Arpat be Burcyan - Seed of Friendship [Ordo] [[Complete]]

"Yeah, a lot..." She replied quietly as she smiled again. She was still trying to wrap her mind around the fact he'd adopted her and taken her away from the endless hunger and fear that had been a fact of life for the last few years.

She followed his gaze out the viewport, wondering briefly how many of those stars he'd visited, and how many she would. It wasn't anything she'd ever thought would happen.

Her thoughts were jolted back to the present when he spoke, and she flushed as her gaze followed where he was pointing. She knew at least in general how the process worked.

Taking a deep breath, she brushed her hair from her face and, newness forward to rest her hand on the indicated lever. Another breath to x steady herself, and she pushed it forward and watched as the pinpricks of light stretched into the mottled blackness of hyperspace.

Then she leaned back and let out the breath she'd been holding. "So...uhm .. What should I call you.... And what kinds of training can I expect?"

Ordo leaned back as the blue cloud of hyperspace swirled outside. He lifted his caf mug and took a drink.

"Jasper, Ordo, Dad, Buir." Ordo said, as he turned to look at her. "Mando kids call their parents Buir, it means parent."

Ordo looked her over and felt his side. The girl would need a lot of training but she was tough. She just needed to realize it.

"Your training will be in alot of things." Ordo began. "It also depends on what you want to learn. I can train you to be a Mando."

Callysta nodded, looking over at him for a moment as she drew her knees up and wrapped her arms around them. "Buir...." she rolled the word around on her tongue for a few moments. She liked the sound of that. Fidgeting slightly, she twisted the hem of her sleeve between her fingers for a few moments as she looked around. "I'm... not really sure. I think I'd like to learn how to fly a ship... and how to fight better."

She smiled shyly. "And.. how to be a Mandalorian..." She wasn't entirely sure what was involved, but she was willing to give almost anything a try. "Can't be any worse than where I just came from, right?" she said, trying to be optimistic.

Ordo thought about lying and saying she had seen the worst the galaxy had to offer. He wanted to say she was only going to see blue sky's from now on but he couldn't. He just couldn't lie about what lay ahead.

"Training is hard and it hurts." He said "but you will have a meal and bed at the end of the day. That much I can promise and you'll have family."

He sipped his mug of caff. Hard eyes scanned the cloud of hyperspace. He wanted to find Bria and he would some day soon he was sure of it. He bit back the desire to get angry. They had time to kill and he wasn't used to company.

"I usually exercise when I'm in hyperspace." He said turning his chair toward her. "If you want I can show you some basics while we go?"

Callysta frowned slightly as she listened. She'd not really had much exposure to overly physical activities - unless one counted avoiding CorSec among them. She felt him hesitate for a moment, but wasn't sure if he was holding something back or deciding how to word something. "I'll do whatever it takes..." she said firmly, hoping she didn't regret it later. he still had saved her life. "And, I'd be grateful for whatever you provide, buir..." She brushed nervously at her uneven hair before she hopped out of her seat. "Sure.." she said, before slowly making her way back towards the lounge he'd showed her before.

Buir...he was going to have to get used to that. He pushed to his feet And followed her to the louge. When she stopped he sat down his mug and kept walking by. Je ke her to the Cargo area where a small aray of exercise equipment sat. He approached the gear and lifted a big cylindrical bag and atatched it to a hook from the overhead. He stood with an arm on it and patted the bags surface about mid way down and looked at her.

"Come hit this." He said calmly, "we'll learn to throw a punch first."

Callysta frowned slightly as she followed him to the cargos area and she watched as he attached the cylindrical bag to the ceiling. She knew generally what it was for.

Chewing in her bottom lip, she stepped forward until she was an arm's length away, lifting her hands into an approximate boxer's stance. She wasn't even sure it was right, but she tried anyway. Her left hand hit the bag, but then slid off the side, causing her to stumble. "Sorry..." She mumbled. "Never really done this before."

He watched patiently as she assumed a stance in front of the bag. It wasn't bad, well, for a child. Her small hand shot forward and Jasper nodded as it slid off and she stumbled. She had tried to follow through, to hit through the bag. If she had just been hitting the surface she would not have slipped. At least he wouldn't have to break her of that. His grey-green eyes watched her as she reacted and apologized. She had a ways to go, but she was going to get there.

He took a step forward and looked at her before turning toward the bag. He placed his left foot slightly forward and right foot back as he bent his knees slightly and put his fist up to about eye level.

"Just like this." he said, "stay on the balls of your feet or you'll get caught flat footed and someone will drop you."

He looked at the heavy bag and punched his right hand into the bag's surface. His back heel flared as he punched and a loud smack came from his fist hitting the Bag.

"Try it again." Jasper said calmly, "step by step form before power."

She had taken a few steps back after her miss, and she was frowning and chewing nervously at her lower lip as she watched him closely. Admittedly, hand to hand combat wasn't where her skills lay currently.

But, she was going to try anyways. She watched him closely, moving her little feet to mimic him as she tried to copy his stance. After a few practice strikes at the empty air, she moved back over in front of the bag.

A deep breath or two, her eyes closed, and then she carefully placed her feet in an approximation of his stance. A step closer to the bag, and she adjusted her stance again before striking towards the center of the bag.

This time, her hand didn't slip as much. The hit didn't have much power behind it, but she was focusing more on technique. She tried again a few more times, getting a little better each time before she stopped and looked up at him.

Jasper looked down and smiled. His grey-green eyes were not as hard and calculating as they had been. A smile crept across his face. His handsome tanned skin was smooth and kindly. The long days in the sun had served to brown him slightly but nothing else. His cheeks rose to squint those softening eyes as she looked up at him.

"Good Job, ad'ika" he said as he looked at her small blue eyes. "You keep it up and you'll be tougher than most boys in no time."

His face kept the warmth as he stepped to the side and lower to the deck. He stuck his booted feet under a low bar.

"Now hunker down and we'll teach you how to do a sit up." He said as he lay back on his elbows.

Callysta looked up at him, a shy smile crossing her face for a moment. She couldn't remember a time when someone had been so kind. Sure, he seemed rough on the outside, but she could sense something else, and see it in his eyes. She got the feeling it wasn't something too many people got to see.

Smiling at him, she took a few more swings at the bag before she followed suit, hooking her small feet under the bar that ran along the deck plates. There was just enough space to hook her toes under it. Then, she laid back, her shoulders meeting the cool metal of the decking as she tried to copy his posture.

It wasn't easy. She could feel her shoulders already aching a bit from the earlier workout. Hopefully, it would hurt less with time. She watched him for a moment as he did one sit-up. Then she tried. Her stomach muscles burned in protest, and she collapsed to the deck with a groan. "You make it look easy, buir." she grumbled lightly.

Ordo chuckled as he began his normal set of sit ups.

"All things." He began between sit ups. "Get easier with practice."

He kept going as he watched her from the corner of his eye. She was a good kid and he could tell she was going to learn fast. He finished his 100 sit ups and leaned back on his elbows to catch his breath.

"You know when you join a Mando family." He said remembering the man he had called Buir. "Your past doesn't matter anymore. You get a fresh start, a new life. We call it Cin Vhettin, fresh snow. Sometimes we take a new name to show we're a new person. They call me Ordo now. Just food for thought kiddo."

Callysta grunted, and collapsed to the deck after her twentieth sit-up, groaning in discomfort as she tried to catch her breath. Her stomach muscles burned from the exertion. "It just... gets wiped away... just like that...? But what if people try to use your past against you...?" The question trailed off as he continued, and then her eyes widened. 'A new name....?' The thought both intrigued her... and scared her a little. She'd never even considered the possibility of it. "I'll... have to think about that one..." she said quietly as she sat up and wrapped her arms around her knees for a moment.

Jasper smiled and patted her shoulder gently before getting up. He wasn't used to having someone around anymore. He stood and stretched.

"That's good for now kiddo." He said looking at his new partner in crime...well space at least. "If you want just go ahead and watch holo or read or whatever you feel like. I need to shower and rest. We've had a long day."

Ordo went to a crate and took out a utility belt and tossed it toward her.

"That should fit." He said patting his wounded side. "And the knife is bigger."

Her gaze was thoughtful for a moment as she considered that, idlely brushing a few strands of hair from her face as she did so. "Been a long time since I've just been able to relax like that," she whispered, looking up at him.

She watched for a monent as he rummaged around in the crate and then tossed her the utility belt. His comment made her grin, and she ducked her head briefly. "Thanks..." She said softly. "Think I might just read for a while," she replied with a hesitant smile as she dug around for the datapad he'd given her earlier. With it in hand, she reached over to hug him briefly before wandering back to her cabin.

Jasper returned the hug gently with a bit of surprise. He smiled a little at her back as she walked away. He walk over the the heavy bag and began to hit hit idly at first and then fell into a rhythm. It would take a lot of getting used to having someone around but it was nice also. He swung his heavy fist at the bag again and again as the skin on his unwrapped began to be pounded thin. After many minutes and the crashing of his heavy hands against bag, his knuckles began to bleed in places and be quickly decided to opt for bed.

He walked to his own room to wash his hands and take a nap before Mandalore.

In her cabin, Callysta flopped down onto her bunk with a groan. Her entire body was sore. for a moment, she simply stared up at the ceiling bulkhead, trying to wrap her mind around everything that had happened.

The sound of Ordo working at the hanging bag traveled down the corridor. The sound was repetitive and.., oddly soothing as she turned over and pulled the datapad out again.

Ordo's bunk was hard and covered with a coarse green cloth blanket. A small basin that would fill with actual water was tucked in the corner with a polished metal mirror above it. He walked over and began washing the blood from his knuckles and the sweat from his face. This was his normal routine day in day out. He exercised washed up and then began ticking off the things that needed to be done.

He grabed a towel to dry his big hands and went to his rack to lay down for a few minutes. For a long time he stared at tje ceiling and reviewed the events of the recent days but his thoughts kept returning to Bria and the hole in his very being that she had once filled. He thought of her smiles and her big brown eyes. He thought of her small hands and the way she seemed to care for everyone regardless of who they were. A tear streamed from the corner of a grey-green eye as he thought of her and how much he missed her. Quietly he rolled to his side and gently sobbed for being fool enough to go away. He swore again as he did everyday that he wouldn't rest until she was found.

Eventually, Callysta drifted off to sleep. She didn't know how long she slept for, but the next thing she knew, she was jolted awake. For a few moments, she lay there propped on. her elbows as she tried to figure out what had woken her.

After a minute, she sighed and rolled to her feet, pulling on her boots before she slipped out of her cabin and headed to the galley. She wasn't sure where Ordo was, but she wanted something to eat.

She still was trying to make sense of the fact she had a place to call her own. When she reached the galley, she rummaged around for a few minutes.

Sometime later He woke and began rubbing the sleep from his grey-green eyes. He sat up and walked over to wash his face and then headed out into the Corridor. The sound of someone in the galley reminded him of the young life that was now in his care. He walked in and went straight to the caff maker. He looked at the girl rummaging and pointed to the top cabinet.

“Uji cake is in there,” He said hiding a grin, “Nerf milk is in the cooler.”

He continued to make the caff and began opening some nerfjerk. It wouldn’t be long until Mandalore. Minutes most likely.

“How’d you sleep?” he said finally.
