirits know, I've made more than my fair share over the years. So, know I'm not going to judge you on those choices. That's not my place, or anyone's. The important part, is that you recognize that they were bad choices, so that you don't repeat them in the future."

Laina couldn't help but grin, and soon burst into a small fit of giggles at the sight of Morrigan and Elpsis. "Can't say I didn't warn you. She's got the grip of the Spirits. So strong." Then she nodded, "At least among the tribe, the babies were always quite strong with those little fingers. Has to be good genes or something."

Morri squirmed, unintentionally pulling on Elpsis' hair as she did so. The kiddo didn't seem to have any desire to let go anytime soon. "You can always use empathy to calm her. Focus on how you want her to feel, warm, safe, happy. She'll usually relax and relinquish whatever she's clinging to, if you do that. Also helps when you are trying to put her to sleep."

Elpsis wasn't sure what to make of the look Laina gave her, but her words seemed to reassure her. So far she'd managed to have a talk that was going quite well without saying too much about her past. Then the lovely amazon started to laugh at her. Naughty! Well, she looked kind of cute. The effect was contagious and so Elpsis started giggling, too. "So she's got a big grip and she's as pretty as her mum. Girl's gotta be blessed, huh?" Elpsis' attempts to sound witty still needed a good deal of polish. "And she likes red hair, so she got good taste."

Ouch. The kid was still playing with her hair! This was not the kind of rough play she liked. Well, not from a baby for obvious reasons. "Thanks for the tip," she spoke as she winced a bit, then stroked the baby's head. She tried to gently connect her mind with Morrigan's, opening a channel that sent a stream of soothing, calmning feelings to her.

It took Elpsis some concentration and effort, since her technique was unpolished, but after a while the baby would be experiencing the mentalist equivalent of a melodic lullaby.Good girl, you're a lovely baby. I'll keep you safe and warm. We'll have lots of fun together. Once Elpsis got the hang of it, Morrigan would experience something similar to a warm blanket covering her. "Never really used empathy like that before. Well...I persuaded a sea serpent not to eat me once," she grinned slightly. The redhead had almost drowned on that day because she couldn't swim.

"Aww, now aren't you sweet. A little bold, but sweet." Laina commented with a soft smile forming on her lips. "And she certainly is blessed. She's come through a lot with me to get here to this world, so has to be blessed." Then a bright grin, "Good taste indeed. That and redheads are a bit exotic among my people. I never saw one until after I escaped them. May have something to do with that. You look so much different than her mum."

Laina nodded, "No problem, dear. It's how I work to soothe her. Which makes it an extremely comforting thing. You doing it, is just going to help her relate to you and understand you are safe, and a lot like her mum."

Morrigan squirmed a bit more, keeping a strong grip on Elpsis' Firemane. When the Empathic connection was made, the little girl's eyes snapped open and focused on the young girl. Her grip on her hair, relaxed and her little hand fell down to her own chest. A few more moments and her eyes sleepily drifted closed.

Laina had been watching, wanting to see how Morrigan reacted to Elpsis' attempt to soothe her and get her to let go of her hair. This much she was pleased with. "It's a good use of it. Both to soothe and comfort and to help influence emotions to help save your own skin. It works equally well for both." She paused, and leaned back tucking her feet under herself on the couch, "Well, I think you'll do. Morrigan seems to like you and that's good enough for me."

Elpsis looked quite surprised.. "No redheads in your tribe? Not a single one? They've sure been missing out. So I'd be real special if I met your people?" Yep, totally. So special that she might wake up after an intense orgy and discover that several amazons had claimed her as their wife. After all, she would be an exotic delicacy and thus need to be shared! The grip on her firemane loosened and Elpsis visibly relaxed just as Morrigan did.

Empathy was a two-way street and so some of the baby's emotions bled over, putting Elpsis more at ease. She stroked the little one's head for a few more moments as she drifted off to sleep, cuddling her. "So I got the job? Thanks. I won't disappoint you. I like lil Morri." Did she sound a bit overeager? Perhaps, but she seemed quite earnest.

Hopefully Elpsis would do equally well changing diapers. There was a pause before she spoke up again. "So what's your tribe like? You said their big on girl power and the Force." They were also hunting Laina and the baby, but she perhaps wisely didn't enquire about that right away!

Laina shook her head, "Not a single one. Everyone there is fair skinned, a few olive skinned women and the hair, it's all dark. Shades of brown and black. So you'd be quite unique, exotic really. Definitely special." Oh, yes she might definitely wake up after an orgy, to find she'd gained a few wives who had laid claim to her. And of course the other women in the tribe would want to share the new exotic delicacy among them all.

The Amazon nodded, "Yup, you got the job." Morrigan seemed oh, so content. The little one now was sound asleep, only occasionally wiggling a finger or two here and there. "Why don't we go put her in her crib and then we can talk more." She said softly, as she got to her feet.

Slowly she let the way down to Morrigan's little room. All sweetly decorated just for the little girl, thanks to Siobhan. "Just lay her down gently on her back. There's no need for a blanket or anything at this age. Too easy for them to get wrapped up in it."

Then came the question of her tribe. "The tribe, is something else. Different I suppose. Women are the only accepted members of the tribe, held as divine creatures - children of the Great White Wolf. Powerful, fierce, primal warriors that defend what is ours. There's a Matron that leads the tribe. The Force is common among the sisters. The majority of us have it. Training is of great importance for those that have it. No one is allowed to remain untrained. Once discovered as a Force Sensitive, the child is removed from the tribe temporarily and brought to the training caves. There's a select set of sisters that teach the next generation in the most basic of skills to prevent any accidents from happening. It's for their protection and the tribe's protection. After they are stable, they'll be returned." She didn't mention this training wasn't exactly nice, kind or gentle. Or the fact that occasionally a child not strong enough would perish. Those details she didn't feel like sharing at that point.

"The sisters that don't have the force, are still educated just in different ways. They are expected to be hunters, to be skilled craftswomen, artists, medicine women and caretakers. The Force using women, well we are guardians and protectors, prophetesses, and warriors. Education for all also includes all things feminine and even all things sexual. It's normal, natural and a sacred part of our lives."

She headed back to the living room after she was certain Morri would stay asleep. "Men, have no place in the tribe. They are something we collect when the handful of sisters are selected for the great honor that is pregnancy - creating the next generation of sisters. We are, altered through alchemy in our early teens, to only be able to have girls. So, collection of men outside the tribe is needed." Collection, a nice word for kidnapping. Though Laina had been a bit different. She hadn't been chosen to have a child. She'd been on the prowl to find new men, but found one of her own. One she secretly kept seeing, fell in love with and managed to get pregnant. And the child they wanted, her .... not so much.

"Ok. Let's get you to bed, Morri," Elpsis said cheerfully, talking to the baby even though she was sleeping soundly. So she picked up Morrigan, craddling her in her arms like something precious, and followed Laina into her room. It looked very nice! Gently, she laid the baby down in her crib and laid her down gently on her bac. After stroking the baby's head for a moment, she turned away. Aww, so cute!

She listened when Laina described her people. The redhead usually had the attention span usually associated with a kitten in a tinsel factory, but it seemed she was making an effort to pay attention to the tattooed amazon. She kitted her brow, feeling like Laina was keeping some details from her. She figured it was probably unpleasant stuff she didn't feel like talking about.

"Collected? Do you tempt them with a free ride of carefree sex or nab them? Most men I've known were dicks, so I wouldn't mind living without them," she said bluntly. Daddy Dearest had not been a good role model. Or the leader in her first gang. She'd ended up setting his manhood on fire.

"Not sure what I think of your tribe...but it doesn't sound bad or 'barbaric' to me. Just very different. Well, the whole alchemy thing sonds a bit...scary. No offence." She chose her word carefully, not wanting to offend the woman. "How are Forcers trained? You said there's none of this hypocritical Light-Dark mumbo-jumbo. If Forcers are actually a proper part of the tribe, that's better than Jedi being out-of-touch, elitist pricks. And how old are the kids when they're...taken away. They get to live with their family when training's over, right?" The brief flicker on her face showed that this was a subject that interested her a lot. Perhaps it was a reflection of her own childhood issues. After all, her adoptive parents had dumped her, never called and Jedi discouraged familial attachment. Well, it depended on the Code of the week.

In other news, Elpsis supported clone rights. She licked her lips, looking Laina up and down. "So, if you're a bunch of amazons, don't do anything with men except when you need sperm donors, does that mean you have lesbian orgies?" she asked innocently. She seemed to realise that she was asking a lot of questions. "Sorry if I'm bombarding ya, just interested."

"Men are weak. Offer them the prospect of unlimited sex for a few weeks with no strings attaches, and the majority will come quite willingly. Keeping them is the trouble. Their equipment isn't as ... how shall we say, durable. They get sore, grouchy, but there's a plant for that." Mind altering plant, most definitely. Tribal medicine at it's finest. "Though, if they are selected and refuse, nabbing them is needed."

Laina gave a shrug, "I can understand that. They are different. As much as I don't like what they've done to me, the situation they have put me in, they still are family. And you never give up on family, no matter what. And no, no offense taken."

"Well, that part is ... to be perfectly honest, brutal. It's the one thing I cannot stand about the tribe. The one thing I'd give anything to change. As I said they are taken to the caves to train, away from the tribe to prevent accidents. The caves are something like a prison. There is no leaving until you can control the force at least enough to be back around the other sisters. The ages kids are taken vary. I was taken at five when I first showed signs. Others a little younger, or a few a little older. It's sink or swim for the basics. They'll explain what the force is, a tool to be used to help the tribe. Beyond that you aren't so much taught as you teach yourself, for food, for a toy, some freedom. You get assigned a task to complete and told what the reward you'll receive. It's up to you to work out how to achieve that task."

Laina sighed, and ran a slow hand through her own hair. This part of tribal life, she didn't like to explain. It wasn't a fun period of time for her. Miserable was an understatement. "Some kids, don't make. But once the observing sisters think it's safe, you return to the tribe." She took a deep breath and let it out slowly, pushing aside those more difficult memories. "It was about eight months before I was allowed back with my family. It wasn't easy, in any way but I survived." It was no small wonder that the women who did survive were incredibly strong, powerful women. "After that training, then you get a mentor of sorts that helps you refine your skills into what is most needed by the tribe at the time."

Laina then chuckled at Elpsis' next question. "Remember that part about all things feminine are part of our education. That very much includes a complete education in healthy, frequent and quite pleasurable sex. So," She gave a wink, "To answer your question, yes."

She smiled, "No, no it's fine. Not many folks ask and it's not something I get to talk about often, truly don't mind." Though there was a growing nagging feeling in the back of Laina's mind that something might be coming. Something was slightly off, but she couldn't place her finger on that just yet. So as not to alarm Elpsis, she kept her feelings on that tightly under wraps.

Well, this was both illuminating and very disturbing. Elpsis didn't mind the part about nabbing manlings much. Her history with them hadn't been great, to say the least. "You're lucky if they last for a couple minutes before going limp. Only think with their little sausage and they can't even use it properly. Itty bitty living space," she said contemptuously. She'd picked up the phrase from Siobhan, who unbeknownst to her had gotten it from Mirien.

However, she looked very disturbed when Laina spoke of the tribe's child-rearing methods. "They just dump kids in a cave and leave them to survive or die? Because that somehow 'makes them strong' and they can't be bothered to actually fething raise them? That's...that's just fething sick. Someone who does that deserves a bullet." Had Elpsis discovered she had something like a moral code? Perhaps.

It probably said a lot that she was so disturbed by this that she didn't make any corny innuendo when Laina confirmed that the tribe did have sapphic orgies. Her eyes flickered over to Morrigan, who was sleeping so peacefully. "We're not gonna let that happen to Morri, right?"

"Pretty much. Only ever cared for the one. Broke the rules, got pregnant and well, yeah ... here I am." Another shrug, "Seldom few have evolved beyond having only enough blood to operate one of their brains."

"I know. I don't like the practice any more than you do, and I lived through that mess. I mean, they are supervised, but really that's just to assign tasks and keep the kids there. It's not pleasant. I firmly believe there are better alternatives to training and raising our young, that keeps with traditions and isn't so cruel and unforgiving."

Laina looked to her baby girl, so sweet and innocent in her crib. It was hard not to be fearful that day might come. "As long as I'm alive, no. No, it will not. But they are after me, to kill me and take her. And in that case, I cannot guarantee her future to be safe and free of such horrors."

That ominous feeling was growing and starting to concern Laina now. "Something isn't right." She said quickly, and headed out of her daughter's bedroom. "Close her door." She said, still standing in the hallway. "Now sure what it is, but I worry." Maybe it was paranoia. Laina truly hoped it was just that. "Got a weapon Elpsis, or shall I retrieve one from the closet for you?" One had to be prepared. "I hope it's nothing. Just being paranoid with the talk of the tribe and the bad stuff. I really do." For now though, they weren't disturbed.
