Description: The Ascension Belt is a flexible, metallic belt which contains a number of linked solid-state holographic projectors. It has a series of default settings. These settings create hard-light objects and permit the wearer to move independently of these objects, thanks to sophisticated inertial sensors. No part of any of these objects can exist beyond a 13-metre distance from the belt, and a line of sight break between belt and object will cause the object to dissipate for the duration of the break. These objects can carry reasonable weights and cargo loads; excessive weight will cause a commensurate power drain, potentially exhausting the belt's diatium power cells in hours or minutes. The belt is not recommended for loads over 100kg. Loads over 200kg have been known to fall slowly through the hard-light construct. Very skilled technicians could likely convince the belt to produce other shapes within the same scale and range restrictions. All shapes are blue and glow.
  • Ladder: The Ascension Belt can generate a single- or double-sided ladder, slanted, vertical, or horizontal, at 2, 4, or 10 metres in length. The ladders are not susceptible to tipping and do not need to lean against anything, though if they do lean against a firm surface, power drain is drastically reduced.
  • Bridge/staircase: The Ascension Belt can generate a variety of bridges, none longer than 10 metres or wider than 2.5 metres. Smaller and narrower bridges drain less power. The bridges do not need to be anchored on firm surfaces, but power drain is proportional.
  • Barrier: The Ascension Belt can generate a simple, airtight barrier across an opening (up to 7m x 7m), or create simple, temporary, highly-visible cover (1m x 2m). Heavy blasterfire and powerful slugthrowers can punch through, and any sustained fire, even from low-grade weapons, will drain the power cell very quickly. This is not a personal shield. Lightsabres and other special weapons (e.g. arc casters, tensor weapons, Ssi-Ruuvi paddle beamers) will pass through the construct; sustained/repeated contact will dissipate it.
  • Zipline/climbing rope: Can be generated with or without knots, with any slope. Standard range and weight restrictions apply.
  • Melee weapon: Preset melee weapons in various forms can be generated. As they have shape but no appreciable mass, the effect is much like hitting a target with a child's plastic weapon: potentially painful, but not injurious or lethal unless used in very specific ways.
Please note that the Ascension Belt is not large enough to be EMP/ion hardened in any serious way. EMP/ion damage will cause the construct to vanish, no matter who's standing on it. Also note that telekinesis is fairly difficult to use against the constructs directly, though the belt is of course susceptible so long as it's not within the personal Force aura of a well-trained user.

I'd like a rough limit here. Approx X kilograms

Its not a personal shield here, it acts more like an area of effect shield. I presume the basis for these is the cover from The Old Republic Games. Its possible, albeit on a low-end scale as you have described. I would like to know if there is anything else that will pass through it with little to no resistance. Ion Beamers, Tensor weapons, and Arc Casters come to mind.

This is the biggest thing. Can you provide me of an example of a hologram moving independent of its projector?

[member="Draco Vereen"] - how's this look to you?

  • 100kg recommended limit, 200kg practical limit
  • included your suggestions for other weapons that pass through cover
  • inertial sensors and partial list of precedents for hologram movement, plus line of sight clause
