- Ability to equip Appliqué Armor Panels, increasing survivability at the cost of speed and maneuverability
- Can equip two types of Appliqué Armor Panels: Ersteel 145 based panels or NZ Pangolin Type 1/A Reactive Armor Plating
- Versatile armament: A combination of laser cannons and ordinance launchers allows the AT-AAW to effectively combat a variety of different threats
- Stability: The AT-AAW's reinforced leg system, combined with its slightly lowered center of gravity, makes the walker far more difficult to topple over in battle
- Modular: By utilizing a modular hardpoint system, the AT-AAW can swap out different weapons and equipment as needed, allowing it to engage in a number of different mission profiles that it was not originally designed for
- Appliqué Armor Panels: The AT-AAW is capable of equipping Appliqué Armor Panels as needed, increasing the walker's survivability at the cost of some of its speed and maneuverability
- Preemptive defense: Depending on its mission, the AT-AAW can equip two types of Appliqué Armor Panels: Ersteel 145 based panels, which are lighter and more economical to equip, and NZ Pangolin Type 1/A Reactive Armor Plating, which is more effective against enemy ordinance and blasters
- Ineffective Armor: Though effective against hand held blasters, the AT-AAW's armor is ineffective against dedicated anti-armor weaponry and vehicle mounted weapons. Even the installation of Appliqué Armor Panels only provides a moderate defense boost against these types of weapons
- Small Viewports: The AT-AAW's viewports are rather small, to prevent the driver and gunner from receiving incoming fire. This also makes it difficult to properly see out of the vehicle, especially in the heat of battle
- Crew Intensive: With only a total of two crew members, operating the AT-AAW can prove exhausting after prolonged use. This is especially prevalent on models with the Roof Mounted Gun Emplacement, which requires the commander to open the hatch of the cockpit and manually operate the weapon. That being said, the addition of a Proton Mk I Droid Brain helps to alleviate this issue somewhat
- Expensive: As expensive as the original AT-AAW was, the redesigned version is even more costly and time consuming to manufacture
Though the original All Terrain Armored Assault Walker served admirably with the Mahporeem Imperial Remnant for centuries, its design features proved inadequate for dealing with the many modern threats that the Imperial Remnant found itself encountering on a daily basis. To make the walker more competitive, the Mahporeem Imperial Remnant contracted the N&Z Umbrella Corporation to refit the vehicle, turning an antiquated walker series into a formidable fighting machine.
The walker was completely overhauled and equipped with a number of new weapon systems. Though its Dymek DW-3 Concussion Grenade Launcher was kept, the AT-AAW received NZ LC-2A Laser Cannons, Missile Hardpoints compatible with N&Z Umbrella Corporation ordinance and a Roof Mounted Gun Emplacement capable utilizing a number of N&Z small arms. The walker furthermore received a new sensor system to better help it engage targets that might try to hide within its blindspot.
Most importantly, the proprietary Appliqué Armor on the original walker was kept but modified, allowing the vehicle to accept either Ersteel 145 based armor panels or NZ Pangolin Type 1/A Reactive Armor Plating. These armor systems greatly increase the survivability and durability of the walker at the cost of some speed and maneuverability.
