- Stealth/Cloaking System: This ION satellite is capable of projecting a small stealth field to keep it hidden from visual scanners as well as other detection systems. Alongside the Nightshadow overlay it is virtually invisible when within it's cloaked field. The system is outfitted with a thrust trace dampener to further mitigate the chance of detection.
- Mass Ion Cannon: This device is host to a large ION weapon that can fire an Ionic particle field, intended to scramble electronic systems and leave enemy ships defenseless to a counter attack.
- Untraceable: When in stealth mode this satellite is nearly undetectable by most standard means of sensory and scanners.
- ION Proof: This weapon is outfitted to handle ION/EMP weaponry. It is nearly impervious to such weaponry and it would take considerable sustained exposure for the weapon's systems to go down.
- Cloak Failure: Just before firing the satellite is forced to drop it's stealth field. This reveals the satellites general position, however the Nightshadow cloaking makes a specific targeting very difficult even when the stealth field is down.
- Undefended: Aside from the Ion Canon utilized by this weapon, it is virtually undefended from a counter attack.
- Immobile: These satellites are incapable of adjusting their position, except through minor adjustments for firing when using their thrust boost technology.
When in the early stages of design, this ION web was drawn out with the intent for there to be hundreds of satellites, all devoted towards releasing a salvo of ION weaponry upon an unsuspecting enemy, In the end it was found to be more conducive, and cost effective, to create a limited number of the weapons. Each satellite is outfitted with a stealth-cloaking system which allows them to remain hidden from enemy detection, along with a thick coating of Nightshadow that increased their ability to go undetected. The WEB satellites are released into space with the intention of serving as a sentry gun. They engage their stealth fields when hyperspace waves are detected using a very simple long-range scanner. The moment they cloak, they will remain so until they are commanded to do otherwise through their remote system. They can be set to automatically fire on all non-friendly vessels or be manually controlled for more accurate firing orders. Their cloaking systems do have to shut down just before they fire their ION cannon, however once the massive wave has been fired it can be devastating to enemy lines as it will gradually expand as it flies through space, attempting to disable any undefended ships or equipment in it's path.
