ADVANCED SYSTEMS

Advanced Maneuvering Thrusters:
The Strike Eagle features advanced maneuvering thrusters enabling it to have better than average mobility for dogfighting.

Missile Override Control: The Strike Eagle is capable of manually detonating its AASM missiles if the pilot so desires to either force the enemy along a certain vector or do at least some glancing damage if countermeasures are proving to be particularly problematic even if it cannot score a direct hit due to them.

STRENGTHS

Fighter Killer:
The Strike Eagle is designed primarily to kill enemy fighters and interceptors to help ensure space or air superiority, with its combination of good maneuverability, blaster cannons, and large complement of agile, dual guidance, air to air/space missiles specialized for dogfighting, enabling it to take on both regular fighters and “swarm” fighters with relative ease.

Good Maneuverability: The Strike Eagle has been upgraded with advanced maneuvering thrusters and lightweight duraplast alloy armor to enable it to have better than average maneuverability in dogfights.

SAWACs Synchronization: It is specially designed to work in conjunction with the Argus SAWACs craft to help with missile guidance, communications, and general combat guidance.

WEAKNESSES

Light Shields: Due to the power requirements of its maneuvering thrusters and the need to knock off weight on the craft to ensure a larger than average complement of weapons, the Strike Eagle has relatively light shields compared to one’s typical starfighter. It is meant to use its speed and maneuverability, along with its missiles, either to evade the enemy or engage/force them break at a distance before taking sustained fire from blaster cannons.

Purpose Built: The Strike Eagle is not a multirole fighter, it is designed for taking out enemy fighters and to a lesser degree enemy interceptors, bombers, and light freighters. Its missiles would only do relatively minor damage to craft larger than these.

Not Elite: The Strike Eagle, while capable, is designed to be relatively economical to field in decent numbers, as such it is inherently not an “elite” fighter equipped with the very best shields, thrusters, and armament, as that would be prohibitively expensive.

DESCRIPTION

The AVSF-1 “Strike Eagle” fighter is the standard variant upon which all Voland Military Enterprises strikecraft are derived from and a core component of the overall military doctrine the company works towards. It is designed to be an effective space superiority fighter equipped with good maneuverability, dogfighting-specialized missiles and tactical/strategic integration with other Voland Military Enterprises product while still being economical to produce.

Effective tactical use of the Strike Eagle is to use its large complement of agile “short range” (visual range) missiles to attack enemy fighters at a distance and either destroy them or force them to engage in evasive maneuvers along vectors that the Strike Eagle pilot wishes. It can then follow up these missiles with accurate shots from its blaster cannons thanks to its good maneuverability. They can also be used to deal with enemy bombers and interceptors if they are foolish enough to get close enough to the Strike Eagle to allow its missiles or blaster cannons to do its work, although a more specialized variant of the Strike Eagle is better designed to do this.

Strategically, the Strike Eagle is best used in large numbers to thin out and eliminate the enemy’s fighters so that its bomber and interceptor variants can have free reign to wreak havoc on enemy capital ships, bombers, and fortifications with relative impunity. It is heavily recommended to use it with the Argus SAWACs system as it can provide crucial intel and allow for great coordination with the rest of the fleet.

I love the ship's design!
  • Please link a different permission, where your question also visible, where you ask Carla's permisison to use her company.
  • Please link the Elysium Empire to the Affiliation.
  • Defenses: Low; but you mentioned these: ECM countermeasures, flares, chaff, shields. | These are far from the low, in such ship, these, together reach the High level. So please clarify why these are only low, or modify the list. I know you mentioned in the weaknesses, but you mention shields and not a single one, for example

Gotcha MANIAC MANIAC What would you say would be fair for "low defenses" out of the ECM, chaff, and flares while retaining light shields so that I can properly modify it. Is it an either or kind of thing, or can I drop, say, ECM, but keep chaff and flares, or drop chaff and flares, but keep ECM?
