OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To create a standard battle droid for CIS use
  • Canon Link: None
  • Permissions: None
  • Primary Source: B-1 Battle Droid
PRODUCTION INFORMATION
TECHNICAL INFORMATION
  • Classification: Fourth Degree
  • Weight: Very Light
  • Height: Average
  • Movement: Bipedal
  • Armaments: None on board
  • Misc. Equipment: Photoreceptors, auditory sensors, vocabulator, and built in commlink to give it the ability to function in a variety of roles. Humanoid shape and hands allow this droid to be programmed and put into a variety of combat and/or support roles on the battlefield. Has the flexibility to collapse itself to make storage easier.
  • Resistances (Optional):
    • Energy (And other Blaster type weapons): Average
    • Kinetic: Average
    • Lightsabers: None
    • Other: EMP/Ion - Very High
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Light Weight and collapsible design makes this droid easier to store and then deploy when sent on missions.
  • Design of droid allows it to be used in place of humanoid crew members, able to be programmed to perform a variety of tasks
  • Sensor packages on board allows commanders to be able to see and transmit data through droids across the battlefield, making every droid an effective relay for information.
STRENGTHS
  • Strength in numbers: The collapsible body and chassis makes these droids very easy to store and deploy en-mass. This means that these droids are able to be used in massive waves to overwhelm enemies. And while a single droid may not be enough to bring down a trooper one on one, you'll rarely get those fights with these droids.
  • Hardened against EMP/Ion weaponry: These droids have been hardened against EMP and Ion weapons to make them more resilient and therefore less vulnerable to area of effect ion or EMP weaponry.
WEAKNESSES
  • Divided they are weak: A single droid by itself is comparatively weak, especially compared to the standard trooper. Their light weight and cheap construction makes them poor physical or CQB combatants.
  • EMP protections aren't permanent: Exactly like it says, against direct EMP or Ion attacks this droid's protection won't last forever, or even against a high intensity EMP or Ion weapon.
DESCRIPTION
Designed as a replacement for the CIS's aging B-1 battle droid design, the B-7 is a newer take on an age old philosophy for the CIS's general purpose ground droids program. Numbers are everything. And this design takes the traditional B-1 and makes several much needed improvements to make them more effective ground based fighters, while also not sacrificing on cost, or the ability to produce these droids on massive scales. And while this droid by itself isn't much of a threat to the average soldier on the battlefield, these droids deployed en-mass can pose an extreme threat to any defenders as while they are pretty easy to kill alone, using area of effect Ion weaponry does little to nothing to mass as a whole. This necessitates that soldiers use conventional weapons against these droids, or even having to single out and kill every single one individually with a direct fire weapon system. And in many situations you'll run out of bullets/shots before they run out of droids. All in all, a cheaper but effective alternative to militia soldiers.
