PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION

Arris is a human with visible cybernetics and implant seams in her skin. Her blonde hair is usually tied up in a ponytail, otherwise just over shoulder length when let down. Her grey eyes have an artificial glint to them and an uncanny lack of blood vessels or redness of the sort. She is heavier than she looks but of an athletic stature nonetheless, her figure is one some might find attractive from bust to waist, with a conventionally pretty face if they can excuse the panels. She wears the usual garments of a credit-starved spacer: a leather jacket and fashionable pants, both of which end where her artificial limbs begin. Were it all skin Arris would look rather silly in her digs.

PERSONALITY AND BELIEFS

Arris sees herself as a rockstar with a temporary wealth and fame deficiency, but in reality, she’s just a gambler with an unchecked ego.

From a young age, Arris has been chasing the big-time, be it swoop races or shockboxing. Naturally, she found herself indebted to sketchy investors and venue managers over everything from unpaid fees to coughing up bad bets after a big loss. She’s turned to slicing, petty theft, and occasional muscle work to pay back what she owed, leaving her quite cynical of the way of the galaxy.

This belief can be summed up quite simply: Everyone has an angle and you need to either work it or avoid people. Usually some combination of both.

In the more vulnerable confines of her mind, however, Arris is just as scared as anybody and chases distractions instead of confronting her inner demons. Her greatest fear is being anything other than how she wants to be seen; that and dying alone and unknown.

STRENGTHS

Fully Loaded Cyborg
: Arris is the complete package, or so her former “employer” would say, with some of the best implants and cybernetic replacements credits can buy. She is faster and stronger than any organic human, with elevated senses and extra toys included.

Daredevil: Arris is ready to take on the world… or at least backwater swoop races. Her demeanor is that of a daredevil, a certain fearlessness that kicks in whenever ego or credits are on the line, granting her that unexpected edge which surprises spectators and opponents alike.

WEAKNESSES

Overtuned
: Being the “complete package” has some downsides. Significant and sustained use of cybernetics damages her body, requiring medical attention and repairs in the worst scenarios. Otherwise, she needs to carefully limit their use to avoid such consequences.

Goddess Complex: With great ego comes great familiarity with the gutter. Arris loves to overcommit, overextend, and lose both credits and pride on the fly. This means she attracts trouble in the form of authority, rivals, and bad habits galore. Whether it’s betting big on a bad hand or picking a fight with the guy who will hunt her down forever, Arris rarely quits when she should.

HISTORY

Arris Windrun was born and raised in the city of Nashal on the planet Talus in the Corellian System. Her parents are unimportant, a role best left to the imaginary silhouettes standing behind a young girl as she finds her way in the world. She was sheltered, she was fed, and more importantly, she was left alone. As a teen, she dropped out of school in favor of petty criminal work. By that point, she had already sliced into garages, jacked speeders, and scammed her share of spacers. It wasn’t long before the local fixers and shakers saw her true potential: a fearless and reckless young woman willing to do more than the average goon for less.

This is when her story really began. See, a local crime boss saw the appeal. Her oversized ego had the fortunate side effect of bringing in oversized bets, which proved a great opportunity for fights and races. Whenever she began to win regularly, an offer came in… “We can fix this” or “We can improve that” and soon enough she was accepting her first cybernetics to get a better shot at the big leagues. What started small–with seamless implants–soon ended with whole limb replacements. The worst part was that she lost sight of her limitations, and soon took on challenges beyond her capabilities. She started to lose big and lost often, all the while she owed payments for those very upgrades she had been given.

Eventually, the cost grew too high and the crime boss’ patience ran out. He intended to repossess what she had been given, her life be damned, and that was a price Arris wasn’t willing to pay. So she did the only sensible thing a young woman could do. She ran. She fled. She drifted from one world to the next but therein laid a problem. This crime boss and she had the same fatal flaw, an unwillingness to give up even when the bets became untenable. He put a price on her head and that price kept increasing the longer she was gone, until all she had left were backwaters far removed from surveillance systems and updated bounty boards.

With her opportunities dwindled by the need for obscurity, Arris now spends most of her days getting intoxicated at seedy cantinas and losing the rest of her credits on card games only to make it all up again in the fighting rings. It is a particular kind of ouroboros where the tail comforts the head as much as it chokes it, too.

Whether Arris Windrun can escape her fate remains to be seen, but one thing can be sure… Win or lose, the bets will be big.

APPEARANCE

Arris Windrun has a pale synthetic face beneath a bob of dark hair, crowning an all-cybernetic body from the neck down. See her through the Force, however, and you wouldn't tell. This mechu-deru master has imbued every inch of wire and steel with the Dark Side.

COMBAT ASSESSMENT
Many would argue that Mercy was the queen of power in a brawl. She earned that by winning the Galactic Kaggath. If that was the case, then Arris Windrun was the Mercy of speed. She's a cyborg, a master of mechu deru, a twitchy gunslinger, and formerly a professional shockboxer. She's all about owning the pace and hitting you with a sucker punch. All her fights begin with spit in the dirt and end with blood in the mud.

PERSONALITY
Broody, moody, riding the line between ice queen and self-loathing psychopath; a recovering stim addict, she turned to psychedelics to cope. Somewhere buried in all that, however, is an introspective woman trying to climb out of the darkness. Be careful, though; her nice side is the one likely to get you killed.

HISTORY

Arris Windrun was born on Talus to indifferent parents; they kicked her out the door as soon as she could fend for herself. She joined one of the many Talusian gangs bent to the will of the Corellian Syndicates, rising from a runner to a foot soldier, until it all fell apart. After that, she ditched the streets to work for a fixer. She helped him cheat fights in the shockboxing circuits, where her extensive use of drugs and cybernetics began, all while moonlighting as his personal thug and killer until the day he screwed her over.

She ran to Nar Shaddaa, became a somebody on Ruusan, worked for the Black Sun, and then co-founded a little outfit called the Sith Covenant. That journey took Arris from the life of a savvy swoop ganger to one of the most powerful Sith Lords ruling from the Galactic Core. It was just the sort of upward mobility that a street rat like her once dreamed of... Only being responsible for murder and massacres wasn't supposed to be in the cards. And yet she still plays with a blood-soaked deck anyway, intent on winning the whole damn pot.

CYBERWARE & ARMORY

PERSONALITY

Windrun sees herself as a rockstar, but in reality, she's just a killer with an unchecked ego. She pretends that what she does is normal so she can justify flipping the switch between violence and charm, in denial of the damage she does to herself and others.

CHARACTER TRAITS

Cyber Mutant:
Arris is more than a cyborg; she is a cybernetic mutant transformed by the power of the Dark Side and shares a Force Bond with her brain implant. Together they fight as a team, fueling each other's power in the Force and projecting their will over cybernetics, droids, and inanimate objects within reach.

Dark Horse: The Dark Horse of Ruusan is a gifted fighter capable of clawing victory out of defeat. A hard lesson she taught to Jedi Knights and Sith Lords on her way to third place in the Galactic Kaggath. Underestimate her at your own risk.

Goddess Complex: Arris is a reckless overcommitter in practically all her affairs. She is the kind of gambler who goes all-in on a bad hand because "winning now" means more to her than staying in the game longer, often with others on the line.

CONNECTIONS

BACKGROUND

Arris Windrun was just a nobody on the run before she entered the Galactic Kaggath - a shockboxer with too many debts to pay and a target painted on her head. She barely scraped credits together and spent them all on vices and a ticket to the next rock. Sure... she had an interesting exploit or two.... but she was still the same old same old. Until she entered the Galactic Kaggath on Ruusan. To spectators, opponents, and the organizers, she was still a nobody. Hell, the only reason she entered was by the grace of a generous sponsorship.

Her first opponent was a seasoned Sith Outlaw who fought to kill, and they did battle on a giant wroshyr tree with hungry vornskr jaws waiting below. He proved more than a match, even dismantling half her arm in the process as the tree burned and fell around them. The cyborg will never forget that feeling when he used the Force to crush her, and she shot him dead with his own gun. That was the moment she began to awaken in the Force, and a moment that etched itself deep inside her soul and psyche.

The next fight wasn't any easier. A Jedi Shadow who fought up close and hard like she did, with nothing but floating platforms over lava to separate them from an early end. He pushed Arris to the limit, and she learned to fight harder than she ever thought possible. When the fighter thought she would die, the Force answered her with a defiant scream - her pain and fear made manifest. She managed to survive and, with some luck, she advanced to the next round.

Arris took serious damage in her first two bouts and believed her time was up. At the moment, she was glad to have gone that far and considered her success a gift more than anything. Yet her next opponent - the Emperor's Hand - would demand more from Miss Windrun than she had life to give. In a way, she died in that fight. Her body was pushed to its limits and then some, and transformed by an ancient dark power into something that blurred the lines between organic and machine. She didn't remember winning at all, but she did.

Good things must come to an end... Arris hated that proverb, even if it was true, or maybe that was why she hated it. Her final opponent was the tournament's eventual champion: Mercy. Star-Arm, some called her. Though it was a close fight, the Dark Horse of Ruusan couldn't go any further. She was lucky to be left alive. Spared by her opponent, who saw potential in a future friend and co-conspirator. Although Arris did not achieve the grand victory and wealth she had hoped for, she did come out the other side alive and, more importantly, noticed.

Mauve du Vain - one of the tournament's organizers - gave her an offer she couldn't refuse: "Become my chief enforcer, and I will open doors for you." She also gained the attention of a Sith Lord and once Emperor, Darth Adekos Darth Adekos , who some declared to be the galaxy's greatest living technopath. He saw potential in the Dark Horse and offered to train her in the arts of Sith science and technopathy. Arris would also go on to raid Kattada and the first Sith Conclave. Indeed, she was a nobody, but then she was on the path to becoming a somebody.
