Its long fluffy tail is used to bat away flies and other pests while its horns are used for attracting a mate or fighting off predators that it can’t outrun. While its body is comparatively thin for its size, it does hold a fair amount of meat on its body due to its overall large size.

 • Distinctions: Horned with long flared tails, the Arlusk’s body is made for running across long distances and avoiding danger rather than fighting it. However it is capable of defending itself with its large horns if necessary. The horns of the males sweep more outward, allowing for offensive usage of them, while the females have horns that are positioned lower to protect any offspring it might have. There are a few differences between the forest arlusks and the plains arlusks. Due to the widespread land, plains arlusks were evolved to be slimmer and faster. Forests arelusks are noticeably bulkier and usually sport darker colorations. This extra bulkiness does make them a favorite of native breeders and butchers. Arlusks don’t grow their horns until they are about three years old.

 • General behavior: Herd creatures, the Arlusks often stick together in groups of around 15, though wild herds have been large as 30. Usually, they meander through the forests and plains, grazing upon any foliage they can reach. Whenever danger appears, they do their best to run away from it, unless there are calves in the herd. In the case of calves, the arlusks will form two rings around the calves, with Females on the inside to guard the young and males on the outside to fend off the predators with their outward facing horns.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Due to their delicious meat and status as one of Veradunes less dangerous creatures, the Arlusks were quickly domesticated and turned into a primary source of meat for the local Zorrens. While many still live and graze in the wild, the Zorrens have created rich fields where the Arlusks quietly graze until they are hunted and taken to the butchers. The process is a bit more dangerous than most ranching operations in the galaxy, but due to the Zorren’s respect for nature, they consider this method to be the only acceptable way of harvesting the arlusk’s meat. When the bandit coalition took over Veradune, the domesticated Arlusks were quickly exterminated for nonstop feasts, leaving their fields empty and overgrown. Since the removal of the bandits, the Zorren’s have managed to create new domestic herds to help feed the population.
